Dicky Cheung to Film "Journey to the West" in Hollywood?

Dicky Cheung Wai Kin will be filming Wong Jing's remake of "Wong Fei Hung." Numerous jokes are to be expected!

Since Wong Jing joined See Corporation Ltd., he has produced numerous projects. Wong Jing will be filming a remake of "Wong Fei Hung," starring Dicky Cheung Wai Kin, Alice Chan Wai, Annie Man Chung Han, Lam Chi Chung, Leung Man Yee, and Lee Si Pui. Dicky will be playing the title character, Wong Fei Hung.

Dicky will be entangled in a romantic triangle with Annie Man and Alice Chan. Dicky will likely add his trademark humor when playing the famous folk hero, Wong Fei Hung.

Lam Chi Chung will play Chu Yuk Wing and Cheung Ka Lun will play Ga Chat So.

Also, rumors have circulated in China that Hollywood's Columbia Pictures was interested in casting Dicky in an international version of "Journey to the West."

Jayne: As good a comic as Dicky is, the American audience is more familiar with Stephen Chow. I am a little doubtful of the news that Dicky may film "Journey to the West" with Columbia Pictures.

Yeap; Dicky Cheung is a very good comic actor. After all, he was the main lead as "Suen Mm Hong" for the the first Journey to the West made by TVB...so it would be reasonable for him to be casted as the main lead again. Time will tell if the rumour is true. Wink

Ummm, I don't think he is suitable in the 'Wong Fei Hung' role even though it's a comedy. But I know for sure he is good and VERY suitable for the role as the 'monkey king' in 'Journey to the West' story. I hv seen the first one he acted in years ago and I think nobody can replace him in that role.

It will be interesthing to see that Dicky Cheung is going to be the title character. I wouldn't mind seeing this movie... although I do remember Dicky as Ga Chat So with Jet Li as the title character several years ago.. hmm this version might be featuring a younger Wong Fei Huang. Interesting.

I can't really imagine Dickey going for Hollywood... but as other people say.. time will tell..although I am very afraid of an Hollywood version of Journey to the West.. there was already other another poor example with Russell Wong that was a bad rendition of the Monkey King.

For a moment I thought this article was gonna be about the series that had Dicky, Alice, Patrick Tam Yiu Man, and Gillian Chung but guess not. I really want to watch that series cause the cast looked really good. Patrick Tam and Gillian pairs up again I think since both are part of EEG, well Patrick is part of a company that's under EEG anyway.
