Battling Depression, Linda Chung Amasses Secret Wealth in 8 Years

Since winning the 2004 Miss Chinese International Pageant, Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) has come a long way from Vancouver, Canada. Her acting career flourished, allowing her to become a quiet millionaire and property owner of 3 houses! Few people knew that Linda had battled loneliness and depression while pursuing dreams of a lifetime in Hong Kong.

Secret Riches

After winning the 2004 Miss Chinese International Pageant at 18 years old, Linda Chung was given a lifetime opportunity to carve riches in the lucrative Hong Kong entertainment industry. Professionally, Linda passed with flying colors, quickly leading in 2004’s Virtues of Harmony <皆大歡喜 II>. She was a darling among advertisers as well, allowing her to become a property owner as early as 2006, only 2 years after entering TVB!

According to public property records, Linda purchased a $1.96 million HKD property in the Metro City residential complex in Tseung Kwan O in 2006, which has currently increased in value to $3.6 million HKD! In 2011, Linda bought her second Hong Kong property for $5.5 million HKD in the same residential complex, which has held in value.

Homecoming in Vancouver

In April, Linda returned to Vancouver to visit her family. She also spent $15 million HKD to purchase a 5,000 square feet house in Canada for her parents, sister, and brother to live more comfortably. The new bi-level house featured 7 rooms and a luxuriously large living room.

Sharing her investment principles, Linda said, “Women need to know how to buy ‘bricks’ (real estate properties). It is meaningless to put away the money in the bank. In the entertainment industry, it is lucky to ascend to a certain position. You can earn a lot of money very quickly.”

Living without her family by her side for the last 8 years in Hong Kong, Linda felt extreme loneliness at times. Initially, she thought that she would be able to return to Vancouver each year to visit her family. Her work schedule at TVB did not allow this, which made her miss her family considerably.

Linda was especially close to her elder sister, who also shared an April birthday as Linda. When Linda visited Vancouver last month, her elder sister organized a surprise birthday party for Linda, in which many of Linda’s past school friends were present. Within seconds, Linda burst into tears of happiness.

Linda’s recent vacation to Vancouver was placed 2 years in advance. Since she rarely had a chance to visit her hometown, Linda even purchased Christmas presents in advance for her friends!

Road to Success Involved Sacrifices

While Linda may be currently enjoying the fruits of her hard work, she had a difficult initial transition in her early acting career. “My world before was very gray. It was a rough adjustment when entering the entertainment industry. I trapped myself for many years, until one day, my elder sister was not feeling well. I was very worried. My elder sister was the closest person to me. It felt as if the world came crashing down upon me!”

After her elder sister had depression, Linda suffered emotional instability as well. Filming busily for 2 TVB dramas at the time, Linda was unable to go to Vancouver to console her elder sister, making Linda panic even more. Linda recalled, “My homesickness was very strong. In the past, my way of thinking was too simple. I did not know how to solve problems, only hiding away to cry silently.”

Facing an insurmountable amount of stress alone forced Linda to overcome her weaknesses and grow stronger for the sake of her family. Raised in a solid middle-class family, Linda’s love for her family and filial piety were especially strong. It was apparent that she worked very hard in her career, not only for her own financial self-gain, but also for the love of her family. Linda’s elder sister had recovered recently, in which she paid more attention to her appearance and went outside once again.

As the breadwinner in her family, Linda was very willing to share her wealth with her family members. She said,  “My family has normal jobs. I hope that everyone can have their own house: myself, my elder sister, elder brother, and parents each have their own house. I will be content. I do not feel as if I am the breadwinner, but I am very happy to share with my family!”

Getting Married at 32 Years Old

Aside from her aggressive real estate goals, Linda also hoped to establish her own fashion business one day. She will be releasing a new music album this summer after a 2-year hiatus. “I am a Diamond Bachelorette! I hope to marry at 32 years old!”

Linda has been romantically linked with martial arts star, Philip Ng (伍允龍), for the last 5 years. It appeared that Philip may have to wait another 4 years before Linda will consider marriage! Asked about her status with Philip, Linda responded in her normal low-profile manner, “Wait until I have found my life partner, then we can discuss it!”

Jayne: Money alone rarely pushes us to work harder in life. Money, for the simple acquisition of materialistic goods, is empty without a deeper meaning. I am moved by Linda’s generosity in her dream of giving the gift of a house to each of her family members.

Working in the entertainment industry allowed Linda to become a millionaire while only in her twenties, a dream that few people get to realize. But she seems so well grounded despite early fame. Hope she has also found “Mr. Right” in Philip Ng as well. Linda’s dreams in life may almost be complete.

    1. i never knew her but as i can see he has a heart worth Billions
      she needs a best friend!

  1. Almost complete. Maybe after winning BA Linda will start her fashion business.

  2. Linda i love u! I’m so touched how Linda work so hard to earn money and bought a big house for her family. Add Oil Linda!

  3. Her parent must be proud, very touching stories ,Linda add oil !!!

  4. I’ve always loved Linda Chung. She’s so well grounded and wholesome. This comes through in her acting.

Best Wishes to Linda and I hope she achieves what her heart desires.

  5. ROFL jade girl image certainly help. I know many people who like her only because she has jade image. Acting sorry to say boring boring boring LOL

    1. The comments above proved this further. Now you all cant blame other artists if they also want to protect their image.

      1. That is how many celebs survive since many of them honestly have no talent. I guess I can’t blame some artists for trying to protect their image, however, it depends on how they do it. If they continue to lie through their teeth and deceive others, that is not the way to go.

Anyways, glad that Linda did not let fame and fortune get to her head and it is great to know that she is close to her family. It also sad that she is not able to see them that often. That is just how life has to be sometimes.

  6. I never dare to dream to be as rich as those billionaires but I hope I could earn alot of $$$$ like linda atleast. Good for her to have own 3 houses in such a short time.

  7. She is genuinely a good girl I remember there was an article about how she only spends $25 a day? Either way I admire Linda and I hope she stays this way as some celebrities let fame and money get through their heads.

    1. Yes Daisy, agree with you. Linda is a good example for all youngsters. Filial & down to earth person. also, she thinks of others before herself. I believe God will bless her, and make her wishes come true, and finding a good husband…..

    2. It was made up by the media as she confirmed in an interview. Well it was a few yrs back, however even after adjusting for inflation it’s almost impossible to spend HKD 25 a day.

I suppose it’s possible with a HKD 25 cash outflow a day i.e. for public transportation and bringing her own meal from home.

  8. Proud that she’s born and raised in Canada! She makes us Chinese Canadians proud. She was brought up with good values instilled in her by her parents and has never let the fame and fortune affect her, considering she entered the entertainment industry at such a young age. She could have easily let all the temptations of being the rich and the famous get to her head but instead she stuck by her values and accomplished all that she did. She is so grounded and never lost sight of where she came from and her family.
Props to Linda and all the best to her!

On a side note, too bad Raymond and her never got together. They really do match appearance wise.

  9. People from all walks of life and profession, I believe work their butt out in Hong Kong.

This is not limited to only those in showbiz.

Very often, the media portrays that only celebrities work and make sacrifices.

    1. It ia not only in HK,but in every country all over the world many people have to work their butt off.. Many people from the east think that life in the US is easy, however, that is not true at all… It is not only celeb that work hard, but they have a different type of job and are known to the public so of course their sacrifices are reported while no one knows about the average Joe/Jane.

      1. Do the chinese still think that way due to their own booming economy? I know they used to think that “money” was growing on trees for people living abroad, LOL.

I suppose the average american still possess a higher living standard relative to the average chinese. However I have a feeling that it could change very soon 😀

      2. I don’t think life is easier in US but certainly maybe people believe opportunities are more. I certainly do think some things are cheaper in US and having a US passport certainly helps in many travels except for terrorist prone countries.

As for Chinese in HK, what you see are the elites so to speak. There are plenty more who eats one meal a day just to survive. The distinction between poor and rich are wide, I do believe in HK middle class may be a rarity? I see those people living in cases, etc and I feel that is no way to live. China is the same. Don’t just look at Beijing, Shanghai, etc. I think everywhere in the world there are wide classes of rich and poor and in India, the poorest of the poor. No one should live a life like that. Malaysia, more middle class. You won’t starve but you’re not exactly full with cash.

      3. I actually am not sure how the Chinese think about the US right now. One thing that I do know is that many of them think that you can just relax in college/university and still make it. I used to have sooo many Chinese students and they just sat back in their classes thinking that they can just pass every class. I think many of them found out that that is not true at all.

About whether there are more opportunities in the US, it really depends on what you want to do and at which region you are in the US. There are fields where you can find better opportunities elsewhere. One of my brother’s close friends went to China since he could not find work in the US. I don’t know what he does, but I heard that he has been living in China for over 5 years now. Therefore, it does depend on what you do.

MY cousin and mom thinks that the US is the best place to live in the world. I do agree with that some extent since in my opinion, the US is probably one of the the countries with the most freedom. Even in China, you can be rich and all but you don’t have much freedom which is why many people who are rich and powerful in China still want to immigrate. Not sure about Malaysia though but have a feeling that life in Malaysia should be decent as well.

  10. well at least she has the money to pay the bills and to splash out on a few material excesses. some ppl, no money and depression. now try that.

    1. True, there are many with no money, depression and other things to worry about. I think regardless of how bad your life is, when you think of others that are even more less fortunate than you are, you will feel better…

      1. I agree with you. I also told myself, when I am down or depress, “there are people who are worst then me, wake up!” & It helps! hahaha….

      2. Haha, well it’s true that it will make you feel better to think that way, but “sei lar” if you do that you will lose motivation to do better.

Isn’t it better to look up to people more successful than you?

For instance when playing squash I always want to play with people around my lvl or better that’s how I can improve myself 🙂

      3. Good point Exiodus! I do think about others that are better as well so that I can motivate myself to do better. However, I really hate those competitive type of people who always want to be better than you so that can laugh in your face when you defeat you in anything. Those people make me sick… It is just good to try your best and encourage others around you as well…

  11. “Linda’s recent vacation to Vancouver was placed 2 years in advance. Since she rarely had a chance to visit her hometown, Linda even purchased Christmas presents in advance for her friends!”

And the producer of the new Miss Koo series want her to shorten her leave and come back to film for the series. So unfeeling.

” Asked about her status with Philip, Linda responded in her normal low-profile manner, “Wait until I have found my life partner, then we can discuss it!””

She didn’t deny straight out. So, high chances that they are really dating. 😀

    1. @kidd

I think its obvious she and Philip are dating
      LOL

    2. Kidd, it is economics. Anyway is Philip deserving of her? I hope so.

  12. She’s so lucky n pretty. I always wanted my own fashion business but it’s much harder especially when you’re not famous. You get the promotion n advertisement jus cuz u open it. I’m still thinking bout real estate properties but not happening anytime soon.

  13. Aw, good for Linda. As a Vancouverite myself I’m proud to see Linda come so far, I remember watching her on Miss Chinese Vancouver and look how far she’s come. She’s such a sweet gal, so humble and hardworking. I wish her the best. Even though I was never fond of her acting, she did try and she’s just one of those girls you can’t hate. All the best Linda!!

    1. ROFL sweet image right? Linda pure jade filial humble hardworking chung princess. Awwww!!!!

    2. what’s the chances of her being bullied? i mean with her personality, she’d be stepped on easily because in the industry, everyone’s ambitious and ruthless.

  14. “Battling Depression”

Isn’t that a bit dramatic headline when she is fighting more like loneliness?

    1. Dramatic headline a must to make her sympathetic and become everyone’s little darling depressed princess!LOL

      1. But she’s already everyone’s princess!

      2. LOL read the comments up there this article is success looking how many of her fans melted at the pure filial hardworking humble princess and admit dont care about her acting LOL

      3. lol yes this is more like a sympathetic article so ppl know how hard and sad she is. she’s just a lonely little girl. and then look at her fans commenting how proud they are of her, and feel sorry for her … no justification at all. she probably just needs friends. she lacks friends coz she’s a boring person? i dunno. lol

    2. It can be easily misread that she had mental health issues. LOL!!

  15. And if she is that rich splashing out on various real estate, then i’m dead sure this chick can at least afford to buy 2 business class plane tickets for her family to come visit her in Honkers.

    1. Sushiroll, I’m coming back again to see you.

Linda is actually not rich but IMHO she’s quite daring. If not mistaken, the way the reporter phrased her investment/purchasing power is GROSSLY exaggerated. The said properties might worth that much but the reporter had no idea at all of how the 3 purchased transactions were financed!!!!!! Who knows she might have leveraged up the transactions with 80% debt in 30 yrs of monthly installment??? I won’t say she’s financially smart. It’s just that she makes the best use of the available opportunities to maximize her wealth making capabilities and channel/utilize all her savings in a most promising manner at the right time when her lucks arrives!

All in all, she’s a very lucky and opportunistic person who never waste her financial power unnecesarily just like many financially motivated&ambitious artists are doing with their given money resources.

  16. there are many starving and more talented artists battling serious depression for not being able to find opportunities while linda battles depression for being given too much oppportunities, life sure is unfair isn’t it. everybody has struggles but these struggles are much more pitiful if you’re one of the bottom feeders, unlike Linda who is at the top of the chain in money making opportunities.

im not sure what talent she has as i dont think her acting or singing is any good, not even memorable. she also doesn’t have a distinguished look, i cant call her pretty but she’s not ugly either. she doesnt look like a star, its just not a fit but i will say this, she is definitely as lucky as they get. she’s got good fortune.

    1. Well, sadly life is just not fair. There are many that look for opportunities but can’t find it while there are others that just have opportunities come to them. But yet they are still not 100% happy about life. I guess people are just greedy and are never truly 100% satisfied about life even though their life is so much happier than many others around them. Money cannot buy happiness and can even introduce disaster if the person doesn’t utilize it well.

How many people in the circle truly have talent, looks, etc?? Honestly, if you really want to count, there aren’t that many that really do. But I think being in this business, it takes much more than that… Some are just luckier than others. I remember reading how Linda has a pretty blessed life so far so maybe her lucky stars are looking out for her?? However, life is unpredictable because you can be rich and famous one moment but poor and unknown the next. That is generally how life is in general as well.

      1. If you want to be philosophical, yes you will say that there will be consequences arising naturally from the law of karma, whether this life, next life, previous life….

But since that is incapable of proof, I would say this: Accept it, life isn’t fair and was never meant to be fair….In any case, fairness is a subjective concept.

        As the famous saying goes:

People often deserve more than they have but want more than they deserve

      2. Some lives are filled with sexxx, money and whooores. Some are filled with illness, pain and poverty.

Is there a discernible pattern in this universe? Some seemingly dun deserve to be rich but are using money as toilet paper.

Some kind hearted aunties feeding poor cats at void decks are plagued with illness and poverty. Could there be some balancing in their next lives?

      3. Tony,
It’s much better when you talk about philosophy rather than raunchy thoughts. When you lower your libido when writing, you appear less sex-crazed.

      4. ……but some people like Hetieshou often end up getting less than what she deserves while having to pay more than what is deserved from her… That’s why she always alone and ends her up hohahoha…

        Heheh… 🙂

      5. Tony,
Unfair for you to judge other people’s lives if you do not know them in real life.

What we deserve in life is where we put in our efforts. If we spend life dreaming of unrealistic things and never focus and put effort on achieving them, then of course they do not become reality.

As adults, we need to take charge of our destiny and shape our future. We don’t deserve what we don’t work for.

Winning the lottery is one in millions of chances. And you don’t deserve to win if you don’t buy a ticket.

      6. I agree with Jayne that you should not judge me if you don’t even know me Tony… I think you just assume that I am some lonely girl that desires to have someone.. Not really… I actually like being single at the moment and enjoy the freedom of it instead of being tied down like many are in a marriage or relationship…

  17. Actress Zhang Ziyi is allegedly under investigation by the Chinese government for being paid to have sexxx with disgraced former top government official, Bo Xilai.

She is reportedly barred from leaving the country.

Hong Kong’s Apple daily and other Chinese media reported that the pair was first introduced by Bo’s associate, Xu Ming, 41, who is the founder and chairman of Dalian Shide Group.

Sources say Xu confessed to paying Zhang 6 million yuan (S$1.2 million) in 2007, to have sexxxxx with her for the first time.

He later negotiated a deal for Bo to have sexxxx with Zhang, for 10 million yuan (S$2 million).

Reports say the 33-year-old actress slept with Bo at least 10 times between 2007 and 2011 in Beijing.

The Chinese media also estimated that Zhang’s sexual transactions with various rich and powerful figures have netted her 700 million yuan over the last 10 years.

This includes 180 million yuan in cash from Xu.

    1. Zhang ziyi’s wealth from prostituting herself was not taxed, due to intervention from Xu and other government officials.

Xu reportedly pimped the Chinese actress out to two other high-level officials as well.

Media news outlets speculate that investigations into these allegations could explain why Zhang was absent from the recently concluded Cannes film festival.

Her film, Dangerous Liaisons, premiered at the festival, which her co-star, Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung, attended.

Zhang claimed she was busy shooting the film, “The Grandmasters”, and was unable to attend the festival.

According to Hong Kong and Taiwanese media reports, the actress has remained uncontactable for comment on the allegations.

      1. “Zhang ziyi’s wealth from prostituting herself was not taxed, due to intervention from Xu and other government officials.”

Is prostitution legal in China? If not how can any illegal income be taxable? She would have gone right to jail!

I believe the reports, and I also believe someone should be able to walk away from her past.

Point is China generally don’t like Zhang Ziyi.

      2. The point that you intentionally raise is really good. It’s just like a foreign company setting up in China thru a VIE type of agreement. Legally speaking, a Chinese officer will say, “No, we do not recognize your setup and so if anything goes wrong [i.e. our people cheat your citizen’s (investor’s) money], you are not going to come to us because we are not going to enforce the law against our people. Eventhough we don’t legalize the company setup using this structure, we require you to pay corporate tax to us because you are doing bzness in our country.”

In the case of a prostitution, it’s the same as a VIE company setup by a foreign investor in China. They are all in a very grey area – which means that everything is open to an argument&interpretation that is clearly biased towards them (those in power). In this sense, a prostitute is required to pay tax (to feed those govt people) in spite of the fact that it has never been legalized in China.

Unbelievably, I’ve never seen chinese prostitutes being coerced to pay tax in this manner. Probably because of the incredible amount of wealth (presumably Rmb700mil) being amassed thru prostitutions that caused uproar (or greediness & jealousy) among those powerful donkey chinese officials because if they could rush to rob a reasonable part of that money (say- a tax of 20% or Rmb140mil) by way of taxes, have you imagine how many thousands of lower ranked chinese officers can be fed&corrupted to support those donkeys to remain continuously in power terms after terms?

Also with the outbreak of this news, have you wonder how many thosands of hamsap officers could be pervertly tempted to threat/press ziyi to satisfy their libido?

Ziyi, you are in huge trouble this time!

    2. In addition, Zhang was previously embroiled in other scandals.

In 2010, she was accused of exaggerating the funds raised for the Sichuan earthquake. Instead of the US$1million (S$1.34million) announced in 2008, the star only managed to raise US$400,000.

In 2009, Zhang was accused of cheating a married businessman of S$41.2 million, with whom she was alleged to be sexually involved with, while still engaged to Israeli billionaire Vivi Nevo.

Nevo and Zhang reportedly split up in 2010.

    3. I understand the article above which I’d taken somewhere from the internet is not very much related to this Linda’s article here. what I’m trying to point out is that:

Life is actually very unfair and alot of this unfairness is beyond our capability of understanding and not within our limit of control.

    4. Even prostitutes also got their own fates.

Some are as cheap as dirt while others are more valuable than 1000 pieces of gold.

      同人不同命!

      1. Tony,
        “同人不同命!”

If you believe too much in predestination, then your destiny is carved out already and beyond our control. Discourages us from trying. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Too pessimistic and too absolute.

You are what you believe and do.

  18. What the **** has Zhang Ziyi got to do with Linda Chung? Stay back on topic please.

    1. You’re too emotional about this issue. By the way, are you Linda’s fan?

Linda is still Linda at the end of the day. She’s not going to marry to you and there’s nothing deserving your unique admiration of her. After all, she’s just a female celebrity.

A female celebrity at the end of the day is no different from a prostitute. The only difference is she’s more fortunate & earns much better than a normal prostitute. Well, I am maybe wrong to make such a premature judgement of her but to some certain extent she’s guilty by association with Zhang ziyi. However, her luck is still very much below those of ziyi’s one and this can be obviously be seen by the length of time it takes for her to achieve a recognizable celebrity status.

  19. fame and money comes at a price. depression and stress is nothing new to artists. she’s definitely not the only one. so if you feel sympathetic about linda, feel sympathetic about everyone else who works in that industry.

if she had the brains, maybe she could have found a proper job in Canada where she could earn money and stay close to her family….rather than attending pageants and going through shortcuts and act in local television, speaking in a language she wasn’t fluent in and couldn’t even read the scripts (coz she didn’t know how to read chinese at first – dunno about now). why go through the pain? she wanted quick money, so she basically chose this path. noone to blame but herself.

im just saying…. its not like anyone forced her. maybe she was greedy, and the money she would have earned as an university graduate as not ‘enough for her’ …. And she’s not the only child either so her siblings would also bring in money to help with the family. i mean, we’re all working and earning money like normal people, we’re surviving fine with our salary. she just purely wasn’t satisfied, materialistic and money-hungry. coz a middle-class australian-born/american-born/canada-born chinese would usually consider a proper education and go from there. maybe she her IQ is low, and didn’t get high marks in school and have to resort to this.

She and her family wouldn’t have rotted to death if she didn’t enter the industry. They would have lived a satisfied comfortable life. Especially in Canada, every kid has free education and health benefits, welfare services…… but she chose this path in the very beginning when she lacked talent and willing to give up family love for prancing around in public in a bikini, long hours, eating out of lunch boxes, being molested by ppl in the industry, putting on a fake face, lack of privacy, lying to the media, difficult lovelife, why? coz she wanted fame and heaps of money.

So what’s there to be proud of?

    1. Well said Fez!!! I wonder if that was the reason why back in the days entertainers were very heavily looked down upon??

      1. Yeh these celebs may have a lot of fans, but to be looked up to by society is a big call. They haven’t really accomplished anything – just able to show their pretty face and get $$$ for it.

Most of them ain’t very intelligent. Some of those ppl didn’t even finish school and went straight to showbiz. Compare a lawyer and to Linda Chung. Who would you look up to more? A lawyer is quite a prestigious title, and they worked hard in their studies to get to get there. Linda didn’t even finish college (quote me if i’m wrong) and how she started was merely a young girl prancing around on stage in a bikini. Tell me where the logic is. LOL At the end of the day, Linda may earn more than the lawyer, but in terms of status, lawyer is a)more intelligent and b)more respected in the community than those you see on tv everyday.

Their job is to ‘entertain’ us, so in other words, its actually THEIR job to PLEASE us. Without US, they wouldn’t survive or continue their career. But without THEM, WE can certainly survive. So if Linda earned enough to buy 3 properties, she has to thank the fans for liking her which in turned resulted in sponsors continuously using her in their ads. But if you or me earned enough to buy 1 property, I’m not gonna thank Linda – I’m gonna thank myself coz I really earned that on my own.

        That’s how I see it.

  20. I think it’s a good thing that she have been through all this (like entering showbiz, being depressed and overworked). All these ups and downs give her life experience. And life experience is what makes you tougher. Maybe if she decided to choose her college degree or whatever she studied, then she wouldn’t have been able to see the world like the way she sees it now.

    1. Some ppl are made for that industry, but for Linda i don’t think she has the qualities to make her suitable. She doesn’t have:
      – established talent
      – can’t read or write chinese
      – has an accent
      – difficulty in withdrawing from her characters
      – insomnia
      – depression
      – loneliness, misses family
      – wants privacy
      – not willing to take risks or make sacrifices
      – doesn’t like to socialise
      – not ambitious enough
      – doesn’t know how to protect herself
      – naive and vulnerable

Steven Ma said he worried about Linda the most out of his ‘3 sisters’ (Linda, Fala and Tavia)at TVB because she trusts ppl too easily and still don’t know what kind of ppl there are in the industry that can take advantage of her. Seriously…. she’s an adult, if she can’t do it alone and face the pressures for herself then leave the industry.

      1. you sound like someone who knows a bit too much about someone you seemingly dislike

shes not super talented, but its not like she’s someone who was desperate for fame and who*red herself out. for most winners of pageants, they usually want to try out the hk industry and see what it’s like. maybe she does like it. how do you know, how do WE know? and yet u sit there and u write out this long thing like u know her so well.

i mean, are we really in the position to say that she’s not for it? we don’t know her personally.

  21. Each to their own. Essentially, everybody chooses or is taken on a path of life that is different from the person next to them. May be better or worse. What matters is their perspective and outlook on life. If anything this article just proves that she’s not as happy chirpy as most would think. I do think she’s a bit boring and whatnot, but at least she’s filial. Though honestly, its pretty… radical for the typical ABCs/CBCs to become HK celebrities, upping and leaving everything and family behind. Esp for Linda who has this family oriented image, I wonder why she did it in the first place? Materialism? Fame? Need to make a living? It is said she’s pretty well off though. Passion for acting? She hasnt really displayed any passion or natural talent to me per se .. Honestly, i just hope for her sake that she doesn’t wake up one day and realise how isolated she is and how material wealth cannot trade the time we have with our family.

  22. Ms. Linda Chung:

If you are a reader of Jayne’s blog, please read this one. Thank you for sharing your financial habits and being down to earth and frugal about it. Learning and earning the value of money through blood, sweat and tears makes you well grounded and realistic. I commend you for your values! Keep it up!

  23. you know what kind of girls choose this path over a stabilized educational route? the most vain ones, they love seeing themselves on TV and they enter beauty pageants out of their own vanity. they like to be a “star”, to show off despite possessing zero charisma or talent to be one.

linda loves money, fame, and perks of being paid for just appearing at events, shows, and commercials.
