Bosco Wong Clarifies Restaurant Failure Rumors
Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) had invested in a branch of Overtime Restaurant in Ipoh, Malaysia last year. With the restaurant’s recent renovation and conversion into a full-fledged music lounge and bar, misunderstandings quickly arose that Bosco’s investment last year had failed.
Appearing at the re-opening of his new lounge, House, Bosco clarified that his restaurant investment was far from being a failure. In the last two years, the Ipoh branch of Overtime had already broken even, but he and his partners wished to re-invent their business venture.
“We didn’t fail! In this kind of business, we have to adjust quickly according to the business environment. We have to execute new ideas right away,” Bosco explained the decision to open a bar at the former Overtime location.
Possessing good investment acumen, Bosco trusted his business partners will do a fine job in managing House’s daily operations, due to the team’s experience in managing other restaurant locations across Malaysia. Bosco will continue to focus on his acting career, and will consider buying a vacation home in Malaysia after purchasing a house for his mother in Hong Kong.
Greeted by 200 Fans
On December 27, Bosco and his business partners were at the opening of House in Ipoh. Although failing to win any awards at the 45th TVB Anniversary, Bosco’s popularity was highly visible as 200 fans crowded the bar’s opening night.
“Awards are a good encouragement, but I don’t feel disappointed at all because my drama, Witness Insecurity <護花危情> has the highest ratings this year. I feel even happier with this excellent result than actually winning an award.”
Bosco to Film “The Young Detective Dee”
Bosco has multiple filming offers currently on hand, and will be filming mainland drama, The Young Detective Dee <少年狄仁傑>, with Ruby Lin (林心如) for 3 months in China.
While Bosco’s career is going well, his love life has been quiet since breaking up with Myolie Wu (胡杏兒). Admitting that they remained friends, Bosco sent Myolie text messages on her birthday and during Christmas, and does not mind filming together once again.

Bosco to Film “The Young Detective Dee”
This sounds awesome.
Bosco sounds bold, not afraid of business risks and this is well made for business environment, but he better stay acting because other than Ray, Bosco is another one with highest potential to explore more acting in mainland and movies than just TVB.
I must go visit ‘House’ when I go back hometown the next time.
I’m not sure about Ipoh, knowing most Ipoh people are very thrifty…
Can we stop the Bosco/Myolie BS? They broke up, the end, finished!
I actually wonder why he pick Ipoh ? A bar/lounge in those parts……do they have the crowd for business ? I thought Singapore, KL or Malacca would have been a better choice.
I am sure Ipoh has its own market. Though Ipoh look like a “dead” kampong (village) but its not.. because, there are quite a number of business and factories there, and most importantly, there are chinese crowds.
If you say thrifty. I am doubly sure, Penangites are more kiamsiap (thrifty..) ahhaha… Yeah, I am a true blue Malaysian who have moved around states to states due to my Dad’s work assignment. CHeerio!!!
Penangnites are thrifty? But it is their food that is at least twice the price in KL whilst in Ipoh is cheaper. How they can be thrifty.. oh… probably because their hometown’s food is expensive. Can’t blame them.
You must be ignorant to say penangites being thrifty. Just look at the property price, its at least twice that of Ipoh. And for your information, there is of course a small segment of penangites who is thrifty, and they mostly lives in bayan lepas area. Why? Because a lot of them are not penangites in the first place, they are migrants worker who came from ipoh, alor setar, kl etc etc to work in Penang. Penang is the most progressive state in Malaysia, thats why we attracted all these migrants worker who destroy our local culture.
ipoh is an obvious choice because:
1) it’s regarded as a food haven in malaysia (right after penang)
2) Less competition as compared to penang, kl and singapore.
3) large chinese population in that area.
Well, startup capital would be a lot less if the location was in Ipoh compared to s’pore, KL etc… But I am interested in what type of demographic his type of restaurant is targeting?
Actually, Ipoh is quite a laid-back city but the rich there are by no means stingy like the ones in Penang. The former are used to spending their money especially on food. I really hope Boscoe will continue to do well there and people from the surrounding areas like Taiping won’t think it too far to patronise his restaurant if it produces fine food.
I can actually say that if the price in Overtime in KL is of any indication, then the items (drinks especially and that is the purpose of pubs, etc) is way too expensive. It isn’t about fine food. Frankly Taiping is a food haven, you can find better and cheaper food than in Overtime. But the environment is a plus point, and a place to hang out. I see many friends go there, those young and professioonals. However if cost is an issue and it is because again Overtime in KL is way too expensive, perhaps fans who won’t mind music anywhere and just want to watch a game of football or chat can go somewhere else that offers almost same stuff but on a lesser price, although environment may not be as good. The food is not exceptional, frankly.
Malaysia is a foreign place – why would anyone throw money there???
You mean Malaysia is the only foreign place in this world?
Any countries outside of HK is a foreign place 😛
Don’t underestimate Ipoh. This is the place where businesses are usually packed with customers. Love the foods in Ipoh but I just hate to wait and queue up everywhere I go.
He is a poor actor. To this day, cant see any star quality or any talent in him. He is just silly. Im also sorry for Myolie having to endure and waste her youth on him. Why on earth did they invite him to film Young Detective Dee. Waste of a role.
Its interesting that out of all four actors, Raymond, Bosco, Ron, only Kenneth seem to appear the only real gentleman out of them. Maybe the girls should of gone for a man that the audience respects the most and it definitely isn’t two timer Ron, Raymond, Bosco for sure. Perhaps their personal life is what also deterioted their acting. If you dont possess a decent character and treat people in your life right, do you think you can have good prospects in other areas also. Our personality transfers over to everything else that we do.
Ain’t gettin no girls at a restaurant man……..gotta open up a bar. lol
hmm..
if restaurant is a flop, just admit it.
I think there’s issue with the franchise. I know that the Overtime in Autocity and in Ipoh both closed around the same time. I also heard from a friend that all Overtime restaurants in Pg are closed. The Autocity Overtime restaurant has changed name to October but they are still selling the same brand of beer.
Is there any Overtime restaurant still open inn KL?
Never checked but there’s one near my house which I think may or may not still be opened.
The Overtime in Setapak has closed when I pass by recently. I remembered it was a happening and crowded store.
