Cecilia Cheung Turns to Christianity to Wipe Out Sins?

Now that Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝) has relocated her family to Canada, the 33-year-old actress is spending as much quality family time as she can with her two sons, Lucas and Quintus Tse.

Last week, a magazine reported that Cecilia and her two sons have applied for Canadian citizenship. It was reported yesterday that the family of three have moved into a friend’s house that is located in Fleetwood, a town center in Surrey, British Columbia.

Cecilia spent the majority of her time with her two sons. She was spotted swimming, surfing, diving, and riding bikes around the neighborhood park. With such a slow and relaxing style, it is of no surprise that Cecilia decided to move out of the busy and bustling city of Hong Kong. The actress was last seen in Hong Kong in May 2013, when she attended a C AllStar concert.

Cecilia was seen with a new Christian cross tattoo on her right wrist. She was also seen wearing a Christian cross necklace.

Cecilia was never truly religious, but years ago, there were rumors indicating that although she proclaimed herself a Christian, there were reports saying that she believed in Theravada Buddhism. Now that she has “reverted” back to Christianity, reports claim that Cecilia wants to completely “wipe out” her past sins and be a better person.

  1. I like the Irish and I believe they are sincere in their Catholic-style morality but I don’t like the FACT that the Christians stole the Jewish religious books and repackaged it for themselves adding the murderous New Testament providing the excuse for CENTURIES of idiots coming out of Church and looking for Jewish neighbors to KILL for killing Jesus so I always wonder at HKers like Ada Choi becoming Christian and studying the Bible because I was forced to go to Catholic School for 12 years and I NEVER read the bible and now I’m GLAD because now I know what Christians did to the Jews and now the Vatican is now giving sainthood to Christians who have been murdered by Muslims – what about the Jews – if you trace the history of raging antisemitic murders in Europe – they sound CRAZY.

    1. I’m not sure how you come to that conclusion, I’d like to know why ! I believe when Jesus came, he taught love – love to the point we’re to love our enemies. He also gave a pathway for everyone who sinned. And everyone on this Earth have sinned. We may not have murdered, set fire to houses but we have hurt those around us, have had jealous thoughts etc. Christianity is the only religion where the deity we worship actually serves us in human form and loves us no matter who we are. I’m not sure where on the new testament was it murderous, but the new testament was the story of Jesus, the prophecies he fulfilled that was mentioned in the old testament, and letters to various churches from Jesus’ disciples and figureheads like Saul aka Paul

      1. google anti-semitism, church, europe and you will find that Europeans consistently would attack jews after their church services hence “Sunday, Bloody Sunday” – I think the Irish didn’t do it but the Germans (of course) and Eastern Europeans definitely did – why didn’t you ever ask if Jesus actually existed and was Jewish, why aren’t you in a Jewish church reading the torah and not a church?

    2. “I always wonder at HKers like Ada Choi becoming Christian and studying the Bible because I was forced to go to Catholic School for 12 years and I NEVER read the bible”

I think you should read the Bible. Only by reading the book yourself that you know what exactly the book teaches. You can’t judge the book’s content by what the Christians did.

      1. The Bible was one of the textbooks for one of my English classes back then. I thought it was interesting to read even though I am not Christian.

      2. I think you should ask why a New Testament was created and why ever since, Bible-thumpers claim that the Jews and not the Romans killed Jesus. The New Testament has been used as an excuse for murderous anti-semitism by people aleady prone to violence – obviously Chinese Christians don’t get agitated about Jews but the fact is that Christianity has a long history of murdering Jews and so it must not be comfortable by Jews to see Chinese converts to Christianity just like Black Americans must mind hearing about how Mainland Chinese adore white expat children.

      3. Yup, totally agree. I’m not a Christian myself, but I find bibles interesting to read.

    3. i agree with u on a few points…

but u have to see it from an asian POV,Christianity is attractive for them because it’s different from confucianism and buddhism and still kinda new because it’s from the western world…

in the end, just look at all of these stupid asian evangelist people claiming that if you don’t donate huge money to the church u’ll go to hell, and **** like this…i saw that in every church i’ve been…
they will never really understand the real meaning of that religion…

      1. Which church did you go??? My church never said that if you dont donate u are going to hell. The only way you will get salvation is through Jesus Christ (not even Mary can save you dude). That’s the core of the belief. If any other than that, you may get away from that church. The Bible did say that in end time, the will be a lot of false prophecies or teachings.

  2. Cecelia has such a bad reputation during the years that I really was not following celebrity news – I just know her from her early films with good directors so I am amazed that she has so fallen in public opinion. What did she do other than be related to a terrible criminal?

  3. Cleo, you got to be kidding. Even if you were not follwing celebrity news. Can you not google or Wiki. Cecilia’s name and see reference to the scandal?. That thing was, and still is all the rage. Not that I blame CC. She too was an innocent victim ofit all. It was in your face, whether a person was following celebrity news or not. You really gotta be kidding me.

    1. you mean the Edison photos? She seems to be actively disliked though.

  4. You do not need religion to become a better person. It all starts with yourself from within. She is just blowing smoke to cover up.

  5. Posing nude in privacy for your boyfriend is not criminal, nor it is sinful. Scandalous maybe, but not illegal or anything.

So, why does she have to repent via Christianity????

And why has she fallen from grace?
She was a pretty good actress in her early career, just that the taking the break for marriage and later the scandal for the few years done her in.

But Ah Qiu Gillian Chung is doing great, so the dust has already settled long ago. No more the ‘rage’ like kaboom said it is.

She can picked herself up, her movies of late have been dismal.

    1. “Posing nude in privacy for your boyfriend is not criminal, nor it is sinful. Scandalous maybe, but not illegal or anything.”

So in your opinion, she just posed nude for a boy friend and didn’t have sex? LOL

      1. And… not sure of your point? Is having sex outside wedlock a crime in Hong Kong? who knew?

      2. well it’s none of our business other than being curious but I don’t think we automatically blame them for anything if we have seen the photos – it seems uncharacteristically stupid to have posed for photos though ….

    2. Well the scandal is still the rage because Cecilia never got a fair chance after the scandal. none of the women did. Gillian is not doing so wellon her own. Only when she performs with Ah Sa, who is the darling of Asia. The chinese public will not let these innocent women live this down. Man, that is sad.

      1. So what if she posed nude for her boyfriend and had sex with with. Did she commit an illegal crime?. Oh I forgot, that does not happen in pure, spotless Hong Kong, only the rest of the world.

      2. Calling these women as innocent is a bit off. All you can say is they were exposed that they are not as innocent as they appeared. Maybe HK people just don’t like fake people.

    3. So everyon who turned to christianity has posed nude or has fallan from grace? Has it occurred to you all that she wanted to find a sense of religion in her life. Did she pose nude for money, for total strangers to gawk at her? Did she pose to distribute the contents for men or women’s public viewing pleasure. NO. Maybe you all, even myself have friends or relatives who have posed nude for their sweetheart, and it just was not made public. Stop being so darn self righteous and saintly. If you all have loved ones who become victims like CC and the other gals, would you be so saintly and judgemental and full of a holier than thou attitude? Boy, you all must be pure beyond words

      1. But CC is married to Nicholas during that time, right? Of before? Did not really follow the whole story.

  6. At least she wasn’t claiming to be Christian before the scandal happened. She is just turning to Christianity to wash away her sins from before.

This is miles better than the hypocrite Christians out there that pretend to have higher moral grounds and then get caught committing just as many “sins” as everyone else.

    1. I said these women were innocent before, a long time ago, and also at Weibo and was told that women who have sex are not innocent. You too miss the whole point

      1. Cecilia never claimed she was innocent. In fact, she said she was not innocent in the early of her career. Gillian on the other hand, her image was controlled by EEG. If CC’s pictures were bad, then Kim Kardashian’s sex tape was worst. Tang Wei’s pornographic scene was also more “bad” than CC’s pictures, but she did it for a movie, so she’s excused.

    2. Michel, what is so fake about taking private, intimate pictures with your boyfriend? What is so fake or guilt about intimacy with your boyfriend. Are you so out of tune with reality that you believe Hong Kong residents do not make love?

These women were innocent victims through no fault of theirs, and so was Edison Chen. If Hong Kong people d not like fakes, then 95 percent of celebrities are hated.

When I said these women were innocent, I was not speaking in the biblical sense. I am aware these women are not pure virgins. A person an be the worst person on this earth and still be in a situation where they are an innocent victim.

    3. Michael, I think you missed the point it is not about calling these women innocent. We all know they are not, and were not lily white virgin. They are innocent victims, because the repairman had no business making these photo public property. He violated customer trust. What he did is against the law. It is like me printing my patients’ medical files online or in some newspapers. f anyone call these women victims, it is not off at all.

    4. @micheal. These women are innocent. Victims of a money hungry parasite. Technician, who did not care about. How his actions could hurt these gals. A horrible person can be a victim of an unfortunate and needless situation. Hey, everyone knows these women are not virginal flowers. So your comment is the one that is off

      1. One more thing, if Hong Kong people do not like fakes, then 95% of the celebs are guity of being fakes.

  7. Want to wipe out sin? Try Islam. Same concept.

Whatever! If any religion gives her a piece of mind and makes her a better person, why not?

    1. There’s a huge difference between the two in regard to sin. Whether you want to know the answer is really up to an individual. There’s a lot to learn, including myself but believe me.

    2. What? Islam can remove sin? Now that’s a novel concept.

  8. cecilia is trying TOO hard to show herself as a pure innocent victim now. why don’t just be herself and face the fact that her career has crumbled? all of her movies after the incident flopped and got bad reviews and her performances is labelled among the worsts.

    1. She was a victim… as was everyone else in the scandal – including Edison.

      1. @Tvbfanatic, agree with you, all them women and Edison were victims of the scandal

  9. Be it Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism , Taoism & so forth if one has morality, leads a compassionate/decent life style. Does lots of good it can wipe out sins! Regardless whatever religion one believes in.,,,!

What nonsense in declaring because you are not Christian or Buddhist or….. one is unable to descend to heaven after life on earth! Remember “variety is the spice of life! ” Only one belief is solely correct? Come on….!

    1. Yes… you don’t need religion to lead a good life… nor does belonging to a religion ensure you will be good. Too many religious scandals have proven that.

A good morale compass is all one needs.

      1. Man is limited, so a man’s morale compass is obviously limited. It requires a moral compass that is above man, and that is one set by God because He knows a lot more than we do. There no doubt have been people who misuse religion, just like a kid in chemistry class disobeying rules – and it does truly sadden God. Christianity does not wipe out sin, everyone on Earth has committed one but I’ve seen people around me reduce their sins, become fulfilled and are focused on helping the needs of others. Lots of people do charity, good works which is great! But rather than doing it to fulfill themselves of righteousness, doing it for the sake of other people’s salvation is the preferred choice and that’s what Christianity is about. If there was one thing you understand differently in what I said about what Christianity us about, I urge you to continue critically examining it to at least provide more better counter arguments.

      2. Haha you’ve got a choice whether you WANT to read it or not

      3. And i have a choice to comment whether your preaching about religion is a waste of space on an entertainment website.

      4. Haha well that’s true you have the right, it’s no different in the real world 😛 but even if you take that stance, having a better understanding of an idea – any idea – is good.

      5. Ex-christian turned atheist here.
The better understanding I had about Christianity, the more doubt on the existence of God. try reading more about Christian theology and counter reasoning, does more help than preaching non stop about subjects you can’t explain.

      6. What’s your reasoning behind it? I’ve based my faith on the evidences of Jesus’ existence and impact, and fulfillment of the old testament prophecy. This isn’t a religious debate, this is trying to understand each other 🙂

      7. Can the reasoning be explained in a sentence or two? Or a paragraph or two? Or even an essay? A book? Christianity has thousands of years of foundation, and cant be refuted in a single comment. Thats why i recommended reading in depth on the subject, you will come to your own conclusions like I did. (Do your own homework).

      8. Why do so many people allow religion to control them???

      9. Hi Penguin,
I’m just curious since you mentioned the bible, how come the new testament writers had no last names? Like Paul, Mark, Matthew, Luke and John. As all book writers have a last name, even the most peasant of us have a last name, why is it something that is as important as a gospel is written by people with no last names?

Also, since Jesus spoke Aramaic and even the King James version of the bible which is supposedly the closest to the original, was written only many decades after, wouldn’t some of it original Aramaic get lost in translation given the time lag and with translated things, it is susceptible to the translator’s language and cultural understanding of things.

Also as you mentioned that the deity you worshipped served you in human form, I would just like to ask where exactly is the exact words in the bible where Jesus says ‘I am God’ because from my limited reading I understand that Jesus always attributed his miracles, power and works to a higher one above himself. Now if we cannot find in the bible where Jesus says he is God, wouldn’t that contradict the very first commandment of the Ten passed down to Moses which is ‘I am your God, your Lord, worship no other God but me’

Ex Catholic here. Not a debate, just alot of unaddressed curiosity. Peace. 🙂

      10. Hi Nicole, 🙂

I was a born Catholic, my parents are Catholic so are the rest of my paternal aunts, uncles and cousins, except for a few who have joined the Christian churches and a few Buddhist families from my mother’s side.

I was educated in a Catholic girls school for 10 years, attended Cathecism (Bible classes) weekly in church for 10 years, underwent a Cathecism teaching course and taught Cathecism to little children for 3 years in church.

When I taught Cathecism, I started asking questions. I asked everyone I knew, my parents, my relatives, my teaching seniors, my head of Cathecatics, my parish Priests.

I got a lot of different answers for some very simple questions. I was curious why nobody could answer my questions in a concise manner. Sometimes they would tell me ‘Don’t ask so many questions, that’s why they call it Mysteries of the Faith’

I was baffled. It just did not make sense. I went to find out the answers for myself through other religious texts and books, Buddhism, Taoism etc. I started with the internet, then books, talking to others, then more books, documentaries, I attended interfaith dialogues, introductory courses.

Islam was the last place I looked because I perceived it to be so different from what I ever knew. Or what I thought I knew. Strangely enough, Islam contained all the answers to those questions that could not be answered earlier.

So I read more and more and found it made a lot of sense. I also happened to meet my husband around that time who is a Muslim and I asked him lot of questions and he answered every single one of them. I could not believe that he could have the answers to what all the Catholic people I spoke to had no answer for.

I’m a person who likes to know my products before I purchase them so after learning over a few years, I have since converted to Islam and so I’m a Muslim because it just made perfect sense to me.

One of the easiest questions I asked was this ‘Adam and Eve were the first people on Earth, and then they had kids, then their kids had to procreate right to populate the earth, but they were of the same parents Adam and Eve, how could that be since they were siblings?’ You should have seen my Mum’s face when I asked her that.

I’ve since found out the answer and I told my mum about it. 😛

      11. Haha, our religious backgrounds are kinda similar :p i also attended church, cell group weekly for years, then taught sunday school and even took up some theology coursework for gen ed, but like you, the more i asked, ….. i think you get it. i dont want to say too much about it, because i do think that everyone has a choice in their religion, and it is still a good path for people who seek for the meaning to life. Anyone who actually wants to learn more, should go read up independantly, and not be dependent on material your church provides. But now you know where my mistrust of religion comes from.

      12. Siying,

May I ask you something? Where are you from? America? And what was the answer that you got about the siblings?

      13. I mean, did you husband say that the answer is the ‘two sets of twins’ thing?

      14. Hi qwerty,

do you mean as in where I was born, where I grew up mostly or where I am in now currently? They are actually all different places, yea I know like what the… Lol. 🙂

The 2 sets of twins I didn’t hear till later when I attended a talk but my husband’s answer was that in the early time of Adam, it was permissible to intermarry between siblings but there had to be a distinction between them about who married who.

      15. Siying,

“do you mean as in where I was born, where I grew up mostly or where I am in now currently?”

        I mean all.

“…but there had to be a distinction between them about who married who.”

I don’t understand this part. Could you be clearer?

      16. Hi si ying,
Not sure if you’ll read this but there are answers here and in Google 🙂

The gospel writers did indeed have a way of differentiating themselves.http://www.gotquestions.org/people-Bible-last-names.html
In modern sense, it would be like Barack, son of Obama. Or Barack, the President.

The bible was meticulously transctibed to ensure the stories did not become crumbled. I believe the scribes had to memorize each sentence letter by letter before writing it down and if there were a tiny bit of error, they had to start all over again. In any case, there are larger evidences to which the story of Jesus is confirmed. http://www.alwaysbeready.com/index.php/bible-evidence/99

One important fact – which was documented by the Roman empire – was that there were several martyrs who died claiming Jesus was God, and is the only way for salvation – that he also rose from the dead, ascended into heaven. Now these guys all suffered a sickening death such as beheading, crucified upside down etc. Not one of these guys said “OK I lied, let me out of here” because what they say was so true they would die for it.

Also, read here about Jesus = God. The website starts off by saying if Jesus said “I am God, worship me” no one would accept it and think he’s nuts but there are several evidences to which it is clear he is God. http://www.answering-islam.org/Q-A-panel/nowhere.html indeed God said worship no other Gods but me but if Jesus = God, it does not contradict anything.

Hope that answers your question and encourages you to understand more about Christianity as a whole 🙂

      17. hi qwerty,
I was born in Thailand, my mother’s half Thai. I was raised in Singapore for a good number of years then I got married and moved to Portugal then to France and now I’ve moved to the Middle East. Yea I know, another what the.. Lol. May I politely ask why my origin may interest you?
        😀

He said that it wasn’t just any siblings that could marry each other, that they were distinguished by their birth order. I think he meant the twins thing, that they would marry the opposite set of twin.

      18. hi Penguin,
Thanks for taking the time to research and reply. No worries, I’m reading for I find it very interesting.

I’ve looked through the links you have posted as well. Firstly, I think I need to clarify that I do believe in Jesus and his miraculous birth and existence because its mentioned in the Quran and Jesus’s name is mentioned 25 times in the Quran as well.

What I’m questioning is the origin and authenticity of the New Testament. There are 24,000 books of the bible, yet only 66 were cannonised? I’m just pulling the figures off memory, so forgive me if they are plus or minus some. What happened to all the lost books of the bible?

Also for the accuracy of the narrations and translations, for Islam, there is the Hadiths, which contains the narratives and accounts compiled after strict inspection of a narrators’ moral truthfulness, memory skills, family background, character. Interviews were conducted with people who knew the narrator as well. Narratives are chosen very strictly and there are numerous narratives for the same topic. All the narratives are also made available for the common man to read.

While the New Testament has been transcribed, I’m curious if investigations have been carried out regarding its narrators and if all versions are made available to common people and not just the council who chooses to cannonise the books? Now I’m curious because the 4 gospels were written about 40 years after Jesus’s death and they have never met him I think?

Now if we put aside whether Jesus said he is God, how come he still attributed his power and works to a higher being than himself?

If Jesus did not say he is God, and if its the New Testament which insinuates he is God, of which the New Testament according to some like Mormons, say that it may have been tampered with, how can one be sure that it is not breaking the first commandment by worshipping Jesus as God when he did not say it?

I’ve asked my mother this same question, but she did not answer me.

If he wanted to, he could have just said it in three words. So why didn’t he say it?

But here’s something he did say and I would like share this link with you just for further reading. 🙂

        http://www.answering-christianity.com/aramaic_society.htm

      19. Thanks SiYing, it’s great to have someone wanting to be solid in their foundation of their beliefs. I would encourage your mother to be more thoughtful about the basis of her beliefs. I don’t know if she is being a Catholic for more personal reasons such as trying to be proud of her beliefs or something, I really think no matter who you are, you need to be able to back what you believe in and have a loving heart in anything you do.

Now, I couldn’t find out where it said there was 24,000 books of the bible – perhaps you meant 24,000 copies of the new testament http://www.bibleevidences.com/transmission.htm

        http://www.theepicchurch.com/wpSource/wp-content/uploads/how-was-the-bible-put-together.pdf
I think the last page of this document is more significant where it tells you what criteria was used to form the bible. It mentions the whole process was a God-guided process, and considering how the Roman Emperors in the first 3 centuries AD were hell bent on destroying christians and their books (back when books were very easily destroyed) it still maintained survival and that itself I really feel is a miracle. http://www.pbministries.org/books/pink/Inspiration/inspire_11.htm

In response to your query about the gospel being written 40 years after the death of Jesus, these gospels were written by Jesus’ disciples except for Luke who was Saul/Paul’s companion so indeed they have actually met him.

I agree there is some complexities behind the idea of Jesus talking to God in third person which is pretty bizarre. http://www.gotquestions.org/Jesus-pray-God.html In this explanation – which is consistent with what I’ve learnt at Church. It sums up about how Jesus needed to ensure he was a servant to the people, he had to live a humble life with no miracles that helped himself. He was tempted by the devil, he fasted, he went through all that horrendous ordeal before he was cruxified to show his humanity. This was important so that he himself without sin, could be the perfect sacrifice (the lamb) to die for humanity’s sin so that EVERYONE could be saved because God loves everyone that as long as we just BELIEVE that Jesus came to die for your sins that we will have eternal life after death.

The problem I have personally with Islam is that it’s just impossible to know how much to give or to live a God-guided life that we can be guaranteed eternal life. I also have a problem with the idea the better we live, the more virgins we will have in heaven – that sort of idea just reminds me that we’re doing this to be fulfilled sexually and it’s a very self-centred one.

Now I went through the website you gave me which lead to an interesting read and made me think what language did Jesus speak and it seems there’s some sort of concensus he spoke Aramic whilst some say Hebrew (local language…?) or Greek (trading language). Except, I’m not sure why you sent me that link haha! Lemme know in your next reply =)

      20. Hi Kidd, thanks for the link, yes its such and interesting read. 🙂

Hi Penguin, thanks for taking the time to reply. Your links were interesting reads as well.

Thanks for correcting me about the figures, I do admit that I got them mixed up having read a piece about lost books of the bible before. What I meant to query was if the Nicene council had the Hebrew texts destroyed, and King James had the authority to include or exclude books of his choice, how can we be sure that the current copy contains all the information one needs? If councils and Kings have messed around with the selection before, surely some must end up lost somewhere. Like the gospel of Mary Magdalene or these 10 books and these are just some, I believe there are others out there we haven’t heard of. Maybe even locked up in the Vatican library.

        http://listverse.com/2012/07/06-10-books-not-included-in-the-new-testament/

As for my parents, I love them to bits. I just hope they will want to read out of their comfort zone someday. It doesn’t have to change their belief or anything. When I was younger, she did not allow me to read The Da Vinci Code or watch the movie either. She worried it would ‘corrupt’ my belief. I remember saying Tom Hanks isn’t going to corrupt my belief, he’s Forest Gump. Strangely enough, she watched and allowed me to watch The Passion of Christ, by Mel Gibson which I thought was just…so graphic.

Oh ya pertaining to Jesus talking in the third party, that was what it was taught as well in the Catholic church and that was how we taught the children as well. We were even taught this simple analogy that if we needed to guide a flock of sheep, would it be easier to guide them as a human or be like one of them and guide them as a leading sheep. It would be easier to take their form and be like them, and that’s why Jesus came in human form to be like us and guide us because it would be easier for us to identify with him. I just really want to find out if there are other alternative answers to these complexities. Like to complexity of the Trinity idealogy.

As for Islam that you mentioned, its actually pretty clear cut, its also possible to know exactly how much to give or to live a God guided life. Muslim just actually means a person who obeys and does God’s will. Now to be a very average Muslim, one just needs to believe in just that one God, the God of Abraham, Moses and Adam. Belief in Islamic monotheism and in the Prophet pbuh. Then the 4 requirements of prayers, Fasting, Charity, hajj. These are just the very basics, coupled with the articles of faiths and the Quran, Hadith and the Sunnah. But this is just the minimum like just a student who wants to cover the basics of an exam but not necessarily be the higher graded or top student. Of course one should aim for being better than that, that’s where you add in the Power Ups. Like the extra ‘non compulsory but you get rewarded if you do’ extra type of prayers and so on and so forth. So one actually does know how much to give, its just a matter of personal choice whether they want to be the average Sunday Catholic who just go to church for an hour each week or in my words, a Minimalist Muslim. Or a devout Catholic who puts in more effort, more time, more everything.

Also with the concept of the virgins, in my opinion, that’s really been a hot selling point for people who want to train terrorists. I mean, they lure them with this talk of suicide bombing and calling it martyrdom and the promise that you get virgins promised to you. Now how I see it is anyone with some Sesame Street brains would know that suicide is wrong and sinful in Islam. Hell there ain’t no virgins waiting anywhere foe shure! Especially not for this minority of brain washed or gullible out group.

While how I see the virgins concept is like the Garden of Eden, everything is pure, everyone is naked but there is only beauty and no shame, no jealousy etc.

I do not think that other Muslims believe in their faith in order to get to heaven for some self fulfilling free virgins, like ‘hey son, pray well for there are virgins awaiting. Extra Value Meal Up Sized’. Lol!

I don’t think Muslims think that way. Least not in my family or the people I know. Like we do good and obey God with the knowledge that a reward awaits us for good that we do and punishment awaits us for all the bad that we do. Everyone just tries to do more good than bad cos you know, we don’t want to get our a$$e$ burned in hell and we try to do good because God has been so merciful and we do things to be closer to God and for love of God. But I can assure you that it will not be done with virgins in mind. 🙂

Those with only virgins in mind, well, those are the people you see on all the new channels, doing murderous things then saying its for God.

Well the previous link I posted, just for extra reading, I mean, if you are like me and like to read things from everywhere.

      21. Siying,

Sorry for my late reply, and thanks for your reply to my question as well.

Regarding the question, the reason why I am interested in your origin is that I just want to know out of curiosity. Ha! Ha!

And I did not actually act like, “What the..hell!!!” when reading your reply because I already knew–or expected–that you have at least been living in 3 different countries, or maybe 4, based on your previous comments prior to this article. And then it turns out to be 5, so a little bit surprised but obviously not “what the…hell!!!”

Which middle eastern country are you living?

      22. hi qwerty,

Lol yea that was my mum’s reaction so I thought it would be a universal reaction. ‘You guys are moving again?! What the…’ lol.

That was actually good as compared to daddy’s reaction ‘So when are you moving again? Are you sure you are not doing anything illegal? You both behave like fugitives.’

I currently live in El Gouna, just a small town along the Red Sea. According to my dad, I’m just staking out here so that Interpol can’t reach me.

      23. “One of the easiest questions I asked was this ‘Adam and Eve were the first people on Earth, and then they had kids, then their kids had to procreate right to populate the earth, but they were of the same parents Adam and Eve, how could that be since they were siblings?’ You should have seen my Mum’s face when I asked her that…but my husband’s answer was that in the early time of Adam, it was permissible to intermarry between siblings but there had to be a distinction between them about who married who.”

How do you know that God did not create other humans other than Adam and Eve? Adam and Eve might be the first humans he created, but he could have created other humans elsewhere later. He is God after all. How do you know that siblings intermarried? Was there any people stated in the bible that were siblings and intermarried to justify your answer?? Lastly, do you know if the valley of death is real or is it just a metaphor?

      24. “How do you know that God did not create other humans other than Adam and Eve?”

There are some things you do not question but just have faith in the concept, like this one. After all some may find it hard to believe we descended from monkeys. Anyway God created Adam from the land? Mud? Eve from Adam’s rib? Which makes women stronger. God did not create anyone else. Adam and Eve of course mated. But we can assume their DNA was the first, purest and untainted so their children a little tainted, etc etc etc until now it is so tainted you can’t mate with your family member if not problem starts.

Why be so cruel to your mom to say such a thing. Religion is about logic; it is about fantastic tales based on reality.Let the tales be. However you do not believe about the tall tales and all, let’s not mock it. You can’t take the tall tales literally but there is always fact in it.

      25. KK to answer your question;

“Was there any people stated in the bible that were siblings and intermarried to justify your answer?? ”

In old testament, a lot. Egyptians did it. Sodom and Gomorrah in the Genesis did it. Between father and daughters. But the daughters drugged the father first before sleeping with him. I am sure there are more but that one was the most vivid and my fave chapter in the Bible.

      26. hi Funn,
Thanks for your answers, really appreciate it 🙂

        Hi KK,
when I raised that question to my mum, it was within the context that we believed in the Abrahamic religions. Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Hence for these religions, we would believe that Adam and Eve were the first people created and I believe in the Torah, Bible and Quran, lineage and ancestry was mentioned. It tells of who Adam and Eve birthed, and then who came after and so on. So just for example in no proper order, Adam and Eve, Abraham, Jacob, Cain and Abel, Isaac and Ishmael, Mary and Elizabeth, John and Jesus etc etc.

However, I believe that outside of these Abrahamic religions, such as in the Church of Scientiology, which I attended once, I suppose they do not believe in such. That there is no God who created anything and that the world came into being by itself.

Pertaining to the second part of your question, Funn has given a detailed response. 🙂

Also do you mean the valley of death as in Psalm 23 of the bible or the Death Valley in the United States?

      27. Siying

        “Church of Scientiology”

Interesting. Are they as controlling as all those critics say they’re? I read nothing but craziness every time Scientology is mentioned.

      28. “Religion is about logic; it is about fantastic tales based on reality.”

Funn Lim, since when religion=logic? I’m not mocking it, though.

      29. Hi Funn, 🙂

It was a very chance encounter, many years ago, I was on holiday and we had free time, so after breakfast, my cousin and I went exploring around, then we saw this gate of an old building along the street, among other shops on the left and right, with a very small sign saying Church of Scientiology. Its not flashy or anything. I remembered Tom Cruise so I got curious and I persuaded my cousin to go in with me. (Wow, this is sounds like a beginning of how female tourists get caught and shipped and sold as slaves)

So we went in and I was expecting some really futuristic Star Trek stuff like some set ups, some laser lights that sort of stuff. But nothing.Just some simple shelving displaying some papers, some picture of this man, I think its the president of the church or some founder, must have been some big shot.

There was this nice elderly female church staff to come greet us and ask if its our first time, then she told us where the Main hall was and the other side were classrooms where we could attend courses for self improvement. Then she told us if we would be interested to attend their service which commends a little later, in the meantime just fill in some free survey/questionnaire. So we did that, it was one of those like ‘How would you rate your happiness at this moment’, ‘Do you feel that you are in control of your life’ that sort of questionnaire.

Then she briefed us, or rather try to up sell us their courses, they have print outs and pamphlets, but we said we’d give it some thought. A little bit like typical sales tactic I faced about purchasing gym membership.

Then it was time for the service, so we went and there were some people there. Having previously attended Catholic masses and Christian charismatic services, I was expecting some singing, some redemption, some salvation, some people crying, people raising their hands and speaking in tongues. That sort of stuff.

Nothing. Nothing of those. No mention about God, about a higher power, nobody crying, no salvation. Nothing. They just read aloud, they have sermon and its lecture style. The power comes from within ourselves, man. We control our lives, we decide how we want to live, happiness is all determined by you. What have you done so far with your life? That sort o stuff. Kind of dry, kind of boring, not evangelical, not charismatic.

It was all very much like a Self Help Group thing to me. I’m not sure if they have changed or improved now since this was sometime ago. 🙂

      30. @Siying

“When I was younger, she did not allow me to read The Da Vinci Code or watch the movie either. She worried it would ‘corrupt’ my belief.

Strangely enough, she watched and allowed me to watch The Passion of Christ, by Mel Gibson which I thought was just…so graphic.”

This is not strange at all. ‘Passion of Christ’ might be graphic but the message behind the movie is in alignment with the Bible and Christian belief.

Da Vinci Code, on the other hand, is about conspiracy and stuff behind the Christian faith. The story lean more towards the Gnostic history and other Christianity related subject that is not accepted in the mainstream/legal/authorised Christian teaching/history.

Btw, ‘Passion of Christ’ is one powerful movie. I remember reading a news about a guy confessing to his crime after watching POC.

      31. hi Kidd 🙂

It was quite strange for me at that time because I was puzzled how she would think that one film could shake up my belief, I always thought it would take much more than.

Oh yes, Passion of Christ, that was some powerful stuff. Up until then, I’ve never actually seen anything that gory. I really don’t know what other way to describe it except traumatising. Lol.

    2. I can absolutely relate and totally get you Nicole. 🙂

I think you are brave to read and find out.

You are right that people should read up more independently from different sources and then decide for themselves. My parents are still Catholic, they rely on the church’s doctrines and teachings. They do not want to read more out of their comfort zone, they have the fear that they would lose their way of what they have always known. I can understand that fear but I wish they would be brave like you.

To my mother when I first started reading, she felt I was on the path to destruction. She said that the devil has gotten into me and hence I no longer served in the church ministries. I only stopped because I witnessed how hypocritical the people were in those ministries and how they treated each other and at that time my young mind could not accept that these so called volunteers who supposedly are more zealous in their faith and who preach bout God and quote biblical verses left and right much more than the average person, would behave like that. So I left it all behind and I never looked back.

      1. God is more than christianity. So you’re an atheist?

      2. What? It has been a few days, and you guys are still discussing in this article?

Funn Lim, maybe it is not appropriate for me to butt in since you are not asking me but Siying. However, Siying is ex-Catholic converted to Islam. Scroll up and you can find that her statement in this article.

Are you christian or buddhist, Funn Lim?

      3. hi Funn and qwerty, 🙂

Sorry I didn’t reply earlier cos I thought Funn was asking Nicole if she was an Atheist?

Until I read your reply qwerty then re read Funn’s question before realizing it could possibly be a question for me.

Yea I’m an ex Catholic converted to Islam. Its my fault if Funn didn’t see my reply cos I’m too long winded in the above post. Lol.

      4. Siying, may I ask why you converted to Islam? Marriage or personal choice?

        Qwerty.

“Are you christian or buddhist, Funn Lim?”

Neither. I believe in God but not one specific one. To be honest when I am in trouble I pray to any God I get my hands on. I am that sort of “religious” person! I don’t quite believe Christianity fully, Buddhism is too hard, Hinduism way too many deities and all to keep track and Islam in my country will change my fundamental rights and so I am not agreeable to be a Muslim. So basically I believe in God, just not any specific branch.

I am definitely not into judaism or Scientology.

      5. Hi Funn, 🙂

I converted to Islam by choice then got married later. There was a period of time in my life where I was out on a ‘quest’ finding answers to my questions. I would think there was a period I was almost atheist but then when I got into trouble, I did what you did, pray to God. So like you, I’ve always believed in a higher power.

I met my husband when I was on my ‘quest’ but he has never persuaded me to become a Muslim. He believed that I had to choose it for myself and that I should convert only if I believed and not to commit unless I was sure I was ready and sincere. He did provide answers to my questions and different perspectives to what I knew. But I could not rely on him alone, so I went to buy books, join courses, watch documentaries, attend talks.

But I’m a person who does not get sold into easily, so for the longest time, I knew it all made sense but I didn’t want to convert.

There was one incident which was very serious and life changing for me and I really, really needed a miracle.

So I tested/challenged God. I had the audacity because I was so desperate. When people are so desperate, I suppose they have the courage to do anything.

In my heart I just challenged him like this, ‘If you help me this once, I will believe that there is only one God, I will believe in the creator, the God of Abraham. I will become a Muslim.’

        Bam! 3 hours later. Miracle.

I had no reason not to believe anymore, so I converted.

Though I was very thankful but I was also very, very scared when I got that miracle because it proved to me that a higher power out there heard what was in my heart and ‘answered’ me.

      6. oh, interesting. Mind to share the incident in details, Siying?

      7. hi qwerty, 🙂

I was involved in a terrible accident, the car was so smashed up that it had to be scrapped.

My mind was awake as I could feel myself taking to myself but I could not see anything. I didn’t know how badly injured I was, but I was in very sharp pain all over. I would describe it as if large concrete slabs had fallen all over me and pinned me down.

Somewhere amidst that sharp pain and the confusion and the disbelief of what was really happening, I just prayed for the pain to go away. Like oh God just stop this and take it away. Somewhere between what seem like eternity and forever, I just tested God because it was just so painful.

I think I must have passed out or they put me to sleep, I really don’t know but what I remember was hearing a beep, beep, beep, beep which I thought was an alarm clock and then I saw my mum and she was crying.

So I asked her where I was and she said in ICU and I asked her how long I’d been here and she said 3 hours.

I stayed in ICU for some time then got moved to a high dependency ward and then a regular room.

I had a lot of work done, fractured ribs, broken arm, broken leg, a concussion that almost stole my vision, swollen face, bruises everywhere, some open wounds here and there. I also hurt my back and neck. Aye. Just very messed up.

Miraculously, I survived and I have no major scars except for one on my leg which I use a whitening fading cream to make it less noticeable.

      8. Siying,
Your story is indeed a miracle! It’s indeed terrifying to be involved in any sort of auto accident. I’m glad to hear that you recovered so well without any after effects.

      9. hi Jayne 🙂

Yes I am truly grateful to be given a second chance. I had a friend who was 19 years old and I had met him just a few days before he had a motorcycle accident, the next time I heard from him, it was his mother that sent out a text message from his handphone informing us that he had passed away and in it were the wake and funeral details. Just 2 years ago, I came to know a girl who had lost her fiance in a motorcycle accident as well. Such events are very sad and very tragic.

The psychological effects after did affect me for a period of time, when I could get out of my house, I insisted to only walk to the places I needed to go. So I never went very far for sometime.

For years I did not dare to drive and it is my husband who has been slowly encouraging me to go behind the wheel again. I too believed that I must not let any bad experiences or fear control my life.

Now I’m alright but I only drive when necessary, like if I need to go into the main city for their bigger supermarket or if I need to take the kids somewhere. But I’m still scared so I drive like a snail. I sometimes get rude honks but I don’t really care.

      10. Siying,
Second chances make us more appreciative of what life offers us. Unfortunately, many don’t have this chance.

It’s likely your positive nature that helped you recover so well post-accident. I’m glad that you have overcome your fears, and a little caution on the road is always good to ensure safety. Too many people drive irresponsibly while half asleep or fatigued at the wheel, which endangers other drivers.

      11. Hi Jayne 🙂

Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m very grateful. Yes caution is always good and I would advice everyone to just stay on the safe side. My mother’s golden saying ‘Better late than never’.

Sometimes we may not be the careless drivers but an oncoming vehicle could be. So if everyone is mentally alert and aware, we may be able to prevent some very serious accidents

Yup it is always difficult to stay awake on very long drives, especially during the dark and cold winter months, so its important to take breaks and if possible to take turns driving with someone else. 🙂

    3. oh ya Funn,
One more thing I noticed was that during their service, they don’t collect any donations from people. Unlike the Catholic or Christian services I attended. BUT all their courses cost money.

Whereas in the Catholic churches I went, all the courses were free, but they have wardens that passed around a bag to collect donations for the church at a point during mass.

  10. If article is true, she’s moving in the right step… It’s always good to forget your past and move on from it regardless of what the force is behind this urge.

Let’s give Cecilia a break. If I was in her position, I would want some support from my fans …

    1. whatever it is it won’t change that cecilia’s resume now is known as a box office poison, terrible actress, and a divorced mother with an x rated past. none of this sounds good.

      1. sel_fi_wu – you are still focus on the past. The past can haunt you or better define you. Everyone makes mistakes, it’s just unfortunate that hers were all over the web.

In the end of this, her mistakes did no harm to your life so why constantly remember the horrible things about her?

  11. You can not be a victim of any scandal unless you are willing to do something that might have the potential of coming back to haunt you (skeletons in your closet) such x-rated photos or movies, taking illegal drugs or getting drunk, or getting arrested for a crime whether big or small. You are born with a brain and unless you are born as an imbecile, you should have developed some common sense to dictate what is right or wrong. Oh yes, hopefully, your parents provided you some decent upbringing and social values.

  12. I wonder why some people think that religion can resolve everything??

    1. I’m guessing it’s because they’ve tried a lot of things but end up empty handed. Religion usually encompasses a whole complex way of life so whether it works or not, it’s a longer process than most things people do to escape bad things

      1. Thanks for your answer. But I personally think people should not rely on religion too much because it can become a burden and cause people to do even worse things as well…

    2. What made you think that people “use” religions as a formula to resolve everything?

I know there are people who tried to use laws, money, and cultural beliefs to resolve everything but then ended up accomplishing nothing.

    3. @I wonder why some people think that religion can resolve everything??

Because they want to believe what they have been told, that’s after all the bad things they have done, they will be forgiven once they believe in the lord. Since it’s so easy & simple, it’s very tempting- it makes you feel hopeful & GOOD!!! But it also gives many people the leeway to do lots of bad things. No problem , as long as you repent in the end- you’ll be fine! Just don’t seem logical to me!…lol…

    4. Religion cannot resolve everything. Only God and faith can…perhaps people may find strength in it when all things failed.

  13. i am glad I not a “christian.”I am Buddhist.

    1. Loorr!
      Please don’t say so!
I believe be it Christianity or Buddhism, both taught us to be a better person.

  14. I am not a CC fan, but I think we should be reasonable here. Many people are divorved. God forbid that their resume is laden in darkness and negativity. That divorce makes them lesser people. God Forbid. Her past is not XRated. How many cuoples who are in a relationship make intimate videos of themselves. It is not even Edison’s fault. Blame belongs to that waste of life computer technicion, who violated the rights and privacy. Of eddie and the girls, by trying to get richoff of their private moments. Fix the damn computer, and let it be. You are entrusted with delicate data, do not break the work ehthics law. . Techie skunk is the one who destroyed these people. An X Rated past is a person who worked in porn, knowingly making movies for the public’s viewing pleasure, while having sex with total strangers. CC and the others did not do that. She deserves a second chance. I hope the ones putting her down have never made a mistake, and I also hope they are sinless. AMEN`

  15. How can any religion wipe out sins??? ONce you commit a sin, you have to live with it, learn from it and try to repent from it…

    1. Most important is learn to let go of it, forgiving ourselves is to me the hardest thing to do.

    2. Good point!! I don’t believe there is an existing religion with that claim except the for this article.

    3. Not of this world but for the after life… If we killed someone on earth, you are still punishable by the country’s law. But if you honestly repent and grieved for your wrongdoings to God, God will forgive your sins through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

  16. U cannot wipe out sins just like that.I believe in Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism. The eternal immutable truth of Buddhism lies in the law of cause and effect. Nichiren Daishonin name this Law Mystic Law of the Lotus Sutra or Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.To be a better person one needs adequate Wisdom. Why? Our level of wisdom determines our choice and judgement from time to time. All actions culminating from words, thoughts and deeds will create a karma good or bad and effects will surface when the time is right and the external factors come into place. But in between cause and effect there is ‘relation’. A relation with the Mystic Law or rather a bond thru faith and practice enable us to accumulate wisdom…to face our karma, to overcome them and even to lessen karmic retribution. Only these are made possible by fusing our lives with the Gohonzon( entity of the Buddha’s life condition) of Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.

  17. Hello Siying. I read your story and it is tough to go through the experiences you encountered. You are indeed a brave young woman. I am so glad you are conquering fears one step at a time. We should become prisoners of fear. Keep pressing on dear lady.

    1. hi Trini 🙂

Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement, I appreciate it very much. I suppose I feel a little old for my bones given some of the stuff I’ve gone through but I know there are others who have gone through worse and so I am very grateful to just be me. 🙂

Wish you and Mrs Trini and your beautiful children a wonderful weekend ahead. 🙂

    2. I meant to say, we should not become prisoners of fear. So sorry about the typo Siying. I wish you and your family a wonderful weekend too

      1. hi Trini 🙂

Thanks for clarifying the typo, I appreciate it. We’ll be heading to Dubai tomorrow to get some stuff done for the upcoming Eid. See you all when I get back. Take care. 🙂
