Fala Chen to Participate in “Triumph in the Skies 2” Promotional Activities
Fala Chen (陳法拉) has been vague about her career plans since her TVB management contract ended in May. The 31-year-old spoke publicly about her travel plans and acting class in New York but kept mum on her future in television.
Last week Fala was spotted at the set of Gordan Chan’s (陳嘉上) upcoming horror film Tales from the Dark <李碧華鬼魅系列>, prompting rumors that she is focusing on the film industry. In more recent interviews, Fala clarified that she has a good working relationship with TVB and is currently negotiating a new contract with the company. TVB also seems determined to retain Fala, and has invited her to promote the highly anticipated series Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄2> despite her current status.
To generate buzz for Triumph in the Skies 2, which is set to air on July 15, TVB has recruited the series’ lead cast Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), Chilam Cheung (張智霖), Ron Ng (吳卓羲), and Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) to promote the series. While TVB traditionally omitted former artistes at promotional events, the company made a surprising exception for Fala, who agreed to take breaks from her studies in order to participate.
In a phone interview, Fala pointed to professionalism as a reason for her decision. “Honestly there is no professional conflict [between TVB and I] regarding my decision to go back to school. I am one of the cast members; it is my responsibility to promote the series.”
With just two weeks to go before school begins, Fala finds it difficult to ask for days off to attend the events. “The first event will take place at the end of June in Malaysia. I have especially requested for a day off from school so I can fly there directly from New York. However, I cannot always take time off once school begins.” Asked if she will participate in any future events. Fala replied, “I don’t know. I received one event invitation so far. I will try to coordinate later. It really is very difficult to ask for time off. It is also very tiring to fly from New York to Hong Kong to do promotions. The flight tickets are so expensive!”
HotCha member Regen Cheung (張惠雅) spoke briefly about Fala at the blessing ceremony for her TVB comeback Mr. & Mrs. Bean <貓屎媽媽> today. Regen was rumored to be on bad terms with Fala after she was caught secretly meeting Fala’s boyfriend Daniel Sit (薛世恒) in 2011. At the event, reporters asked Regen to comment about her return to TVB so soon after Fala’s contracted ended. Regen replied, “If I have such strong influence over others, I’d rather ask TVB to give me more dramas to film. I really don’t have this much influence.” When asked if she is disappointed over losing the opportunity to collaborate with Fala, Regen quickly replied, “Not at all! We have never worked together before. It would be nice if the opportunity arises, because I entered the industry when I was 15 years old. I’ve known her since I was very young.”

im sure our face changes every year. look at ur old pictures every 2 years…
Bear, not really. Either we age or not we still look the same when we reach adulthood and until perhaps 50s, 60s unless you smoke/drink/party hard. That being said, I don’t think she did anything. But I look at the picture above and the first thing the came to my mind was “Nikki Chow?”

Chin doesn’t grow but when you lose a significant amount of baby fat, which Fala definitely did… the chin happens look more narrow or sharper that’s how I see it.
Also, it can be the hair too. Lol.

So the cast of Triumph in the Skies II is coming to Malaysia? I have not heard of this!
If Fala has only received notice of a single promotional event so far, it doesn’t sound like TVB in interested in her participation at all. It’s airing next month. Hard to believe they don’t have more events lined up already, so either they are terrible at noticing people or they don’t care about her attending.
