Fred Cheng Celebrated Birthday with 100 Fans

Fred Cheng (鄭俊弘) has been in the entertainment industry for 11 years, but it was only after the publicity of The Voice: Stars’ Legend <星夢傳奇> that allowed him to achieve his career breakthrough.

Turning 30 years old on November 10, over a 100 fans gathered earlier to celebrate the big occasion and mark a new beginning ahead for Fred’s career. From being a virtually unknown artist only several months ago, Fred now has his own dedicated music fan club.

While there were some younger fans, most consisted of middle-aged women, and even an 80-year-old grandma! Fred was highly touched by the number of people who turned up, who presented him with a guitar-shaped cake. Fred’s big smile never left this face throughout the celebration. He celebrated with his family for his official birthday, and was vague when prompted about rumored girlfriend, Lesley Chiang (姜麗文).

For this year’s birthday wish, Fred wants to release his own album. It was this dream that propelled him to join singing competition, The Voice: Stars’ Legend, and share his music talent with the world. Viewers were not only impressed by Fred’s voice, they were also highly moved by his personal story: his struggles as an actor and growing up as a child in a single parent family. Fred often cried on every episode, and his likable personality and fighter spirit soon won over thousands of followers. Early in the competition, it was apparent that Fred was the audience’s favorite.

Next year looks to be a promising year ahead for Fred. Aside from developing his music career, TVB also cast Fred in upcoming drama, Eye in the Sky <天眼>, which stars Tavia Yeung (楊怡), Ruco Chan (陳展鵬), Kenny Wong (黃德斌), Tony Hung (洪永城), and Matt Yeung (楊明). Fred is also featured in the 2014 TVB calendar and was a prominent star at the Sales Presentation event.

    1. Yes, I sing and play the piano too and like Eric Moo, Eric Kwok, etc, always nic-pick on contestants with their techniques and delivery. Most of the time my criticism were spot-on as these judges.

I picked Fred to win starting from Episode 1. I also like his personality, humbleness, dedication and especially his own singing style. You can tell most of the judges know he’ll go far.

Love you Fred, congratulations, happy birthday. Here is another fan from Australia.
