Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, and Kate Tsui Will Stay at TVB as Long as Virginia Lok Remains
Regarding the recent mass resignation wave at TVB, Raymond Lam (林峰) smiled and said, “As long as Virginia Lok (樂易玲) remains at TVB, I will stay as well! Artists can make their own choice. I have been at TVB for numerous years and have witnessed much turbulence.” Raymond said that he knew Ms. Lok very well personally, however she will also help other artists. In Raymond’s mind, both Ms. Lok and Stephen Chan (陳志雲) were good executives at TVB.
Asked whether he was staying at TVB due to his “biological son” status, Raymond noted, “I am not the only biological son.” Since he just renewed his TVB management contract, Raymond revealed that his contract will not expire until a long time. Raymond praised TVB for developing his performance career. Regarding accusations that TVB was stingy, Raymond spoke up for the company, “Large institutions need to balance their resources.” Asked whether Raymond was receiving $150,000 Yuan per episode while filming in mainland China, Raymond laughed and said that was his price much earlier!
Kate Tsui: “Virginia Lok Is Very Important to Me!”
Kate Tsui (徐子珊) indicated that she had received a recruitment offer earlier. However, she did not pay attention to the call and hung up after thanking the caller, in which she was uncertain who had called. Kate’s family taught her to remember her roots (飲水思源). Kate said that Virginia Lok was very important to her as she gave her a lot of opportunities. Kate will not consider leaving the nest.
Kate felt that the recent high staff turnover will not affect the morale of the troops. Kate joked that TVB often weathered many storms. Asked whether she thought about getting a salary raise, Kate indicated that money was not the most important. She did not hear about her peers leaving and believed that many colleagues want to stay at TVB.
Bosco Wong: “I Received a Poaching Offer”
Appearing at a promotional event, Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) admitted that he received a recruitment offer from Ricky Wong’s (王維基) City Telecom via text message. Bosco revealed that he still had a multi-year contract with TVB. He felt that the text message he received was forwarded [to many artists], but he did not respond to it. He was uncertain whether girlfriend, Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), received the same message. “The message was general in content. Perhaps his subordinate distributed it. I do not know whether Myolie received the same message.”
Bosco believed that an increase in pay was a good thing and was envious of Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎), whose salary increased sixteen-fold. Professing that as long as Virginia Lok remained at TVB, he will not have the desire to leave the company.

Appearing at a promotional event for the 2011 Asian Film Festival, Myolie acknowledged that she received a call from Ricky Wong, Chairman of City Telecom. Surprised by the call, Myolie indicated that she still had a long-standing management contract with TVB. Since she was “raised” by TVB, Myolie felt it was important to not forget her roots.
Regarding good partner, Kevin Cheng’s filming fee jumping sixteen-fold, Myolie laughed that she will ask him to treat for a meal. However, Myolie understood that earning money in mainland China required one to withstand homesickness of Hong Kong. Since Myolie was filming in China at the end of the year, the reporter asked whether she will miss boyfriend, Bosco Wong. Myolie smiled and requested not to mention Bosco’s name.

I will be happy if he films more films too and sharpen his skills more, but Jayne, the risk is that the films that he’s making are low budget-films, and some Shaw Brothers’ films that he should film are postponed. “Speculations” rose that it’s because Shaw is concentrating its budget for Lives of Omission movie this year, and other films shelved first.

Until Bosco ventures outside of Shaw Brothers, he will not be truly leaving his safety net.
It will take time, but I believe Bosco has the social skills to succeed in the more complex film industry, where networking skills will help him a lot.

LOL, I think Bai Co possessed an air of mystery and ambiguity that is not usually found in cheerful Bosco. The character possessive a destructive air, especially towards love. I much prefer his sunshine personality and positive energy though!

I think Bosco can play those “Are you serious?!” sort of deadpan look. Somehow even in serious drama he looks… like that “Are you serious?!” deadpan look. His eyes lack fire. It’s like a very disbelieving eyes. I hope he opens his eyes a bit wider instead of the Tavia old look like zombie look.
Jayne, “Bai Co” has become my favorite Bosco character and my favorite work of him to date. It gives him more room to explore the character and develop his nuance, thus why Bosco also mentioned he thanked the producer for giving him this opportunity to be “Bai Co”. What a pity that the characterizations and plot can actually be written better by the screenwriters.

Kidd, Taiwan TV industry environment are different. It’s a norm for the artistes there to “play young” and girls will still go oh-la-la upon them since the artistes are “cute”.
TBB has a different environment. It will be awkward to watch the current siu sangs still playing college boys or energetic youth. Besides those roles can be used to nurture the newcomers. Mc Jin, Adrian Chau and Daniel Chau can take over these cute, energetic young roles now..haha.

I think it’s because it’s hard for some people believe that an actress can change and grow and mature in her acting. It’s hard for the audience to move one once they see a bad performance from you. That one bad performance will always overshadow your later good ones.

These new fadans/siu sangs have achieve such an enstablished reputation in tvb and are currently enjoying from the result like high pays in series, endorsements and etc. PPl will become more realistic when it comes to choose their own career and future.

Kate’s roles are likable? I think that “massive roles given/organized nicely by 620” if put Linda’s name in it will be more suitable. Kate’s roles are easier to hate than Linda’s. Even Fala’s roles are likable than Kate. Just take MR as example, among the girls, Kate’s role is easiest to hate. Until now, Kate still dun have that much likable girl. So give her a little credit for her rising name.

SM also got little fans backing him when he was young but how far can he get w/o 620 support? it’s undeniable that LF has received strong backup from 620 to achieve up to this level. Artist who had bad scandal will probably got frozen by tvb but LF just continue getting more and more job offers with 620 help to protect LF.

Like how diplomatic and open-ended Myolie’s statement is. For her, it’s not about money, but rather the contract terms. She did not mention if she likes or dislikes TVB’s contract terms. So, we will never really know if she’s happy or unhappy with being in TVB. However, she also recognizes that she owes a lot from TVB. TVB has helped groomed her talent and paid her salary throughout the years. I think Myolie is still grateful for TVB grooming and paying her. She knows not to bite the hand that feeds her. I do think that eventually she’ll move on from TVB. Either to movies or the mainland. It’s not being ungrateful or selfish. It’s about leaving the nest and expanding your horizons. When you move out of your parent’s home, it’s not because you’re ungrateful or had an unhappy home. It’s because you want to broaden your horizons and garner more life experience.

I dont think 620 will leave/resign from tvb. I mean how can a company just fired their staff w/o a solid reason right? No company will do that, although 620 only promote those she likes and segregate those she didnt favor, she still hasn’t breach her employement’s rules as stipulated in her contract or whatsover. Tvb probably will just replace her with Catherine as reported and put 620 to do other things.. so chances of seeing 620 off tvb is slim unless she volunter to resign.

Yeah. It’s funny how people complain how characters in TVB are two black and white, either only good or evil and no between. Yet, people are too quick to judge an artist for supporting VL as bad and anyone who rebels against VL as good. There’s no in between for them. Ironic eh? There’s maybe more to the story about the management that we don’t know? At the end of the day, we can’t trust everything the news tells us.
For the beginning few months, everyone will watch City Telecom programs, whether can have a good rating is hard to predict. If city telecom is doing well, the one that Ricky poaches will ultimately call up Ricky for discussion, by that time Ricky will lay a terms and condition upon the artist. a lot of artists wanted to joined the new company but there r not sure whether CT can do better than TVB.
I think Bosco was good in LOO acting as the dark, evil Bai Co but on the other hand I think he was also good playing comedy roles with Myolie and Lisa Wang. That drama about Lisa being the awful mother-in-law. I still think Bosco has that boyish look about him and so it doesn’t matter whether he plays younger roles or not as long as he improves on his acting.
I love that Mao Chun/Bat Lau Ming character, but when I look clearly, he becomes shallow in comparison to the dark, deeper Bai Co.
The moustache helped a lot in LOO. If not, he might look too boyish and less “dark”

That’s a little dismissive. Gregory Lee was featured in front page HK headlines from June to August 2011. Ricky sounds like a man who is very familiar with HK celebrities, otherwise why would he be personally having dinner with Bowie Lam to recruit him? If Ricky did not know the HK entertainment industry well, he would have simply asked a more experienced recruitment manager to do the talking for him instead.

I don’t think he simply contact. If you look at the artists, they are all TVB first and 2nd line actors.
Some of them are still supporting actors like Chris lai, Angela Tong and Candie.
A series need supporting actors too and actors like Chris Lai and Angela Tong also has a lot of fans.
Remember Angela Tong became uber well know because of that ugly role? And then she got to be leading lady next to Bobby, and I believe she crashed and burn in that series? From kelefe to supporting to lead to supporting again. That must have hurt.

Nobody tune into a series to look at supporting. Someone must headline it. Someone must lead. Of course the lead can’t lead alone with help from others. But if the lead is engaging enough, imagine all 30 episodes of one man show. Quite a possibility, like 3 hours of Tom Hanks on a deserted island with a volleyball as his supporting actor.
to me supporting are actually more important for the quality of a series overall.
ofcourse there will be people who only cares about the leads and that’s why they are important as well.

I happened to watch the majority of “Threshold of a Persona” but was disappointed in the direction of the drama, in which it took too long to build up on the relationships between the people and nothing truly happened. This happened to be the first drama I saw Ruco Chan in too.
