Ron Ng Still in Discussion with TVB About Contract Renewal
Wearing dark gray colors, Ron Ng (吳卓羲) was spotted arriving at TVB City yesterday for the the post-production dubbing work of the upcoming TVB anniversary drama Lord of Shanghai <梟雄>, a week after his father’s death.
As the only son in his family, Ron was expected to be fully engaged in the preparations for his father’s funeral, and thus went on a temporary work hiatus in order to spend more time with his grieving mother and sister. He only recently returned to work. His father’s funeral will be held next month.
Ron was very close to his father and is still in mourning. He said it was heartbreaking to see his father suffering from his sickness, but he also understands that death is a natural part of life, and he is coping.
Although Ron is the only son in his family, he stated that he will not retire from showbiz in order to take care of his family’s business. He expressed that he does not find himself to be a good businessman, and that his mother and sister have been doing a good job in managing his father’s work.
Ron’s TVB contract is coming to an end in a few days. The actor said he has already met up with TVB executives Virginia Lok (樂易玲) and Catherine Tsang (曾勵珍) to talk about the contract renewal, and are still in active discussion. Ron said he hopes to be able to even out his work in both Hong Kong and Mainland China. Both parties are still negotiating.

High chance that Ron will not renew his contract. He has been given second-lead male leads roles too long.

@freedalas
How do you know he has not been missed? I personally do not miss him in TVB series in the sense that I feel he can do better elsewhere because TVB series have gotten worse and worse. I would rather see him in China series since those are miles better than TVB series anyways.

TVB has treated Ron like cr*p in recent years… if he doesn’t resign it would be totally understandable, he might have a better career in the mainland just look at Charmaine and Myolie
@vodka
Totally agree and people complain about Ron’s acting but I think his acting is way better than the leads that TVB currently has. He deserves better so I really hope he can expand his career and become more successful instead of waste his time at TVB. I guess the only good thing about staying in TVB is that he can be closer to home. However, he should relocate for the sake of his future and career.
@hetieshou how is ron better than any make lead tvb currently has? Ruco chan, Wayne lai, raymond wong, kenneth ma, bosco wong, Kevin cheng … Granted, none of them are especially great (I don’t even like raymond, Kevin and kenneth’s acting) but they are indeed better than ron. There’s a reason tvb demoted him.
@peanutbutterjelly TVB promotes artist not because they can act, but because of looks, fame, and politics. They only take advantage of those who can act.
@peanutbutterjelly Ruco is also treated like crap. No drama at all this year. Wonder why he is suddenly demoted
I have a feeling Rain might do what Raymond did. Leave TVB on a good note before his last TVB drama airs where his acting will be spectacular and worthy of an award, but will not be receiving the award cause no longer part of TVB.
Ron can definitely act and certainly deserves better.
Think that Ron would still sign…
