Ruco Chan Doesn’t Want TV King Title
Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) has been heavily promoted by TVB since rejoining the station in 2008. Critically praised for flexing his acting chops in diverse roles, Ruco’s recent performance in Ruse of Engagement <叛逃> could potentially propel him to the TV King battle during the TVB Anniversary Awards. However, Ruco states that getting the Best Actor award is not his goal.
While Ron Ng (吳卓羲) also co-lead in Ruse of Engagement, it was rumored that TVB favored Ruco instead and gave him more screen time. Not worried by the gossip, Ruco stated that fans have different preferences in artistes, so there is a need to support of each other rather than see it as a case for rivalry.
No Interest in Being TV King
While Ruco does not believe that he is being especially promoted by TVB, he appreciates all the opportunities he has been given so far, and hopes to receive more challenging roles. He especially looks forward to starring in a science-fiction production.
Ruco’s goal is not set on the Best Actor award. He said, “It’ll come when it needs to, but the TV King title is not my main goal. I don’t think an actor should be limited by the ability to win an award. If I’m in this for the award, would there be any meaning left? An actor should focus on playing the role well, and the end result would be to see if the audience likes it or not. I won’t put pressure on myself. The Best Actor award is an affirmation, but it doesn’t mean you’re great. I’ll try my best for everything that I want to do.”
Prefers Athletic Girls
Although he has been rumored with co-star Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) many times, he claimed that they are only good colleagues. Ruco revealed that he prefers athletic, straightforward, and tomboy-like girls. He is currently very busy with work and has no time for dating. He does not mind getting married at a later age, preferring to let nature run its course.

His acting is good but after watching his series nothing left in my mind.
Ruse of Engagement has good story outline and character development and the ending is beyond the standardized happy ending. It is good to leave room for further thought. Truly, Ruco acted very well. He shone as to compare with other actors.
I like his mentality. It’s both productive and adapting to circumstances that’s not within his control.
Hmm… want to star in a sci-fic production? Not sure if TVB is the best bet for that. Venture into films maybe?

Haha, I was thinking the same thing… Science fiction never was and probably never will be TVB’s thing no matter how experimental they get. Plus the special effects would be so tacky.

Ruco is a very attractive man; I’m sure he’s not short of beautiful women throwing themselves at him. He is more than just a handsome face, he has good character and personality as well. Just look at his response. Instead of saying that not winning BA doesn’t make one a bad actor, he said that winning the BA is an affirmation but doesn’t mean that he’s the greatest. It’s his humility which endears him to all his fans and which makes him so popular with many readers here.

Love to see his acting. Watch and will watch every series he participated in coz his acting never disappoints me. Even though sometimes the series is not so good and I might forget them BUT I would never forget the characters he played. I more I watch, I more I have him.

Ruco’s response on tv king title: may be he knows tbb’s system won’t allow him to get it sooner than those own born sons, and so not to disappoint his fans. But he’s much excited at getting any award. Just see how he kissed the most popular HK tv actor trophy at e-award, the joy was clearly marked on his face. I also believe that he’s not specially promoted. Tbb owes him justice.

As for kissing the award, he won it 3 times in a row by fan voting. Who knows? Maybe with TVB TV King, he might actually lick the award.
I often feel TVB has always been very biased with their selections. Never fair, it’s always on favouritism. The best actor & best actress award should only go to the person who truly deserves it & not to who ever’s blue eye boy/girl. As such unfairness will dry talents out.

Wait? How long? 3-5 yrs? Ruco might have left tbb or even HK market. He’s frying hot in Mainland China at present. ROE has over 6 billion hitting points(2nd to TITS II),said by PRC fans in weibo. He said in an interview lately that his station is HK for the further 2-3 yrs, i.e. he may renew his contract with tbb for same period only.

I have not been watching much TVB dramas of late and have not got the chance to watch Ruco Chan. But this guys seems to be very honest, no airs and hard working and it seems a lot of positive things were said about him. I was trying to think probably people like him didnt come in to TVB the easiest way, he wasn’t cast for any dramas until of late TVB was lacking of talents. I’ve a feeling he can act better than Moses Chan for example since TVB is promoting Moses am I not right? Good luck to Ruco Chan, hope his career soars.
I do consider Ruco acts better than Moses. Ruco’s acting is impressive to me.
Just compare the working attitude of the two. When being asked about shooting intimate scenes, Moses said he would like to avoid shooting these scenes (probably because he was married and has a child) as far as possible, whilst Ruco said that it won’t be a problem if the circumstances so required since he and his partner should be professional actor/actress. There had been rumors that Moses was originally cast in Brother’s Keeper to act with Ruco as double lead actors. However, Moses turned down the offer since at then time he considered that Ruco was not of his same level.
Moses’s era is over. His series have recorded bottom ratings for the last 2 yrs. Ruco has better looks and acting, and most importantly, more professional. Moses’s position is higher than Ruco in tbb, but the other way round in the minds of majority audience. Who cares about tbb’s position?
1.Moses is married with child.
2. He has had his fair share of kissing even if he kisses like a log of wood and doing CPR
3. Ruco is not married, no girlfriend and he has yet to be A-list in the List A like Moses.
4. Ruco is more ambitious.
Ruco’s the best thing in TVB right now. He can sing and act and looks so smoking hot! Love Ruco so much not only for his talent and looks but also for his humble character. He’s every girl’s dream man ♡♡♡
He’s lying and making news for himself. Every actor/actress want a award whether its TVB KING or Best actor or any type of award to acknowledge the actor and get paid higher and get more fame.
