Tiffany Tang and Ron Ng in “The Cubicle Woman”
All is well and will be better for mainland Chinese fadan, Tiffany Tang (唐嫣). Her most recent drama, A Beauty in Troubled Times <乱世佳人> is well-received both critically and commercially. The drama’s ending theme, “Using a Life’s Memory” <用一生回忆> is also achieving fantastic results in the online market, hitting number one on many musical singles and radio charts. The single’s producer, Singapore singer-writer Yida Huang (黄义达), also plans to release behind-the-scenes footage of Tiffany recording the song in studio.
A Beauty in Troubled Times also star Sammul Chan (陳鍵鋒) and Luo Jin (羅晉), portraying the love interests of Tiffany Tang’s “beauty heroine” character, Zhang Lianxin. The drama is currently airing on Anhui TV to outstanding ratings.
“Using a Life’s Memory” will be released as a physical CD single for Tiffany’s upcoming photo book, Candy Heart<糖心>.
New Drama with Ron Ng
Although achieving success in both television and music, Tiffany cannot find a reason for her to stop. The 29-year-old actress is currently filming modern drama, The Cubicle Woman <格子间女人>, which also stars Hong Kong TVB actor Ron Ng (吳卓羲), Chinese actress Monica Mok (莫小棋), and Korean-American actor Nathan Lee (李承炫).
The Cubicle Woman is based on the Chinese novel of the same name, written by Shu Yi (舒仪). The novel centers on female lead Tan Bin, who struggles to choose between love and career success.
Similar to her role in A Beauty in Troubled Times, Tiffany will portray the business-minded young white-collar worker Tan Bin, a prominent player in business politics. Tiffany immediately accepted the role upon reading her strong female character. For the role, Tiffany was willing to cut off at least fifteen inches of hair. She has not cut her hair in almost twenty years.
Tiffany stated, “Tan Bin is a strong-minded career woman. She looks forward to finding romance, yet it was romance that would cause her much pain and hurt. The drama is filled with business intrigue and betrayal, with many characters each trying to cheat and harm each other. Being a career woman is not as easy as it looks. In order to fight for your own world, you cannot treat yourself as a girl.”
Tiffany’s character will be romantically involved with her co-worker Cheng Ruimin, portrayed by Ron Ng.
