Vincent Wong Praised for Explosive Scene in “My Unfair Lady”
Airing to positive reception, My Unfair Lady <不懂撒嬌的女人> averaged 25 viewership ratings points last week, with episode 15 peaking at 28 points. Hosting a mini celebration to announce the results, over 120 cast, crew, and TVB upper management members attended. Frankie Lam (林文龍), Jessica Hsuan (宣萱), Vincent Wong (王浩信), Samantha Ko (高海寧), and TVB Deputy General Manager, Felix To (杜之克) were present.
Pleased with the overall results of My Unfair Lady, Felix said the series is becoming a phenomenon. Thanking Felix, Jessica exclaimed, “If it weren’t for you who told me to come back, I wouldn’t even be here.”
Saving – Vincent Wong’s Breakthrough
Receiving praise for his character “Saving” throughout the series, Vincent Wong was seen yelling at his big boss Andrew Yuen (袁文傑) in a recent episode. Both the intensity of the scene and Vincent’s anger was compared to 2000’s At The Threshold of an Era <創世紀> where Sunny Chan‘s (陳錦鴻) character was seen screaming at Gallen Lo (羅嘉良).
Admitting that he did take a look at Sunny’s previous performance and used it as study material, Vincent said he was glad that viewers enjoyed the scene. When asked if there would be an alternate happy ending for his character, Vincent revealed there would be only one ending for the series, but said viewers would be surprised.
On the other hand, Samantha Ko was thoroughly surprised but pleased when her character was hated by viewers. Samantha said she was happy about the deep impact the character had, and hopes to receive equally challenging roles in the future.
No Sequel for “My Unfair Lady”
With the finale airing on May 28, Jessica and Frankie were asked about the possibility of appearing in a sequel to My Unfair Lady. Although Jessica expressed that it would dependent on the quality of the script, she believes sequels usually end up being major flops and it is best to end the story at a high point.
Frankie joked that Jessica is too expensive to hire for any future sequels. He exclaimed, “The selling point of this series is Jessica. TVB was able to hire her so everyone should treasure this. Looking over at Jessica’s bemused look, Frankie continued, “Her price is at Hollywood’s level, and my price is more like Plaza Hollywood. I’ll film even if I’m not paid, but the problem is Jessica’s pay.”
When asked if the sequel could take the form of a movie instead, Frankie said that would be a good idea.

Good for Vincent. Able to study and emulate. I liked Sunny but shesh, he was plastered everywhere and typecasted in basically same role.
As for Samatha, I don’t see her appeal. She was neither sexy nor convincing in her role. She was so bland. She bluntly just recited her lines. Her only appeal is her dresses; and that’s costume department work, not hers.
Disclaimer: I haven’t keep up so she might had gotten better in later eps. IDK but I doubt it. There was hype about her in Line Walker and she was a flop there then, lol.

Sorry Jessica and Frankie, but both of you should know by now that if TVB wants to do a sequel, they will do it, regardless of whether others approve or whether they are able to re-assemble the original cast. If they come upon a hit, they will milk it dry and get as much money out of it as possible. Sequel, movie version, stage play, spinoff series (I can totally see TVB doing a “spinoff” with Saving as the main character) – don’t be surprised if any or all of these are made from this series in the future….
Speaking of Sunny – I was surprised to see him at the promo event for Phoenix Rising (the series that TVB plans to air after My Unfair Lady), since he is still under HKTV contract at the moment. He said that Catherine Tsang called him up and when they told him which series, he was surprised, since Phoenix Rising was from 10 years ago. Honestly, when I first heard that TVB planned on airing PR after MUL, I was surprised too – why the hell would they air an old series from 10 years ago (that has already aired multiple times overseas and has been out on DVD for like ages) in their “golden time slot” as though it were a brand new series. Granted, Phoenix Rising was a decent series (not great, but better than some of the newer ones that have aired the past few years), but still…doesn’t make a whole lot of sense…
