The Cast of “Beyond 2” are Really Upset with the Weather
The weather hasn’t been cooperating for the cast of TVB’s Deep in the Realm of Conscience <宮心計2: 深宮計>, sister production to 2009’s Beyond the Realm of Conscience <宮心計>. Principal photography for the showed moved from Hong Kong to Hengdian World Studios last month, but because it’s the “Plum Rain Season” in Zhejiang, not much could be done in the last few days.
“Why? Please tell me why?” wrote Annie Liu (劉心悠) on Instagram. The actress portrays Princess Yuen Yuet, one of the main protagonists on the show. “I strongly hope that the strong rain will strongly leave,” she bemoaned.
Her costar, Chrissie Chau (周秀娜), uploaded a picture of her “crying”. The actress complained about the rain, expressing that the heavy rain had hindered their filming schedule. For the past few days, many of the Deep cast members could do nothing but stay on stand-by for hours, waiting for the rain to stop.
Leading man Steven Ma (馬浚偉), who plays Emperor Xuanzong (Li Longji) on the show, said in a phone interview, “I’ve seen the weather reports, and the next few days will be even worse. I’ve already canceled some schedules. Right now, we’re focusing on shooting my indoor scenes first.”
Steven shared that their worst experience with the rain thus far was when one of their sets flooded. “The hallway had water stains everywhere.” (Return to Hong Kong will be delayed?) “This is expected. I think we’ll be a few days late, but it’s understandable. We’ll work together to finish everything on time.”
The actor said that all the filming delays had allowed him time to go grocery shopping and cook meals for the cast and crew. Hopefully his soup had managed to “cool everyone down”.
