Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Sandra Ng Promote “Monster Hunt 2”
It’s been many years since renowned Hong Kong actors Tony Leung Chiu-wai (梁朝偉) and Sandra Ng (吳君如) have last attended an event together. Yesterday’s press conference of Monster Hunt 2 <捉妖記2> was a media frenzy, as both superstars were in attendance, alongside Mainland Chinese artists Bai Baihe (白百合), Jing Boran (井柏然), Li Yuchun (李宇春), and Ada Liu Yan (柳岩).
The first thing Sandra said when the conference started was acknowledging her former TVB colleague Tony, professing that she doesn’t even remember when was the last time she made an appearance with the award-winning actor. Tony, on the other hand, said filming Monster Hunt was an acting challenge.
Directed by Raman Hui (許誠毅), Monster Hunt 2 is a sequel to the 2015 film of the same name, which was the highest-grossing film in China. The film series take place in a world where the human race and a monster race coexist.
Tony, a new addition to the film, said he enjoyed watching the first movie and had fun learning about the film’s world setting. He talked about the challenges of playing against a CGI character, saying, “I was basically talking to the air!”
When speaking about the upcoming Lunar New Year, Tony shared that he will be celebrating it in Hong Kong. “I will visit some friends, but will not be playing mahjong.” He also said he enjoys eating Lunar New Year candy and food, especially if it’s mango flavored.
Sandra, who plays a monster in the film, joked about how she hasn’t heard Tony speak so much in a long time. “It’s such a rare occurrence to hear Tony talking about his big Lunar New Year plans!” Sandra said her daughter is a fan of the film series, especially the character Wuba. She will be spending the holiday at the theaters with her daughter, watching the film.
Monster Hunt 2 will be released on February 16, Lunar New Year.
