Michelle Ye Lost Defamation Lawsuit and Received a New Restraining Order
Michelle Ye (葉璇) and stylist, Mr. Xiao Mo (小默先生), are very public with their relation and the two often show their affection for each other on social media. Recently it has been reported that Michelle and Mr. Xiao Mo have split up amid a defamation court case and a restraining order.
It all started when Mr. Xiao Mo’s ex-girlfriend, Ms. Lu, posted on social media detailing Mr. Xiao Mo was two-timing and implied Michelle was involved. In retaliation, Michelle sued Ms. Lu for defamation. The court record filed in August of this year referred Michelle as Mr. Xiao Mo’s ex-girlfriend and indicated that the defamation lawsuit ended in Ms. Lu’s favor.
Michelle was ordered to stop attacking Ms. Lu, apologize and offer compensation within 10 days. To this day, Michelle has not fulfilled the conditions of the defamation court case, while Ms. Lu has further added fire to the drama by issuing Michelle a restraining order in the Shanghai court.
The restraining order is set to forbid Michelle from spending on “luxury and non-work related items.” This bans Michelle from buying properties, staying in star-graded hotels, flying on air planes and going on vacations. If Michelle requires any items on the restricted list, Michelle must obtain prior approval in the Court of Shanghai or could be fined and be detained.
In a blog, Ms. Lu issued the following statement. “Three years ago, a desperate woman attacked me on Weibo to make herself feel better. I was weak and the financial burden was hard on me. Good thing justice is on my side. Friends, please help me check that Michelle is following the restraining order and advise her to accept my kindness. It is illegal for her to stay in fancy hotels and live so luxuriously!”
When Michelle was asked for comments, she replied, “I never heard about this. I have been busy with my new project. Thank you for your concern.”

lmao. It’s like getting grounded by your parents. Honestly some celebrities are just big babies and deserved to be taught a lesson or two. Just because you are rich and famous doesn’t give you the right to be a jerk.
This restrained order is the most ridiculous one I have ever heard of. It’s her money. She has every right to use it.
This restraint order is really funny. Ms.Lu has the right to tell Michelle what she can and can’t do with her money and the court approved it? LOL, seriously. This is ridiculous.
Agreed that it’s her money and she has the right of what to do with it but I am also wondering what’s wrong with Michelle? She is always in the news for all the wrong reasons
@nigel Yup, been hearing crazy news from her since she openly expressed her love for this guy.
Although I don’t agree with Michelle’s action on Ms. Lu , but I don’t think it’s fair that Ms. Lu can actually put a restraining order on what Michelle can and can’t do with her own money. I’ve never heard about a restraining order like this before. Too ridiculous in my book.
I think the point of the restraining order is to force the defendant to pay the plaintiff the money they owe them.
@terrycrews19 that’s not a restraining order lol! Also Ms Lu said: it’s illegal for her to stay at fancy hotel and living luxury” reeks jealousy and like totally not right? Who is she to say what Michelle can and can’t do with her money? I personally don’t like Michelle but this saying speaks just as much about ms Lu
Michelle seems to be acting stranger and stranger with her behaviour in the last few years.
Is this restraining order approved or is it just a draft?
@elizabeth indeed I hope she is not going crazy. Her behaviour seems to indicate otherwise.
She’s out of her mind.
@pookybeary looks like it. Wish her all the best.
That’s the most ridiculous “restraining order” i’ve ever heard. How can you restrict someone’s private lifestyle? I mean you could freeze their assets but this is just weird how its specifically prohibiting spending on luxury items …
If you lose a defamation lawsuit, you normally just give a forced apology and pay the other party’s costs. If they don’t pay, you sue them for the costs again with interest!
If this is how the “legal system” works in China, i think Michelle would be better off moving back to NY!
Wait, I feel like people are missing the important point of this lawsuit. Michelle Ye sued for defamation of character because Ms. Lu implied Michelle was the one who made them break up. So, is the court saying that that’s not enough evidence to show Michelle was defamed or that in truth, Michelle IS the 3rd party?
@coralie she has to stop going out with these Chinese fellas.
@nigel
are you expecting a white savior?
@msxie0714 meaning?
what kind of stupid restraint order is this? that just stops the economy if they put it on more than a few.
I’m guessing something is lost in translation. It’s probably not a restraining order. More like she can’t spend until she fully compensates the other party for her losses.
Either way, all parties involved are nuts. Michelle seems to have gone a little crazy since going out with this guy.
Dude seems so shady. Lol, I wouldn’t be overly surprised if say in the future, it’s revealed that the guy was part of some weird cult that brainwashes people.
What’s wrong with that lady she jealous of Michelle’s lifestyle or what who is she, her parents like even her parents would not really restrict her on what she spends. If that restraining order is for real then that’s the most ridiculous restraining one I’ve ever seen.
