Ruco Chan Said He Has a Lot to Learn as a Dad

Last week, Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) announced that his wife, Phoebe Sin (單文柔), is pregnant and that the baby will be arriving in mid 2019. Busily reading and digesting information about the stages of pregnancy, the 41-year-old actor admitted that there’s still a lot for him to learn.

Attending a press conference to promote next month’s TVB Anniversary Awards, Ruco was asked by reporters if researching information about pregnancy is more difficult than reading a typical drama script. “You can say that. It turns out that you need to cut a certain part of the umbilical cord.” When it was pointed out that expectant father Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) mistook the umbilical cord for indicating the baby was a boy during an ultrasound test, Ruco smiled, “If it’s a boy, then that’s okay. If it’s a girl, then you don’t need to look so closely.”

As Phoebe is still early in her pregnancy, they couldn’t determine the gender of the baby from the ultrasound tests yet. Although Ruco prefers to have a girl, the couple is very happy to have a baby and are okay with either gender.

Phoebe had a difficult first trimester in her pregnancy which caused her to lose weight and feel tired. Aside from giving massages, Ruco started singing to the baby in the womb whenever his wife doesn’t feel well. He said, “The baby is quite well-behaved. After I sing or talk to it, Mommy will feel better right after.”
