Tracy Chu to Make a 2020 Comeback
When Tracy Chu (朱千雪) and Roxanne Tong’s (湯洛雯) special for the TVB variety show Fun Abroad <3日2夜> (also known as 3D2N) aired in November, the segment received an average rating of 14.8 points and a peak of over 15.6 points, putting it as one of the more successful episodes of the show. Tracy’s popularity is still sky high despite her semi-hiatus from the entertainment industry.
In the fall of 2015, Tracy announced her temporary hiatus from the entertainment industry in order to pursue a master’s degree in corporate communication at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. After graduating the following year, she was admitted to the City University of Hong Kong to pursue a juris doctor degree.
Tracy’s decision to temporarily bid farewell to the industry came a shock, as she was at her peak in popularity, thanks 2016’s hit show Over Run Over <EU超時任務>, which made her a contender for Best Actress at numerous acting awards. Since Over Run Over, Tracy has made a few guest appearances in different TVB programs, including the drama Legal Mavericks <踩過界>, which she shot while on break.
Attending an event for Porsche today, Tracy was asked about her plans of an acting comeback, to the 30-year-old said, “I want to know too. Right now, school is my number one priority. I will try to do a few other projects when I’m on break, and meet up with [TVB] to discuss [about her future]. Last summer I shot a travel program. I don’t have anything lined up for this summer yet, but I will talk to my company about whether or not they have something for me to do. (What about Lunar New Year?) We all get that day off, so I’ll use that day to rest.”
As for her graduation date, she said, “Right now I’m studying the PCLL (Postgraduate Certificate in Laws), so there’s still some time left. I’ll be spending the rest of 2019 in school. (How much longer until you graduate?) May around a year and a half. (When will we see you again?) If you all still want me, from now to 2020, please don’t forget me!”
Turning serious, Tracy stressed that she has been active on social media and is serious about wanting to return to acting. “I have to try to be as active as I can, because if I want to act in the future, no one will give me a job!”
