Stephen Au to Get Remarried With Ex-Wife
Stephen Au (歐錦棠) will be getting remarried with his former wife, Man Si Man (萬斯敏), on March 25, 2012. The pair experienced marital differences earlier and were separated for three and a half years.
Earlier, Stephen revealed that he received the sponsoship of British royal family photography studio, Venture Studio, in shooting his wedding photographs. The owner of the photography studio shot a “family photo” of Stephen, his wife, and their cat together.
Stephen commented on his reunification with his former wife, “Si Man and I were married for 15 years. We were separated for several years; fortunately we are able to get back together again. I became a Christian; thus our wedding will be held at a church. At our upcoming wedding, we will be holding a party and a dinner celebration with our families.”
In addition, Stephen’s old friend, Annie Man (文頌嫻), will bet getting married with her boyfriend, Jason, on March 2, 2012, throwing a 50-table wedding banquet. Annie will be inviting Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) to act as one of her bridesmaids.

Jayne: Stephen had suffered severe rage and depression over the last few years. He found his path again in life after becoming a Christian. Emerging as a changed man, he was able to win back the love of his wife again. I am happy to hear that Stephen had reunited with his wife and that the couple will be making renewing their vows and committment to spend the rest of their lives together. Not many separated couples are able to have a second chance in love, as one person is bound to have moved on already.
Did Michael Tao also reconcile with his ex-wife?
Congrats to the pair. It’s always nice to see couples reunite again, since like you said, it’s hard for both people to stay on the same path without one moving on.

How come lots of Hong Kong actors became or converted to Christians? Is Buddhism that bad?
Some aspects of Christianity includes evangelism, especially in the popular Charismatic denomination, which is why they are eager to share their new-found faith with others. On the other hand, Buddhism have also been gaining grounds in the Western world, notably due to focus on Tibet and Dalai Lama issues.
My POV – people seek to find themselves. They turn to religion when they can no longer satisfy themselves materially.

I think materialism can only satisfy to a certain degree. After awhile, you get bored and always want to try something new. The satisfaction does last very long.
When people encounter great emotional turmoil (such as death of a loved one, failing marriage, failing career, etc) people look to find a way for inner strength and establish new or reinforce beliefs in life. They “need” religion in order to get to “know” themselves again in order to continue to live happier lives.
Anything that allows you to be “reborn” again, to understand yourself better, to live the best life that you can is truly empowering. It can be religion; it can be Buddha, God, a teacher, a lover, s book, etc.
Was reading a bit about Oprah Winfrey’s earlier life and how she emerged from poverty, from early childhood rape and molestation, from a teenage mother who dabbled in drugs to a well educated and articulate news anchor, talk show host, and current billionaire. I found her story to be very inspiring.
Our past traps us and we use this to make excuses for what we do or don’t do. Many people feel lost and question their beliefs along the path of life. As young children, we are told by family and teachers to think a certain way; there may be very little freedom. As we age a bit and experience life more, those experiences make us question the beliefs that we have held on to all these years and there is an urgency to lead a life that we truly want, to make choices that we did not have when young. In this sense, converting to a new religion is a conscious choice to start anew, to question those beliefs that characterize who we are and perhaps have a chance to live another life reflective of our true choices.
May the Year of the Dragon be one of many new discoveries and beginnings for everyone!
Nothing wrong with Buddhism. Just that Christians will often introduce christianity to another person and they believe by doing so they earn merits. I forgot the word for that already.
Buddhism is like Hinduishm dont introduce the religion to others. By the way I often felt Buddhism is not a religion but more it’s a teaching in life.
I also feel that Buddhism is more of a philosophy of life rather than a religion which is why it is more suitable for me than any other “religion”. I guess it just depends on the person…
I wonder the same thing… But I think it also depends on the person. THere are many good and emotionally strong people that don’t even need religion and they are fine. Also, England used to rule Hk so it makes sense that many have converted to Christianity. I never felt that you really need religion to live life well because you become too dependent on it to the point that you are no longer yourself and become a bit too much of a fanatic. I have seen that with some of my overly religious relatives and they drive me crazy….
Fully agree with you. Irregardless of whether you’ve a religion or not depends more on yourself. Some of my friends dont have a religion but they always think good and do good. Whereas I’ve seen some ppl brag they are christians, they are buddhist but what they’re doing is not something that I feel it’s good.
So, to me I agree with you HeTeiShou, I also found that Buddhism suits me as it’s a way of life.
I’m still learning to be a good person.
There are a lot of Christians that approached me on the street and I would just tell them that I’m already a Christians otherwise they’ll keep pushing and pushing.

I agree with you as well and my mom is really religious which scares me. I was telling her that you don’t necessarily need a religion to be a good person and live life well. I think that is true for some people and not others. My mom was saying how they are only good people because they have ae religion or they extract ideas from religion or various religious teachings to become a good person. I somewhat agree with that but not really because I feel that to do good also just involves human nature common sense. For example, if someone was going to fall off of a bridge, if you are a good person, then you would just come and save them. I don’t think that you would stand there and think, hey Buddha/Jesus or whoever told/taught you do so… That doesn’t make sense to me… I still consider myself Buddhist since my family is and I do believe in the philosophy and teachings since I can apply it to everyday life. However, besides that I don’t really pray and chant all day or really believe in Buddha heaven since who knows if it exists or not?? I don’t think that just because you believe in something that it will come true necessarily…
I have also met several Christians that just push and push me to join and I don’t like it. However, of course not all Christians are like that…

Now I remember the word “preach” the Christians believe in preaching. Therefore, you’ll see that many of them will go all out to try to convert someone into believing into Christianity.
Just feel like sharing this real story about my cousin’s sister-in-law. According to my cousin her sister in law converted from Taoism to Christianity because one of her colleagues took her to a church. Anyway, that’s not the point, this is what happened, she refrained her children from taking the fruits from the altar at her mother-in-law’s house. This made her mother-in-law feeling very sad, my point is it’s okay you’re a Christian but the children are still young. Why can’t she just let the children eat the fruits? Then recently I saw her at the temple, she followed her husband & other family members there. My cousin told me that the sister in law won’t eat the vegetarian food at the temple, she would wait for the rest of the family members including her husband to finish their meal. Then she wants the husband to bring her to a restaurant to eat.
I personally feel she’s a little too fanatic honestly. I feel the Catholic are quite mild and they respect other religions.
Sometimes it’s very sad to see many Chinese families were broken up when one of the spouses decides to change the religion. Often it’s the children that suffer, it’s a matter of time either one of the spouse will have to change his/her religion.
A lot of Asians think the Caucasians are Christians actually not. One of my Christians friends told me that Christianity is a religion for Asian! I don’t know where he got this idea from maybe his pastor!

Because to her it’s forbidden. We might feel that she’s very inflexible. But, to her, following the law of God is important and a must.
Re: why HK actors convert to Christianity.
There are probably numeous factors, both personal and non-personal. Of the latter, I’d highlight three. First, the British influence as someone already mentioned. Second, some actors come from overseas, e.g. North America, where Christianity is sometimes more prevalent (only 10% of Hong Kongers describe themselves as Christian). And finally, HK Christian entertainers are pretty organized–there’s a ministry/fellowship specifically focused on supporting folks in the pressure-packed HK entertainment industry. It’s called Home of Artistes and was started by an actor named Roy Chiao. Not sure if it’s still around, but I’d guess…yes?
There are probably a bunch more factors, but those are just three I wanted to throw out.

The church establishment is called “House of Artistes” and is still very strong, with members such as Ada Choi, Wong Cho Lam, Leanne Li, Athena Chu. Kitty Lai was also a member in the past, but she is technically no longer an artist now.
Sheren Tang and Fala Chen go to the same church, but I am not certain whether it is “House of Artistes.”
Congrats to Stephen Au and wife. They have been through so many years together. It’s good that they are able to reconcile.

Yes, she’s an actress. I don’t know whether she’s still active in acting now. She used to act in ATV series, but, only small roles. I guess Stephen and her met in ATV since Stephen was an ATV actor.
Congratulations to the couple! It takes a lot more than love to make a relationship to work. News about remarriage/reunions are a rare thing.
Totally agree that a relationship/marriage takes much more than just love to work, last and be happy. I think that is why I think that you should get to know the other person well before you marry them even if you fell in love with them at first sight.
Congrats to Stephen and his wife… It is great that they have a second chance at their love since many couples don’t. Most of them would move on and never turn back.
I also wanted to add that I am glad to know that he was/is friends with Annie. I wonder if they will be at each other’s weddings?? Is Stephen still acting?? I have not seen him in a very long time. I wonder where he would be acting if ATV is now bankrupt??
If you follow TVB sitcoms recently, he is in a lot of them. I think from Best selling secrets to off pedder and be back for dinner. they’re all quite long running too and he’s quite likeable in most of them for most. But if sitcoms aren’t your thing, I don’t know what new dramas he would be in

Yay! Even better news! I watched Stephen and his wife’s testimony on youtube last year and it is very sweet! You can see their love for each other despite their troubles. I love it when couple remarry! Yay!
