Donnie Yen, Nicholas Tse to Film “Raging Fire”
It has been 14 years since Donnie Yen (甄子丹) and Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒) last worked together in a film project. The duo will finally be working together again in Emperor Motion Picture’s new action film, Raging Fire <怒火>. Director Benny Chan (陳木勝) said filming will officially start next month and the movie will feature “the fight of the century”.
Although Donnie was absent at today’s FILMART press conference, Nicholas is very excited to be working with the action star again. Their last movie together was Dragon Tiger Gate <龍虎門>. As to why he took on this project, Nicholas said, “I’ve been waiting for the right screenplay and production crew. I’ve always wanted to take part in a really awesome Hong Kong action movie. I’ve been holding back this itch, but I’m ready to fight now.”
Prior to hosting the successful cooking show Chef Nic <12道鋒味>, Nicholas had filmed his fair share of Hong Kong action movies such as Shaolin <新少林寺>, New Police Story <新警察故事>, and Gen-X Cops <特警新人類>, but the 38-year-old actor explained that every film is a new challenge for him.
“There are new challenges every time, and it’s been a while since we’ve had such hard-hitting fight scenes in a Hong Kong action film.” Asked if he was afraid of getting hurt, Nicholas said, “Of course, I anticipate this from an action film.” Will there be many difficult shots? “I’m leaving Donnie to design them.” Nicholas revealed that he has been training hard to get in shape.
Raging Fire also stars Kenny Wong (黃德斌), Kathy Yuen (湯怡), Deep Ng (吳浩康), Benjamin Lam (林國斌), Tony Wu (胡子彤), and Jeana Ho (何佩瑜).
