Janice Vidal Resisted Temptation in Love

While Janice Vidal (衛蘭) is known for singing songs about heartbreak, she is also thoughtful when it comes to relationships. Janice is not a stranger to temptations as she had once liked someone she shouldn’t have liked. Drawing strength from her Christian faith, Janice shares her perspective on forgiveness to find greater happiness.

Fighting Against Temptations

Janice’s honest confession that she fell for someone she shouldn’t have was quite shocking. Explaining her situation, Janice said, “There would be sounds and feelings, but I needed to keep my heart at a distance. It is hard, but I was able to do it. With the help of God and friends to guide me, I was able to walk the right path.”

Although Janice did not reveal the identity of the person she had liked, Janice shared her methods of moving forward, “You can’t let yourself be stubborn and have to keep reminding myself that it is wrong, and to move on. Not everyone can do it. It is almost like a battle; it really needs persistence. When making a choice, it is nice when the right choice was chosen; otherwise, it will hurt a lot of people.”

Admiring Sammi Cheng

Since becoming religious, Janice’s values changed and she released a new song to share her beliefs that love should be selfless. With lyrics consisting of “Love is patient, love never fails,” it is almost identical to Sammi Cheng’s (鄭秀文) statement of “Love never gives up, never loses faith,” in reference to forgiving her husband Andy Hui (許志安) for having an extramarital affair.

Speaking of the similarity, Janice responded, “No matter the path chosen, you can always choose to love. It is actually not easy but it is possible with strength. Seeing Sammi’s actions makes me feel closer to my faith. I asked many people and they all wonder why [Andy Hui] was forgiven. But love needs forgiveness, working out and don’t give up.”

Although Janice was upset when she found out about her friends’ scandal, she also understood that everyone has faults and will make mistakes, but there is time for forgiveness.

Getting Married at the Age of 60

Although she had experienced problems in past relationships and her friends are currently having difficulty in their marriages, Janice still believes in love. “When I was 20 years old, I didn’t want to get married at all. I thought I could be happy by myself. Then I had the thoughts that no one will take care of me in the future. I hope that I don’t have to wait until I’m 60 years old before I get married.” Although Janice hasn’t found a partner yet, she is grateful to have her sister, friends, and colleagues by her side.
