Rosina Lam Returns from Acting Hiatus, Signs with Shaw Brothers
Rosina Lam (林夏薇) continued to receive acting roles after leaving TVB last July and announcing her hiatus from filming. After shifting her attention to her restaurant business and to her health, the 31-year-old was able to spend more time with her husband, businessman Jason Mok (莫贊生). Although they were trying for a baby, she eventually succumbed to the temptations and secretly signed a contract with the Shaw Brothers.
When Rosina took a seat back from acting, she frequently accompanied her husband on trips and repeatedly said she’d help her husband’s family continue their bloodline. To improve her health, she even used Chinese medicine to regulate her body. However, she has been itching to return to the acting scene.
“There have been many scripts that have been beckoning to me, and my husband is very supportive,” Rosina explained. “I took a hiatus to be able to spend more time at home and learn how to do business from him, but I didn’t say I was retiring. I’m still going to recuperate my body. The new company has given me a lot of freedom and is willing to work with me on many levels, so there won’t be a problem.”
In fact, she’s lined up a series of jobs after sealing the deal with Shaw Brothers. Her return to acting will begin next month for the second series of PTU 2019 <機動部隊2019>, in which she will play a cop, so she’s been working out to train her physique. Rosina will be starring alongside Alex Fong (方力申) and Ken Wong (王合喜).
Although Rosina is petite, PTU 2019 producer Jacky Lee (李志倫) is confident of his casting selection. “I hope we can capture how cool she looks in a uniform. People also doubted Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅) when she played a cop in Love Undercover <新紮師妹>, but it turned out OK!” Jacky said.
He added that filming would only take a month, so Rosina can resume her baby plans afterward.
