Sammi Cheng Does Not Want Andy Hui to Return to Work Yet
This year has been both an exciting and heartbreaking year for Cantopop queen, Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文). The excitement stems from holding her concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, which ran 13 shows. The heartbreak is from her husband Andy Hui (許志安), who was found fondling with TVB actress Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎) in April. Although Sammi chose to forgive Andy and work on salvaging their marriage, the process does not come without its difficulties.
When Andy showed up to support Sammi at her concert, he was met with the chagrin of Sammi’s fans, who booed him until he entered the building and was out of sight. Despite earning his wife’s forgiveness, Andy is still far from resuming his career and gaining back the support of fans.
While attending an event to promote breast cancer awareness recently, Sammi was asked about the couple’s recent vacation to Europe with good friend Dicky Cheung (張衛健) and his wife, Jess Zhang (張茜). On whether the trip helped to improve her relationship with Andy, Sammi smiled and said, “No! We get along as we usually do. Nothing out of the ordinary. After I get off work, we spend time together as we normally do. It’s natural and the usual. There is a process for everything!”
When asked whether Andy has plans to return to the spotlight, Sammi said, “I will let him speak on that himself. There is a process for everything. I am not in a rush to see him return to work. Instead, I think he needs to spend time to reflect on what he did and consider his life priorities first.”
Having just completed preparing for and performing 13 shows, Sammi expressed her desire to take a break. She attributed her fatigue to her 47 years of age, sharing that she feels exhausted after all the hard work. During her break, she intends to pursue studies related to spirituality or theology.
