Jacky Heung’s Transformation from 240-Pound Boy to Skilled Martial Artist
While Jacky Heung (向佐) has a sculpted physique, it may come as a surprise that the 35-year-old Hong Kong actor once weighed 240 pounds and lacked motivation in life. Growing up, Jacky was unsatisfied with himself, and through hard work and dedication, he successfully transformed into a skilled martial artist.
Motivated to Lose Weight
Jacky’s mother revealed that he was initially motivated to lose weight because he had a crush on a girl. Although his mother once thought the reason was immature, she realized that this was the spark for Jacky’s growth.
Uneasy Road as an Artiste
Born as the son of China Star Entertainment Limited’s CEO Charles Heung (向華強), Jacky held high expectations of himself. After he graduated from abroad and returned to Hong Kong, Jacky was unhappy with his lackluster career in the entertainment industry, “I essentially didn’t know what I wanted to do. I was lacking in my health and in my prospects. Every day, I repeated the same routines and I hid away at home. I thought about why I existed and if the world would be the same without me.”
Jacky felt hopeless about his future until one day his father came up to him and said, “As long as you work hard, you will be able to fly.” Jacky was extremely touched by his father words, especially since his parents were opposed to his decision to be an artiste.
From that point, Jacky committed himself to work harder. While initially Jacky didn’t even know the basic martial art steps, he eventually performed cartwheels and side-flips with ease. Making his father proud with his success, Jack proved to others that he is serious and dedicated to his career.
