Kenneth Ma, Natalie Tong Win Best Actor and Actress in Singapore

It’s awards season, and many actors and actresses are reaping the fruits of their work. TVB artistes Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Natalie Tong (唐詩詠), Ali Lee (李佳芯) and Korean actor and actress, Kim Jaewook and Park Min Young were the big winners at Singapore’s StarHub Night Of The Stars 2019. Well loved in Singapore, on-screen couple Kenneth and Natalie managed to snag StarHubs’s TVB Best Actor and Best Actress respectively for their performances in Big White Duel <白色強人>.

Thanking the Efforts of the Crew Behind Big White Duel

Achieving the Best Actor Award, Kenneth was extremely happy and made a speech expressing his gratitude towards the crew of Big White Duel. He said, “I need to thank the director, writer, and the whole production crew. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve grown older, but the more I act, the more I see that the group energy of the crew is more important than the energy of just one individual. The audience liked this drama because the team was able to create the right atmosphere, so be it the props, setting, lighting, and dressing; they are all important. As such, I have to thank every staff member before and behind the screen for their hard efforts. Also, the team of doctors and nurses who helped us during filming–because without them, our sense of professionalism would not be as strong. In sum, it is the power of the crew that left the deepest impression on me while filming the drama.”

Big White Duel is Kenneth’s Only Drama for the Year

As the annual TVB Anniversary Awards is coming up soon in January next year, the actor was asked if his confidence increased after achieving the TV King title in Singapore. To this, he responded, “Have to look at these as two separate matters.The judges’ standards are very different for every award. In getting one award, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to get the other. Just let it be; I’ve done my best already!”

As for his good friend and sister Natalie in achieving Best Actress, Kenneth expressed that he is happy for her, as well as Ali and Fred Cheng (鄭俊弘), who sang the title song for the Big White Duel, with their victorious wins.

To celebrate his win, Kenneth would buy the whole crew dinner, and emphasized that even if he won’t win anything at TVB’s upcoming Anniversary Awards, he still make sure everyone goes out to eat, since everyone’s happiness is the most important.

Natalie Wants Big White Duel to get the Best Drama Award

In snagging Best Actress, Natalie shared, “Very happy and extremely emotional. This is the first award for Big White Duel, and it’s all thanks to the entire production team. Everyone held the same uncertainty while filming the drama because it was so different to past dramas, and we didn’t know if the audience would like it.”

On the topic of Kenneth winning an award, Natalie expressed happily, “Of course, Kenneth has to get an award!” When asked if she hopes to repeat the same success at the TVB Anniversary Awards, Natalie said, “Leave the Best Actress Award up to fate. I just really hope to get the Best Drama Award instead. But, this will have to depend on viewers’ votes. Everyone! Go vote for Big White Duel!”
