Henry Golding Stars in “G.I. Joe” Spinoff “Snake Eyes”
The “Crazy Rich Asian” actor is in high demand in Hollywood.
Since starring in the groundbreaking film Crazy Rich Asians, 32-year-old Malaysian-English actor Henry Golding has been cast in several high-profile movie roles one after another. After collaborating with Emilia Clarke in the festive romance Last Christmas and appearing in the Guy Ritchie– directed The Gentlemen, Henry’s will be up next in G.I. Joe spin-off Snake Eyes.
Helmed by director Robert Schwentke from the G.I. Joe franchise, the cast includes Andrew Koji of Warrior fame, Haruka Abe from 47 Ronin, Mile 22’s Iko Uwais, Takehiro Hira from Battle of Seikigahara, Úrsula Corbe from Money Heist and Samara Weaving from Ready Or Not. Kenji Tanigaki who won Best Action Choreography at 2018’s Golden Horse Film awards will be the film’s stunt coordinator.
A reboot of the G.I. Joe cinematic timeline, the story talks about the team being up against a terrorist network named Snake Eyes which gained possession of a new lethal weapon. Henry and other members of the cast attended the launch of filming ceremony in Japan, and received traditional Japanese blessings at a ceremony held at Hie Shrine, a sacred Shinto shrine. The film is slated for release in October 2020.
