“Forensic Heroes IV” Opens with Strong Ratings
TVB’s highly anticipated drama Forensic Heroes 4 <法證先鋒IV> did not disappoint and it premiered with a high rating of 33 points with 2.15 million viewers on Monday. Broadcasting simultaneously in China, the drama sets TVB’s record for the highest-rated premiere since 2012.
Casts’ Reactions
With high ratings and good reviews, Raymond Wong (黃浩然) and Selena Lee (李施嬅) who play the leading roles are overjoyed with the drama’s success.
In an interview, Raymond responded, “Happy! Of course, I’m very happy. Producer Mui Siu Ching (梅小青) sent me a message today and told me the ratings are very good. She didn’t tell me what the ratings were and wanted to wait for the company to announce it. The fans’ reactions are good. My friends said they enjoyed watching it. I hope that the ratings will continue to rise and reach 40 points. This is Mui Siu Ching’s last work before she retires, and the strong rating is a nice keepsake. I also hope that this drama brings a bit of entertainment to the audience during the coronavirus outbreak.”
This drama is also Selena’s last collaboration with TVB before she ended her contract. Regarding her work, Selena shared, “It is emotional to receive such a high rating for my final work. This drama is also Mui Siu Ching’s final drama before her retirement, so I hope it will keep the high ratings. In a few days, I will be flying to Canada, and I will continue to watch it on the Internet. During the outbreak, it’s good that everyone can stay home. I hope there is a drama that will help everyone to relax. Like Barrack O’Karma <金宵大廈>, I am happy. Thank you to everyone who is watching this drama.”
Other High Rating Dramas
It is believed that coronavirus outbreak resulted in a sharp rise in TVB evening programs’ ratings as viewers avoided travelling and stayed indoors.
Several TVB programs are currently enjoying higher ratings and they include: Come Home Love: Lo and Behold <愛·回家之開心速遞> at 30.8 points, Scoop <東張西望> at 26.6 points and The Dripping Sauce <大醬園> at 29.3 points. While it is rare for dramas to exceed 30 points in recent years, it is likely that the three programs will exceed 30 points after calculating the seven-day average across the different platforms.

Selena Lee Said “Forensic Heroes IV” Is Her Most Challenging Project
all thanks to Coronavirus… but my family members is also watching it on TV and their all claiming its good guess guess I’ll be watching this soon
@vodka – It’s actually pretty good som far. I’ve watched the 1st two chapters and definitely very suspenseful. I hope it stays good. You should give it a try.
I’m surprised that The Defected from last year didn’t get over 33 points with its premiere. I will see if FH4 lives up to its hype, but I gotta laugh at Fred Cheng being the sole survivor of this franchise (he wasn’t in FH3). He’ll always be 光仔 to me.
@hazel Yeah, tbh 光仔 is more of an interesting character to me. Fred’s new role seems boring & generic.
@hazel yes definitely prefer him in FH1
Liking it so far. Though the terminology I find is kinda hard to understand. 2 eps I’ve seen are quite fast paced at the moment. Though I’m sure I’ll understand as the drama progresses.
Shaun Tam is really great as the policeman he will probably get a nomination for this role.
Also I find it funny that in the 2 eps ending we see Michelle Yim has that pikachu shocked face meme 😮
the drama start of with a lot of strong cameos which make the drama interesting to watch but I can’t say the same for the second line actors and actresses.
The self-praising lines among themselves also a bit cringey.
@sev2
I’m sure everyone is happy that Fred is back to working as a glorified extra. Better off not acting at all though…
bleh………..I still like the original cast more wonder why Bobby Frankie and yoyo wasnt asked to cast the remake for Forensic if they did I will be on the series 24/7 only if the story line that captivated hahahahhah
happy to see Michelle and Pinky even tho there only a cameo
@sherla1019 pinky’s a horrible actress. I cringe to see her act.
@sherla1019 Because Bobby already fulfilled his quota of filming 1 series a year for TVB, Frankie is chairman of ATV now so no way they are going to ask him, and Yoyo is semi-retired…
I’m actually all they didn’t bring back the original cast because TVB nowadays is incapable of producing “good” series anymore and would’ve just totally wasted the cast.
@llwy12
Wow frankie is the chairman of ATV now mygosh….hope he runs it well with help of good producer directors and writers and start filiming so good dramas ……cause TVB airs alot of BS dramas thats just a waste of time in watching
@sherla1019 I forgot if Frankie’s title is chairman or CEO…but basically he is the head honcho over there now who essentially calls all the shots…though to be honest, not sure if that’s a necessarily good thing for Frankie considering ATV is now a barely existent web platform struggling to become relevant again (and failing miserably)…not sure whether he will run it “well” since I don’t think that’s even possible with ATV anymore, but one thing’s for sure – at least current ATV staff don’t have to worry about being forced to do a stupid horse dance in public and make themselves laughingstocks in HK for decades to come…
Good rating because there are not many good show by TVB of late? Comparing with Forensic Heroes 1, 2, & 3, Forensic Heroes 4 so far not impressive. Hope the subsequent episodes will change my mind.
FH4 is worse than the previous 2 sequels. Too many plot twists till credibility is stretched too thin. Fred is bland and boring as usual. Reminds me of the character he played in FH1. Dunno why tvb continues to promote him. Bad singer too with his wimpy voice.
@pisces2019
Yeh. No need for the death after death in each case. Just unrealistic. Then in typical TVB style, all the main character sit around summarising every detail of the case for about 10 minutes treating viewers like dumbasses. The kills have already confessed already. No need to go through it again!
@jimmyszeto LOL…so true! With the first few episodes so far, I feel like this series shouldn’t be called “forensic” heroes but rather “cop” heroes…of course, let’s not forget this is TVB after all and Mui Siu Ching (as well as her husband Lau Ka Ho) is as formulaic as you’ll get in terms of producers, so there is definitely going to be a lot of summarizing of cases with the killer confessing and then every moment re-enacted while the killer narrates…I don’t expect anything less, lol!
@jimmyszeto totally agree with you. The scriptwriters tried too hard to be clever that it backfired. This drama is just crap.
@jimmyszeto god, that part was so cringy….. I was like, move on to the next case already!
The script and cast seems fine to me. Its a lot better than the other dramas that TVB has released recently. The only thing unappealing is Rebecca Zhu! Can’t stand her acting ever since Silver Spoon Sterling Shackling.
@damiwon Yes and she’s leading in that soy sauce series that I haven’t started yet with w/the bf who is equally unappealing as a male lead. I like the series The Stunt but not her and no clue how she became lead so quickly. That shows TVB is seriously lacking in talent or just zero candidates to pick from or perhaps she has great luck & good connections.
@wm2017
Soy sauce series is bad. Script is craply written. Rebecca and Matthew only ones doing well. Hugo cannot show his usual strengths in this role acting alongside those horribly written sibling/sibling’s wives characters.
You know what’s super cringey about this drama? Each time they have a new case, the entire gang will head down to the crime scene and there will be this super dramatic music accompanying them as they strut out of their cars, all wearing sunglasses and acting chok. Repeat this by the number of times they have new cases throughout the drama and it becomes so embarrassing for the viewer to watch.
