Leehom Wang May Have Been Exposed to the Coronavirus Back in December

The COVID-19 pandemic, which had its initial outbreak in Wuhan, China in December 2019, is terrorizing through the globe. Many countries, specifically in North America and Europe, are scrambling to flatten the curve.

Though many countries in Asia, including Taiwan, are recovering from the outbreak, Leehom Wang (王力宏) is still self-quarantined inside his own home in Taipei since January. He shared on social media that he had developed a fever after holding his “Descendants of the Dragon 2060 Tour” <龍的傳人2060> concert in Wuhan on December 29th and 30th. At the time, the outbreak was not yet known to the public.

Leehom interacted with his fans throughout his concert, and on his return to Taipei the following day, Leehom was seen shaking hands and giving fans high-fives at the airport.

Leehom started to feel unwell soon after returning to Taiwan. He developed a fever on January 10th that reached 38.5 C (101.3 F) on January 11th. At the time, he had already returned to China to continue his tour in Kunming. His high fever lasted two days.

Concerned that he may have been infected with COVID-19, Leehom immediately self-quarantined himself after returning to Taipei. He has been in quarantine for two months.

“Sending love and encouragement to all who are just starting [to self-quarantine],” wrote Leehom on Instagram. “Keep washing those hands, and we will ‘hand in hand’ get through these tough times.”

Leehom was referencing his song “Hand in Hand” <手牽手>, which was written for the SARS epidemic back in 2003.
