Live-Action Mulan to See Sequel?

Disney’s highly anticipated live-action movie Mulan <花木蘭> was originally slated for a March 26 release, but it has been postponed to July 24 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the movie has yet to premiere, rumors have been swirling that Mulan will have a sequel.

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the rumors are true, and the sequel is already in the stages of early development. It is unknown whether director Niki Caro will helm the second movie as well, but Daniel announced that producers Chris Bender, Jason Reed, and Jake Weiner are returning for the sequel.

It is also reported that the sequel to Mulan will not be adapted from the animated film Mulan 2 <花木蘭2>, and a new original story will be created. However, whether or not the sequel will continue to proceed depends on the global box office performance of Mulan, particularly in Mainland China.

  1. BS yet again, for a movie yet to open and no other mainstream publication picking up this story this a load crap, passed on without any journalistic integrity.

    1. @seriously
Good point. Of course they would make the next one if the first one does well. True for any movie given the availability of resources.

  2. I wanted to see this movie soooooooooooo bad. Just by watching the trailer makes me wanted to watch it even more. It would be good if it is highly rated. If the sequel is going to be good too, why not produce it.

  3. God they need to stop messing with great stories like this for the sake of milking more money.
