Kevin Cheng, Bernice Liu, and Liza Wang in New TVB Series

Kevin Cheng Ka Wing, Liza Wang Ming Chuen, Bernice Liu Bik Yee, Angela Tong Ying Ying, and Christine Kuo Wan Wai appeared at a costume fitting for new TVB series, Home Army <居家兵團>. The series revolves around Liza assisting her son, Kevin, in their home services company. Liza demonstrated how to care for a baby, while Kevin pretended to wash a toilet, adding much humor to the scene.

Sporting a short wig, Liza resembled a housewife. Growing up without the assistance of any maids, Liza had to perform household chores herself. Since she currently has a Filipino maid at home, Liza does not have to clean the house herself, but will sometimes have to follow up on any improperly completed jobs.

Regarding babies, Liza said, “I am very afraid of holding small babies.” (Did you hold your godson, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, in the past?) “Yes, I did. Since babies’ neck muscles do not strengthen until they are several months old, so I waited until he was older.” When Liza graduated from acting class in 1966, she had partnered with Ha Yu in her first television series.

Ha Yu Purchased New Home
Ha Yu appeared at Home Army’s costume fitting with his 13-year-old daughter. Due to his intentions to remain in Hong Kong for the long-term, he recently purchased a new village home. Ha Yu’s wife and daughter reside in Canada and came to Hong Kong to help him move to the new house. His daughter recently graduated from elementary school, and will rush back to Canada to continue her studies next week.

Did Ha Yu’s daughter possess an interest in acting? He said, “No.” (Will Ha Yu’s daughter celebrate Father’s Day in advance with him?) “I never thought about it. Everyday, we eat dinner already!”

Bernice Liu Loves Children
In Home Army, Bernice will play the role of a receptionist. Will she need to enlarge her chest for the role? Producer Lam Chi Wah said, “It’s unnecessary to do so [given her figure].” Bernice laughed, “Okay, if the Producer says no, then it’s no!” In the series, Bernice will also be taking care of a 3-year-old boy, although she was not a mother herself. Was Bernice nervous about collaborating with young children? “I love children. I have seven dogs at home!” (But children and dogs are different!) “They are about the same. If they do not behave, then you have to restrict them from entering the kitchen and playing with electrical  switches.”

Kevin Cheng Not Stressed About Working with Liza Wang
Although Kevin Cheng employs a part-time maid, he will sometimes clean up small messes. He has experiences doing chores and cleaning the toilet and is not a “spoiled man.” Did Kevin feel any pressure in working with Liza for the first time? “Punctuality is the most important. I do not have a lateness problem.” After getting to know Liza, Kevin felt that she was not a difficult person to work with and believed that they will have a good collaboration.

Jayne: Liza Wang in another comedy? The premise of this show sounds very thin…hopefully there will be more substance and distinction in the plot to be revealed later.
