Pakho Chau Felt Daughter’s Birth During COVID-19 Pandemic Was a Blessing in Disguise
This Father’s Day will be the first for singer-actor Pakho Chau (周柏豪), who welcomed his daughter, Sonya, in December last year. Although Sonya is still too young to give him any gifts or convey any celebratory messages, Pakho is nonetheless excited for the holiday. “Although I am older now and do not have especially keen feelings on holidays, this is still my first Father’s Day. It is quite meaningful. My daughter is still young though, so we will likely just have a simple dinner at home. Actually, as long as my family is together, then I will feel content and warm. This is the best for me.”
Sonya was born at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. In hindsight, this was a blessing in disguise, as Pakho’s work projects slowed tremendously and he was able to spend more time with his newborn daughter. “When she was born, it was just the right time when her dad had more free time. Regardless of whether it was good or bad, it was fate that allowed me to stay by her side and watch her grow. I got the chance to witness her learning to crawl and walk, talk, eat different types of foods. It is a good opportunity for me to spend time to get to know a whole new person.”
He added, “I take many pictures of her and save them on my phone and would occasionally go through them. It brings a smile to my face. When I spend time with her, I would not want to go to sleep. One night, she woke up in the middle of the night for feeding. She was suddenly really energetic and wanted to play with me. Although I was very tired, I still did not want to sleep and wanted to continue playing with her. It’s like having your first love and staying on the phone with her all through the night. She gives me the feeling of first love. One time, she unexpected uttered a soft ‘da da’ and my heart melted! It’s hard to describe that feeling.”
As first-time parents, do Pakho and his wife, Stephanie, butt heads when it comes to parenting styles? Pakho shared that his wife is appreciative that he genuinely enjoys children. He said, “Sometimes, I would ask my wife whether I was doing enough. Am I a good father? I sincerely asked her whether she was happy with me. She told me that she felt I was doing great. When I asked her to explain, she said I really like children. I am not the type to have a child, play with him or her for a bit, and then sit in a corner and go on my phone. I also would not just leave the baby to be cared for by my wife or my mom to go out and hang out with my friends. I just stay home all day to take care of my family. Although there are some things that I cannot help with, I can still help out with manual labor, washing clothes, dishes, vacuuming, and other household chores. In these past six months, other than work, I have not gone out without my wife and daughter.”
The father-of-one seems to be thoroughly enjoying fatherhood. On whether the couple will consider having a second child, Pakho shared, “The doctor said we should wait until our daughter is one year old before trying for another baby. Besides, I will have to see what my wife thinks. This is the most important, because she is the one who has to give birth. She is the one suffering the most and giving the most. Basically, we have a consensus.”

Can i just say i might not be a fan of his before, but after reading what he wrote, i am a fan now lol? What a great daddy.
Pakho’s wife is really lucky!
He sounds like a very wholesome dad. He oozes happiness of being a dad. He seems super excited and in-the-moment when he talks about fatherhood, and his wife even. Out of all the actors who became a dad recently, he seems the most genuine and no bs “heck yea, I’m a dad” <3<3<3
