Miss Hong Kong Candidates’ Negative Gossip

After two rounds of elimination, the 16 semifinalists have been chosen for this year’s Miss Hong Kong 2020 pageant. Like every year, netizens quickly dug up the backgrounds of these potential rising stars and found some negative gossip regarding the pasts of a few contestants, including Celina Harto (陳楨怡), Amber Chan (陳煦凝), and Sonia Leung (梁懿婷).

Celina

Standing at 5 feet 6 inches tall, 23-year-old Celina is a hot favorite this year for her model figure and 42-inch legs. It is speculated that Celina’s father is a wealthy Chinese man living in Indonesia, as she often shares photos of her travels and designer handbags on social media. It is said that she lives in a 2,000-square-feet unit in Causeway Bay with a chauffeur on call.

Recently, a source claiming to be Celina’s friend from when they studied in England, revealed that the semifinalist loved partying and having a lot of pursuers during their school days. According to sources, Celina came in between her current boyfriend Andy and TVB artiste Joey Thye (戴祖儀), and she began dating him after his relationship of several years with Joey ended.

Celina admitted that Andy is Joey’s ex but denied the other speculations. She replied, “This is Andy’s past. I was already dating him during my time at university. As for being a party girl, that is not true. I only attended normal social gatherings at the university.”

Amber 

Although Amber is only 5 feet 2 inches tall, the 24-year-old has a fit physique and pretty features, landing her in the top three for favorite candidates. The attention on her has caused a source to step out and disclose Amber’s discreet past.

It turns out that Amber is reportedly a famous private model within the cosplay world. A few years back, she published a photo book titled “Private Photo” <私圖>, which featured a cover of Amber wearing white underwear.

A source also claimed that Amber changed her Chinese name to work at a local e-sports company where she allegedly dated the boss, rich third-generation Derek Cheung (鍾培生). Also, the source said Amber must be showered with gifts as it’s impossible for her to own a closet full of designer clothes on her salary. She reportedly received a Rolex watch worth hundreds of thousands of dollars for her birthday.

Amber denied knowing Derek and explained that as a financial planning consultant, she can earn up to $80 thousand Hong Kong dollars monthly. However, she gave up her high-paying job to join the beauty pageant. She added that she did not get any work done on her chin, contrary to the reports.

Sonia 

The 22-year-old, who graduated from Pennsylvania State University, has been labeled as Laurinda Ho‘s (何超蓮) look-a-like throughout this competition. Recently, a source claiming to be her high school classmate posted a photo of Sonia from high school and alleged that Sonia might have gone under the knife because she looks drastically different from her high-school days.

Sources also revealed Sonia is very patriotic. She can supposedly speak fluent Mandarin and write in simplified Chinese.
