Billy Luk on Landing His First Lead Role in “AI Rhapsody”
Usually known for his comedy, Billy Luk (陸永) makes a huge breakthrough in his career and will star in his first lead role in the upcoming futuristic series AI Rhapsody <智能爱>. His two leading ladies are Ali Lee (李佳芯) and Crystal Fung (馮盈盈), who will fight over his love.
Starting his career as a rapper in the duo FAMA, Billy’s lively personality makes him a perfect host in variety programs such as Carol Cheng‘s (鄭裕玲) Do Did Eat < Do姐有問題> and DoDo Goes Shopping <Do姐去Shopping>, Miss Hong Kong pageants, as well as TVB annual awards shows. Making appearances in TVB dramas, Billy impressed viewers in last year’s My Commissioned Lover <婚姻合伙人> and Barrack O’Karma <金宵大廈> by playing underdog characters.
Excited to begin work on AI Rhapsody, Billy joked, “They asked me not because of my looks – it’s obviously because of my eloquence! I’m supposed to be a jerk in the series, which will give a comedic effect.”
Asked for his thoughts on being the leading actor, Billy said he is already happy playing supporting characters. “It doesn’t matter if it’s supporting or lead, I’m paired up with two beautiful ladies!” As to whether there will be any intimate scenes with his co-stars, Billy said, “There aren’t any in the script so that’s why they asked me!”

I like Billy, but I am not sure of him being a lead. Sigh… Looks like they are smart to use Ali to promote him. And Ali vs Crystal? That’s just awful.
At least Ali is filming again, but these are the least inspiring co-leads possible.
@potatochip think TVB dare not put Ali in any big production yet. Got to wait for the news to die down. I just hope she’ll not just disappear from the screen. The Chinese Found another “rioter” in Sharon Chan. I think the Chinese are losing their marbles
@conan2209 Haha love that comment “Losing their Marbles…” Never knew his english name was Billy, hope he does well, love the group Fama. Hoping they would make some new songs…
I don’t mind this. Why not step out of the comfort zone and see what you have. Rather than Vincent or Edwin in yet another bland comedic performance, maybe they wanted to give someone else a chance and see. I recall Wayne Lai only in secondary roles until Rosy Business. Not saying Billy is as good an actor as Wayne, but the situation is similar. Maybe they want to try another person for a comedy. If this works, they would have another artist that can carry a comedy.
I don’t mind. I’ll give him a chance before deciding. You never know his potential until you let him have a go.
