Wilson Tsui and Wife Divorce After 18 Years of Marriage

Married for 18 years, former TVB actor Wilson Tsui (also known as Ai Wai 艾威) and Lisa Chan surprisingly revealed that their marriage is over. Despite supporting each other through the toughest of times, the couple called it quits and filed for divorce in October 2019.

Separating from a spouse who has been a pillar in his life for nearly two decades was not an easy decision, but Wilson reveals they made this difficult decision because their marriage continues to have irreconcilable differences. “I am sure that it will take both of us a very long time to settle our emotions. A marriage is like two people dancing together. If you’re not compatible from the beginning, then you both must learn to compromise and collaborate. If after some time of comprising and accommodating, both your paces are still not in sync and you continue to stumble on each other, then the inevitable will eventually happen. Stopping the dance is the only plausible solution.”

Wilson Poured Life Savings into Lisa’s Medical Treatment

After tying the knot in 2002, Wilson and Lisa supported each other through many of life’s ups and downs. When Wilson left TVB, there was a period of time in which he experienced a lack of jobs and financial instability, but Lisa believed in him and supported his endeavors. Similarly, when Lisa was found to have a grapefruit-sized fibroid and had to undergo a hysterectomy, Wilson took care of her attentively and spent his entire life savings on all the medical expenses.

Still Friends After Divorce

With their long history together, it comes as a shock that Wilson and Lisa have separated. When it was said that Lisa initiated the divorce, netizens blamed her for betraying Wilson. The 62-year-old actor, however, came to his ex-wife’s defense and emphasized that a third party was not involved, Wilson wrote on social media, “The world is already a mess. Everyone is frustrated. Lisa and I do not want to disturb anyone. We only want the situation to pass quickly.”

Though Wilson did not reveal the specific reason why his marriage ended, he and Lisa will remain friends. “In the past, we have supported one another. In the future, we will continue to send each other our blessings and well wishes.”
