Tony Leung and Nicholas Tse to Star in Upcoming Felix Chong Film
According to Hong Kong media, renowned Hong Kong filmmaker Felix Chong (莊文強) will be reuniting with Tony Leung (梁朝偉) for an upcoming anti-corruption film titled Golden Finger <金手指> (tentative title).
Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒) is also in talks to co-star in this EEG-produced film. Should talks go through, Golden Finger would be Tony Leung and Nicholas Tse’s first film together.
Hong Kong media reported that Chong has already received the go-ahead from mainland Chinese investors to start principal photography in October. Its overall budget is estimated to be approximately $230 million Hong Kong dollars.
Golden Finger is said to be set in the 1980’s, and follows the story of a Hong Kong business firm that goes from being public to bankrupt within a few years. The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) gets involved, and spends over 15 years investigating the company and its ties with international corporations. This company is said to be based on the real-life Carrian Group, a Hong Kong conglomerate that rapidly expanded and fell during the 1980’s due to corruption and fraud.
