TVB Rushes to Sign Contracts With Miss Hong Kong Contestants
With a large number of talented artistes leaving TVB in recent years, the station is eager to sign new new talent and is recruiting fresh faces from Miss Hong Kong 2020. While TVB has showered the three winners with many opportunities, the station is very open to working with the other contestants and offered to sign management contracts with them.
After placing in the pageant, winner Lisa Tse (謝嘉怡), first runner-up Celina Harto (陳楨怡), and second runner-up Rosita Kwok (郭柏妍) are heavily promoted and making appearances in many events. The trio appeared in charity programs Gala Spectacular <星光熠熠耀保良> and Yan Oi Tong Charity Show <善心滿載仁愛堂>, as well as variety show Liza’s Online <娛樂大家> to connect with audiences.
Other contestants are also offered work opportunities with the station. Maisie Kwong (鄺美璇), who won Miss Friendship, appeared in beauty program All Things Girls <姊妹淘> with the three winners. Although the four ladies were competitors in the pageant, they developed close friendships afterward.
Despite failing to place as a top 10 finalist, Casa Yeun (源菲然) possesses a sweet image and is already filming her first drama Life and Truth <換命真相> alongside Gloria Tang (鄧佩儀) and Jonathan Cheung (張頴康). While Casa will not have any dialogue in the drama, the aspiring artiste is eager to develop her acting skills while learning from her colleagues. Excited for the opportunity, Casa recently posted a selfie on her social media page to let fans know that she is working hard at 2 a.m. to film her scenes.
Not all the contestants are as lucky, and those with a negative image are left without a contract. Despite having attended a few public events, Ivy Lai (賴琦媛) was not contacted by TVB after being photographed throwing cigarette butts from her car and behaving intimately with a wealthy Mainland Chinese man. When reached for comments, Ivy confirmed that she has not been approached by TVB for a contract, and refused to comment on her future plans.

Too bad they don’t promote Kelly Fu!!! She’s a hottie and a pretty decent actress.
@exodus Yup, that girl is hot but not sure why she was never promoted.
@wm2017 cos she has a bad reputation that’s why.
@exodus seems like they are promoting kelly cheung instead. probably it’s because of her age. kelly fu is 35
@tapiocacat Kelly was promoted heavily at one point. Not sure what happened after though.
@luye probably cause she had lots of negative rumours
I don’t think many that watch TVB dramas on a regular basis know what decent acting is anymore.
@anon Im not fan of Kelly nor do i think her acting is very good but i think acting quality is quite subjective. Tho i agree TVB new gen’s acting aren’t really on par but i think Kelly is consider not bad. There are also plenty good actors left in the station
@anon I’m with you on this! It seems that now, as long as the artiste can drop a tear or be hysterical, they are considered good. Long gone the days when we feel their emotions thru their body language, their eyes and their manner of speaking
@conan2209
Amen.
“Long gone the days when we feel their emotions thru their body language, their eyes and their manner of speaking”
I have long given up on TVB dramas. Fortunately, I can find such quality acting and emotions on display in Chinese and Korean dramas.
@anon I gave up too till I watched Ali!
She gave me that feel, be it just me being bias or not.
I just hope now she will not disappear from TV, else I see myself stopping on TVB again
Lisa Tse is so pretty. And I like how she’s she’s not stick thin. Hopefully she doesn’t become like other Hong Kong actresses getting stick thin after getting famous. She’s perfect right now, and we need people to set a good example of what healthy weight is for younger girls.
@abcd Totally agree. She’s got meat and in a healthy way unlike the ones in China n HK skinny bones and some still say they look good.
