Yeo Jin Goo Makes Voice Cameo in “Start-Up”
Starring Bae Suzy, Nam Joo Hyuk, Kim Seon Ho and Kang Ha Na, Korean drama Start-Up follows the lives of young hopeful entrepreneurs forging their start-up companies and what motivates these characters to succeed. Aside from the main cast who are anchoring the drama, it comes as a surprise that popular actor Yeo Jin Goo also has a voice cameo in the drama.
Yeo Jin Good lends his voice as Jang Young Shil, an AI personal assistant, who is designed to answer basic questions like the weather and tracks the user’s itinerary. The AI system often gives unreliable and incorrect answers and its conversations with venture capitalist Han Ji Pyung (Kim Seon Ho) often add little touches of humor in the drama. Since Jang Young Shil is a developing technology, it could one day surprise viewers with clever answers. .
Though this may seem like an unusual way to make a cameo appearance, Yeo Jin Goo agreed to lend his voice due to his close relationship with Start-Up director, Oh Chong Hwan, after collaborating on the international hit drama Hotel Del Luna. Viewers immediately recognized Yeo Jin Goo’s voice from the premiere episode and look forward to what surprising replies he will say next.
Releasing four episodes to-date, the tvN drama received ratings of 5 percent in South Korea in its latest episode and viewership is expected to increase as the story progresses. Start-Up is also available on Netflix for international audiences.
