“Big White Duel 2” Brings Together Nancy Wu and Kenneth Ma
After blockbuster drama Big White Duel <白色強人> ended on a cliffhanger note last year, TVB announced a sequel would be in the works in January. The ongoing pandemic resulted in delaying filming for Big White Duel 2 until early November, with the costume fitting finally held today. Featuring an impressive cast consisting of Roger Kwok (郭晉安), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Moses Chan (陳豪), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Natalie Tong (唐詩詠), and Kelly Cheung (張曦雯), Big White Duel 2 gathers together three TVB Best Actors and two Best Actresses in the anticipated sequel.
New Rivals Enter
With such a talented cast, is Roger afraid of being overshadowed? He responded that each of the characters will have equal weight in the drama, “We all have our own scenes. The split between screen times is done very well and balanced. My scenes primarily focus on medical advancements, while Moses’ scenes will primarily be in the emergency room.”
Resuming his role as a neurosurgeon who pushes for change in the medical field, Roger Kwok (郭晉安) will be met by ambitious new rival Nancy Wu. His relationship with Kelly Cheung’s character will be threatened by the entry of flirtatious doctor Moses Chan. Roger expressed, “In the drama, Moses joins our hospital to win back his ex-girlfriend Kelly. However, Kelly has already fallen for me. Everyone will have to tune in to see how it plays out.”
Nancy Makes Comeback After Two-Year Hiatus
Though Kenneth Ma (馬國明) and Natalie Tong‘s (唐詩詠) characters are reunited, they face yet another roadblock in their relationship. Nancy and Kenneth will share many scenes together, but she stressed that they do not have a romantic relationship and there are no intimate scenes, “He and Natalie are the strongest couple–they can’t be broken up! People can have many levels of relationships–it doesn’t have to be romantic in nature. This is also a unique aspect of the script.”
As it has been two years since Nancy last filmed a TVB drama, she is excited for her new role and has been paying careful attention to the briefings given by medical staff to lend authenticity to the cast’s performances. Given a close-up view of the internal workings of hospitals and the work they do made Nancy have even more respect for medical professionals.
Filming will start in Hong Kong in early November, while the last segment of filming will occur in Shenzhen in March. Though Switzerland is also preferred by the crew, this will depend on the local COVID-19 conditions.

I’ve never watched Nancy in interviews but is it just me or is she super uncomfortable in the interviews with Kenneth? Rightfully so even their past relationship.
She also looks very old in these photos. Honestly, this sequel looks boring. I hope Moses brings some new life
The cast photo is horrible, the stars look tired and old. Nothing in this brief description makes this series at all interesting.
its an irony to mention the last season ended with a cliffhanger. It ended with all of us wondering if Kennis will survive the gunshot and in this season, TVB wrote this character off completely.
i thought season 1 was meh, wonder why it had raving reviews.
As always, i watched it only cos it had Ali in it…
Oh god. Nancy and Kenneth look so baddd. Nancy looks awfully exhausted and aged here. Looks like Roger will be carrying the show, but I wonder he if will even have much screen time… I liked Kelly in the original too. Our favourite doctor Kennis is gone 🙁 🙁 I just remembered that Willie Wai was also in this. So different than his character in Witness. Also there’s no Matthew in this? Not a fan of them stacking the cast for a medical drama. The only ensemble cast I liked was My Ages Apart, which was long enough and creative for it to be enjoyable
@bubbles23 good pickup , no matthew Ho, that is strange
@bubbles23 At least without Matthew or looks like Crystal is also cut.
My Ages Apart was really fun. Wish TVB and Louis Cheng weren’t on bad terms because he’s awesome.
@potatochip gosh Louis is such a gem. I really wish he will return one day. I miss his punch lines.
@bubbles23 If I am not mistaken David Chiang is also not in this drama
very strong cast… however I still haven’t watch part 1 huge TVB backlog to catch up!
Is it just me or is something is awkwardly weird about Roger face and yes the entire cast looks so tired and worn out whats up with Kenneth hair that egg tart style is still in =P but overall i hope this series is good I’ll give it a try for Roger and Kenneth even tho i havent really watch BWD1
@sherla1019 No, not just you. I goggled his age a while back when I noticed he seems to be aging rapidly after the big 50. He’s 56 now so I guess he is getting there but he’s just not aging that naturally. I can’t seem to even see his eyes? haha lol… I won’t be watching since I didn’t like any of the casts or part 1.
Its not the aging part its his cheeks and forehead looks like he injected dermal filler to make it more plump or something idk….or maybe its just me anywhooo im still a fan of his
@sherla1019 go look at his interview I actually think it’s not fillers but aging. And he might have gained a bit of weight as well. A ot of people will all of a sudden start aging and slowing down metabolism all at once at this particular age… Even Donnie yen. And it’s usually all in the face
@abcd again it’s normal though =)
Of all the actors on the first row, Roger Kwok is the only one that can act. Sad.
I don’t like Nancy’s short hair. It does look more professional, but it ages her. She kinda looks like Jacqueline Chong. I suppose it fits the role.
The first BWD was boring for me except for Ali’s and Willie’s characters. It is disappointing that she isn’t in this series. Although she and Moses have been together 3 times already, it would have been interesting to see them in these professional roles. I have trouble imagining Kelly between Roger and him.
@potatochip I agree, I was hoping Ali in this drama, but we all know that her comments about politics got her in trouble, especially with this drama being a co production with mainland china. I am not a big fan of older actor being in a relationship with the younger actress, Roger is old enough to be Kelly’s dad in real life, Moses and Kelly is more realistic
@scre Moses and Kelly are closer in age but it is still a 19 year difference. It’s the maturity of her character. Since she was a new intern in the last series, she was such a doe-like ingenue that it emphasized the age difference. If Moses is her ex boyfriend, that means she was even younger and more naive, hopefully they won’t have too many flashbacks. They need to write her character as more mature, remove the daddy’s little girl element, give her some life experiences to make her interesting to these older men.
@potatochip I am just saying Moses and Kelly is a more realistic couple than Roger and Kelly, I wished Ali was in this drama so that her and Moses could play as a couple because I feel like they have best chemistry.
@scre all she did was to remind folks to register as voters, all just take that act as a pro democracy views. If the government does not believe in voting, don’t even pretend to want to hold one
@potatochip my observation is that Jacqueline Chng looks prettier after she got married. She looks slimmer than before imo. But you’re right Nancy looks like her from 2016~
Tried watching the first series, couldn’t get through as I found it too boring. And way over dramatized with sappy music. Natalie Tong was boring as usual, Kelly felt like she was just there to look pretty. Really didn’t understand the hype and how it even found best drama.
And now they’ve loaded so many big names in the sequel, I don’t think it’s gonna fare well, having to split screen time between so many leads and end up no one gets enough development.
@boomer you hit it spot on!!!!
@boomer very true, Season 1 was meh… I’m guessing the wanted Ali with Moses and Roger but cos she cannot be in this show, TVB looked for the next option. There’s never ever any co production that’s good in story lines
