Hoffman Cheng Buys His First Home

Entering TVB in 2001 and joining the station’s artiste training class, Hoffman Cheng (鄭世豪) played minor characters until his breakout performance in 2013’s singing competition, The Voice of the Stars <星夢傳奇>. Becoming a favorite during the competition, Hoffman was finally recognized by viewers. Receiving his second breakthrough in popular sitcom Come Home Love: Lo and Behold <愛·回家之開心速遞>, Hoffman quickly became a household name and his finances turned around.

Appearing in TVB reality talk show, How to Buy a House <我要做業主>, Hoffman revealed that he grew up living in public housing and had entered the workforce early in his life. He never considered buying a home until marrying his wife in 2013. Grateful for his wife’s unending support during his toughest times, Hoffman made plans to buy a home so they can live more comfortably.

Hoffman’s home ownership dreams were also motivated by what Nick Cheung (張家輝) said in one of his movies. “There was a movie called Temporary Family <失戀急讓> where Nick played a real estate agent. He wore a suit and turned to the camera to say, ‘When is the right time to buy a home. The right time to buy a home is when you can afford one,’ and that quote was quickly ingrained in my mind,” the actor recalled.
