Him Law to Join “Triumph in the Skies 2” Cast
Him Law (羅仲謙) has become TVB’s new darling! Although the 27-year-old actor was not a TVB managed artist, Him has been featured in increasingly prominent roles in the company’s dramas. It was announced yesterday that Him Law has been added to TVB’s heavyweight drama, Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄2>!
Marred by earlier production delays and frequent script changes, Triumph in the Skies 2 was scheduled to begin filming in July 2012. Featuring Francis Ng (吳鎮宇) , Chilam Cheung (張智霖), Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), Fala Chen (陳法拉), Kenneth Ma ( 馬國明), and Ron Ng (吳卓羲), Triumph in the Skies 2 was one of TVB’s most prominent filming projects this year. With Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Raymond Lam (林峰), and Kate Tsui (徐子珊) dropping out of the project due to other work committments, TVB felt the need to add in new star power to the cast.
Producer Joe Chan (陳維冠) has confirmed that Him Law is now officially part of the cast! The details of Him’s character will be announced at a later time.
Despite being embroiled in Theresa Fu’s (傅穎) beating scandal and wealthy businessman, Lau Ding Sing’s (劉定成) topless photo scandal last month, Him Law’s career remained resilient. Due to Him Law’s muscular physique and good relations with TVB management, he has been highly promoted in one drama after another. After the successful ratings bonanza, The Hippocratic Crush <On Call 36小時>, Him will be seen in the upcoming action drama, Tiger Cubs <飛虎>.
Rumored to be dating Tavia Yeung (楊怡), Him Law headlined local tabloids for the last few months. His career appeared to be unstoppable with the full backing of TVB. Among the crowd of young actors in their twenties, Him was given the most promotional opportunities. He was also highly popular among advertisers as well.

The more people they add to tits2 the crappier the series is going to be. There’s way too many characters and each of these characters will not be properly developed. I was actually looking forward to this series until tvb felt they needed to add every single artist they have.
What! Kate’s out too? If only the new cast could be as close as the old cast. Ron, Kenneth, Francis, Sammuel, myolie (even though I never liked her), Francis Ng, etc. I don’t like how they added Fala. I guess MC Jin is ok cause since it’s a new story, you do need some new characters. I did like the suggestion of adding King Kong to the drama as some kinda worker in the airport.

Well it only makes sense that Kate would want to take advantage of this opportunity to film a mainland series and start to make her name known up north as well as get the exposure instead of filming triumph in which she would only be a supporting role.
I personally think she is pretty as I have seen her live at LF’s concert performing as a guest. She can dance and has a great body but I do agree that her acting still has room for improvement.

don’t expect her to have a major role in Mainland series. If Fala only had a supporting role, then Kate will only be in a supporting role. she just doesn’t have the look, the qualities to be lead

It is actually better to have Fala in it. Since both Fala and Myolie are top actresses at TVB, it will be interesting to see them together. Linda and Myolie are friends now. Wonder if Fala and Myolie will be?

it was a weird pairing in Triumph 1. Now that Myolie’s a bit older – probably the same age as what Flora USED to be during Triumph 1, is probably a bit more acceptable now.
although Myolie got older, she’s a lot prettier now than before since she apply makeup better now and her acting has become top notch since then 🙂

I think Myolie got PS too but it may not have been really major, but she definitely got something done since I don’t think make up can do that much wonders. Her acting still is not that great to me. She seems more suitable to play those pitiful and more nicer roles. She just does not have the skills to play those strong and evil roles.
I thought TY just got those shots instead of actual PS? Yea but if she did get PS, she probably just used some cheap ones to save money since she always seems short of money.
actually you could right @HTS. She couldn’t afford going under the knife and cutting up her nose, so she went for the cheaper alternative which is subcutaneous injections. That’s why the results are sub-par compared to the other actresses. she should actually follow suit and go under the knife, coz then that way she’ll look a lot better. coz good PS is very important right? should we applaud or be disappointed that she didn’t go full out? that’s the question.

Good points and we do all wonder if we should applaud her for not getting full PS or just getting alternatives. Maybe Tavia knows the long term effects of getting PS and does not want take her chances? Or she does not want it too permanent just in case she changes her mind about her looks? Or just what we thought, she just wants to save money since she always seems to be short of it?

Good point Exiodus! I guess TY truly knows the long term effects of PS so she does not want to get any full blast PS. But then again, only she would know why she does not and we can only guess and speculate.
I don’t think Angelababy looks that great and I have a feeling that as she ages, she will look really bad if she suddenly runs short of money and can’t maintain it.

I am not sure about the forever part since people who get PS have to constantly maintain it or else their face starts change for the bad because it is not natural. PS itself is already expensive but maintaining it is also really expensive. Which is why I think it is so bad for people to lie because everyone either already knows or will know the truth so what is the point of lying? Once the truth is out, they just hid themselves to avoid embarrassment or continue to lie through their teeth.

I think chances of seeing TY’s face getting back to normal will not be this soon since she still got $$$ to maintain her nose and other parts.. maybe until she has no market’s value and she couldn’t afford to maintain anymore then u will be able to see her true face.

There is an article here in Msia’s newspaper where there were list of actor & actresses that top the list with PS and botox injection.. 2nd is Hawick Lau for having too much of Botox, TY is at 8th or 7th hehe.

Myolie’s face is still looking natural unlike Tavia’s nose. Some people may not believe this but Myolie used to be less stylish and meatier before that’s why she look different now when she matured and know how to style herself.

Which list are you referring to?? I know that most artists do get either PS,injections or botox of some sort just to look younger or better. Honestly, I don’t think Myolie looks that natural and I think many of us can tell that she has had something done, regardless of how minor it is.
I know that Hawick has had a lot of PS since I saw an old photo of him and he looks really different now. I did not know that Danson tang had that much botox.. I think it is easy to tell when someone uses too much botox since their face would turn stiff.
I agree that when Angelababy turns ugly and runs out of money, I highly doubt that Huang Xiao Ming would stay with her but give her money to reshape her plastic self?? No way…

This is what TVB comes up with after Raymond, Kate, and Bosco all drop out? I used to really like Him when he first started out, but that’s since faded. I admit he’s one of the better young actors, but the scandals and situations he’s gotten himself into have permanently ruined my impression of him.
TITS2 doesn’t need to replace the ones who dropped out, the cast is already very big. Looking only at acting and age, Him is still a good choice to play a pilot trainee.

From his comedic role in DGD to semi-villain roles in GCO this year, he deserves to win.
i also love Edwin but Him is the most famous and most opportunity and his acting in Hippocratic crush was quite natural. Him might win. Of course the happiest person who will be happy when Him got more popular and richer is tavia. I hope Mandy win for the female.
Is Edwin technically rising siu sang? He has been in the business for like so many years. Yes Him Law will win probably and he deserves it. His acting did improved. Edwin should now move towards the most favourite (or as TVB calls it, best actor).
Edwin entered the industry as a singer back in 2002 and starred in “Aqua Heroes” in 2004, but was “banished” to China after making a controversial comment about singer Juno Mak. He didn’t come back to TVB until 2008, and at the point he started completely over with small supporting roles, so it felt like his career was being reborn. Otherwise, he would’ve been lead a long time ago. However, starting over let him develop and improve his acting. If he weren’t to win Most Improved Actor, he should move onto Best Supporting Actor. Him might be the most popular now, but I think with Edwin’s experience, he’ll have a better long time career.
What saddens me though, is I’ve liked Him’s acting since he debuted in “Your Class or Mine” and thought he was a promising actor, but it wasn’t until “Suspects in Love” when he started having a “hot body” before he become more popular and recognized. When Him wins, it’ll be more because of this popularity, but at least his acting did truly improve.
I think everyone has their own opinions towards who would win the best supporting actor. I’m supporting Edwin Siu!!! 🙂 🙂 He has proven himself by having wide exposure to many many many different roles, from ever so adorable Ah Yap in DGD to a person with split personality in 古靈精探B to a 失心瘋大駙馬 in 公主嫁到. He sure has what it takes to be a good actor & his skills have been recognized- he is taking lead roles in the next few dramas 天梯，大太監，神探高論部 and 仁身解碼2! He can sing well, act well & has a handsome exterior. He deserves the award!!!!

I sincerely hope they can prove us naysayers wrong, but I do predict a huge failure ahead. It’s become the standard of TVB these days, especially when you consider such mindless drivel as Gem of Life, CBML and BTROC. I’ll feel bad for the cast – mostly Francis and Chilam – if this indeed flops. Fingers crossed it works out.
TVB really need to get it together and pull out some good scripts. Good writing/characters will sure get actors clamouring for the roles. Increased competition can raise the quality of acting, instead of how we see it today: the roles practically being *handed out* to any available actor… Seriously, the “leads” today wouldn’t even make it to supporting actor status back in the 80s and early 90s. I wonder what the industry will be like in a few decades. I certainly worry, because at least right now we’ve got some veterans (who we usually take for granted) with serious acting chops to help ground the series. But they’re well into their 50s and over by now, so who would be replacing them later on when they decide to step away from the cameras? Sorry, this is a bit off-topic, but I’m just really frustrated at the pool of mediocrity TVB is content with wallowing in right now. Why should they try harder when complete utter trite like BTROC can score such high ratings, right?

Although the cast is grand, it seems TVB will focus on the bigger stars.
I doubt Ron is the ‘lead’. Comeon you got Francis and Chilam… who are sharing first male leads. TVB spent a lot to hire them so they will get their screentime. So next up, you think Ron is the lead? I just watched the trailer promo of “Back to 3 Kingdoms” and Kenneth is very funny in the drama. I think he will still the show! Kenneth is acting quite silly and even does a “chok, chok, chok” parody of Raymond Lam.

the producer was just being nice to calm those Ron fans down (for now). As if he is lead. At best, he is probably supporting lol .. let’s watch when the series come out, Ron fans will start complaining and focus all their energy blasting Kenneth. Just like what they did with Ruco.
I literally laughed at the “chok, chok, chok” part of the trailer. I agree that Ma Ming will outshine LF in this series and hopefully will win some awards this year. I really enjoy watching Ma Ming portray funny characters, there’s just something about him that makes him come across as cute when he does these roles. Hope to see him in more comedies.
I also think Kenneth shines more in the trailer but to be fair to Raymond I’ll have to watch the series first.
Maybe Im the only one but I cant buy MM’s funny acting in the trailer. I think he tried too hard so his eyes and expressions are forced. And still think at least Ron looks suitable as a gamer in the sale clip. MM is too old to the role. But the trailer disappointed me the most with the war game. Lol there are only few ppl in a “war”. Kind of lame. Overall I dun put high expectations on 3K.
everyone already know this isn’t a grand production resembling war and beauty. What we all should do is just enjoy the cast and since this is a comedy I’m sure it will be an enjoyable series to look at. The great poster made me anticipating this series more and more because it shows that the production team did put their heart in producing the series.
I love ma ming’s funny acting. I don’t think he’s trying too hard. He’s naturally cute and adorable 🙂
I hope both Ron and Ma ming are the leads since Ron had a big role in the first one and ma Ming has become a great actor now. They deserve it.

Nothing against Him Law, but yes, it would have been so much better if Ruco could have been cast. But then if he were, since there are too many stars in this drama, he would not get much screen time to shine anyways.

Him Law did a great job in On Call 36. He’s a great replacement for Bosco.

him law would be a great replacement for ma ming, ma ming isnt even a lead but a supporting role in triumph nobody would actually notice him that he disappeared because i barely saw him in epsiodes having lines
even bosco had more lines then mm in triumph, but its good mm is in triumph then bosco because he’s going to get overshadowed and the producer didnt even list mm as a lead but francis chilam and ron, probaly Him has a more important role then mm haha

omg i’m so excited, Him Him gonna look in the pilot uniform. I agree Jayne Him Him will most likely win the most improve actor this year.

I personally think readers visiting this website used to be those looking for English translated news and all are TVB fan but nowadays because certain “idols” generate so much talk in other “idols” only forums they come here to spam us all. I miss the good old days but yet I welcome the new readers who maybe will discover there are more to TVB than just those few “idols”.
All TxB managed artistes or any HK artistes are hardly “idols”. TxB/HK companies didn’t do a great job at packaging.
Wanna see true “idols”? 😛 Tune in to Korean entertainment world where there are all the “K-idols” are packaged to a certain K-industry “idol” requirement fit, and where there are ample of Variety-shows-that-don’t-exist-in-HK to provide tonnes of adorable-moments and cute-personalities of the “K-idols”…
Someone should make a documentary about “K-idols” production. Believe it or not, the K-management companies are doing a good job at producing and promoting the “K-idols”..hahaha 😀
PS: I’m not too much into K-pop or K-dramas, but I admit I have guilty pleasures of watching Jang Guen Suk and Ha Ji Won…hehe
I am a fairly new reader here, but I found that more and more articles were focused on TVB idols and usually more comments were submitted on idol-related articles.
In that case, I should miss your “good old days”.
@Funn Lim: well if a celebrity has a big fan base, whether you personally like them or not, then yes they are considered an idol.
so before you single-list a certain ‘idol’ as your example, then you might as well include the whole group, coz as far as i know, there are a few ppl in the ‘list’ that have way less fans. but i won’t be like you and single list them coz there’s no point.
1. They are all too old to be idols, lolz. And they dun fulfill the definition of an “idol” at all.
2. In fact, where have scandals or arguments, this place will have a lot of comments :P.
3. How to define a reader is young? Under 20? If that, I think many ppl are older than 20 here :P. But if you are talking about the mind then maybe it’s more correct :P.

We plan to increase our coverage on Chinese films and mainland China dramas. There is more to Chinese entertainment than HK TVB artists. So there will be more diversity in the future.
Our readers span different age groups. There are also many working professionals on our site, although the younger fans may be more vocal, thus giving you the impression that our audience is young.
One thing is for certain: there are more women than men on our site, tipping the scales in fact. So the few male readers on our site are very special.
