Constance Wu Gives Birth to a Baby Girl

Crazy Rich Asians actress Constance Wu quietly gave birth to her daughter this summer, as confirmed by her manager earlier this week. The baby’s father is her boyfriend Ryan Kattner, aka Honus Honus, a musician and screenwriter. The 38-year-old actress had never previously announced her pregnancy, and chose to enjoy the first few months of motherhood away from the public eye.

Constance was rarely seen in public since the start of pandemic closures in the United States in March. Her last public appearance was in February when she attended the Costume Designers Guild Awards and Queerties, a LGBTQ awards ceremony.

Maintaining a private life outside of work, Constance rarely updates her social media accounts–the last time she updated her Instagram account was this May. She had previously stated that she had intentionally scaled back her online presence, and is very wary of its influence on others. She mentioned that people often see these perfect lives presented on Instagram, which is not a representation of true reality and leads to unrealistic expectations especially towards celebrities.

Her Crazy Rich Asians co-star Henry Golding had also announced his wife Liv Lo’s pregnancy on social media last month. He also disclosed that filming for the Crazy Rich Asians’ sequel has been delayed due to the difficulties of bringing a book to screen adaptation, and that some changes will have to be made to make it more engaging.
