Yoyo Mung Starts Business in Japan
With a love for Japan and its culture, Yoyo Mung (蒙嘉慧) and husband Ekin Cheng (鄭伊健) have been spending an increasing amount of time there. The couple held their wedding in Tokyo in 2013, and were house hunting before the pandemic started with the intention of eventually retiring in Japan. Slowly transitioning away from acting, Yoyo started her own company in Fukuoka, Japan last year.
Backed by Ekin’s million-dollar investment, Yoyo’s real estate company provides a full range of services, including property management, immigration, and education consulting. To cater towards Hong Kongers who are interested in settling down in Fukuoka, consultations are also offered in Cantonese.
Choosing Fukuoka as the prime location for her company, Yoyo explained that the reason behind it was simple – Fukuoka is her favorite vacation spot. She exclaimed, “I believe there’s great potential for future development here. I’m really happy to share and exchange information through online platforms. Thank you for everyone’s interest and support!”
After one year of operation, the business is faring quite well despite the challenges of the pandemic. However, Yoyo believes in continuously expanding her customer base by marketing the company’s services. During Lunar New Year, Yoyo distributed business cards to family and friends along with holiday gifts. Promoting her business on social media, Yoyo has been actively sharing her favorite foods and snacks from Fukuoka, as well as interviewing local residents.
Despite Yoyo’s new company, she and Ekin are expected to split their time in Japan and Hong Kong as the couple had just built their HK$10 million-dollar home in Yuen Long last summer.

Interesting business venture. Doesn’t sound like it’s for money though. More out of genuine interest in helping other HK folks wanting to move there. Her market seems limited though if it is mainly catered toward HK Cantonese speakers. Also, Fukuoka is an interesting city of choice. I mean if her business does well, it would make more sense to have branches in other major Japanese cities as well. Still, perhaps this is a good idea as China is now taking over more control of HKers and more locals are planning to leave HK to go elsewhere. So this makes sense actually, and it’s also a good time for her to start this business to help others that want to move and transition to JP as well.

Not really as it is pretty depressing there and the society is a bit empty. Due to the low birth rate,they are “missing” people so are easier with the immigration stuff unlike before.

If you are poor then living in HK is depressing. However, they are rich so living in HK should not be too bad for them.

high suicide rate and low birth rate necessitates immigration which nationalistic Japanese will have to accept if they want their country to survive.

True and South Korea is going through the same thing. Japan used to be so strict on immigration but has loosened up a lot as they are losing so many people due to the low birth rate. Some even predicted that they and Koreans would go extinct if this continues.
