Jessica Hsuan Chooses Having Pets Over Kids
Given her work and lifestyle, Jessica Hsuan (宣萱) is currently single and confessed that having a spouse is not important. Although many women may feel pressured by their biological clocks ticking, the 50-year-old actress said she is happy being single now and her pets already give her a lot of happiness.
In her new drama Armed Reaction 2021 <陀槍師姐2021>, Jessica has many scenes with an adorable cat named Tong Yuan, who has become very popular due to her beautiful looks. Filming with a cat for the first time, Jessica was initially worried. “Dogs can be controlled. I think cats are harder to control, but thankfully Tong Yuan was obedient.” When asked to comment on Tong Yuan’s breed, she said, “I think Norwegian Forest cats are cute, but you have to think carefully if you want to adopt one. Even if I really like them, this cat breed has long hair. It would irritate my nose, and it would make my daily life difficult.”
Working with Moses Chan (陳豪) in Armed Reaction 2021 again after Line Walker: The Prelude <使徒行者2> was a pleasure. “He is [usually] very serious, but he was very funny when we were filming Armed Reaction 2021. Although we had a romantic storyline, we agreed to use camera angles for kissing scenes since filming occurred during the pandemic,” Jessica said.

Dating several men from different backgrounds before, Jessica’s last publicized split was with Italian boyfriend Fran in 2014. While admitting to dating someone else afterward, Jessica does not want to reveal his identity due to a mutual promise. Living the single life for a while, she believes there is more to life than finding romance.
“When I was younger, I was focused on dating. As I got older, I saw that many of my married friends were not happy and some even got divorced. It’s fine being single, because I don’t spend a long time without anything to do, and I’m never bored,” she revealed.
When asked if she has time to meet people, Jessica replied, “Yes, but at this stage, I don’t think it is necessary to go on a date. I’ll let fate decide. If I meet someone compatible, we can date. If not, it’s okay too.” While being an animal lover is not part of the dating criteria, he must not hate animals either.
Rather than dating with marriage in mind, Jessica prefers to enjoy his companionship. “Since I don’t necessarily have to get married, I just want to find a good friend to be my partner. You don’t have to say ‘I love you’ with a marriage certificate. I never thought of having children, and I prefer having pets a bit more.”
With her bachelorette status, fans continue urging Jessica to date her friend and current boss, Louis Koo (古天樂). With a sigh, Jessica said, “Fans have been fantasizing this for many years. I understand their mentality. Just as I have been growing up watching TV dramas, I also wanted Carol Cheng (鄭裕玲) and Chow Yun Fat (周潤發) to be a couple. If fans are happy, then they can continue to fantasize.”

It is utterly stupid to compare having kids as to being a pet-owner……..For one thing, Jessica is already too old biologically to have kids, not to mention that she does not have a man who wants to have a family with her………In other words, she is a leftover woman……….Her only option is to buy a pet…………or adopt a child, which she still can’t do as a single person……….So, she really has no options, other than to cuddle her pet to sleep every night.
