Winki Lai’s Income Remains Modest Despite Award Win
Despite Al Cappuccino <反黑路人甲 > bringing her career recognition and a TVB Best Supporting Actress award, Winki Lai‘s (賴慰玲) income has actually not grown in tandem due to the pandemic and continues to live frugally.
Marrying her stage actor boyfriend Benny Leung (梁子峰) in 2017, Winki welcomed her son Marat Leung (梁進也) in December that same year. Despite having to take time out to care for her family, the 34-year-old actress continues to put out strong performances on screen and is securing increasing acting and hosting opportunities at TVB.

Winki is also known by friends for being frugal, as Sisley Choi (蔡思貝) had previously spilled on social media that Winki was even unwilling to spend on maternity wear when pregnant with her son in 2017.
Without the means to purchase their own condo yet, Winki and her husband have been slowly saving up for the down payment. “I’m also a normal citizen. I want to own a home but cannot afford to, and have been renting all along,” Winki revealed once in an interview.
To save up faster, the family of three moved to a unit in Tai Po Village House, a more remote location where rental is lower at around $10,000 Hong Kong dollars per month.
Splurging on Son’s Education
Every morning after her husband leaves home for work at around 10 a.m., Winki would start her daily routine of handling the household chores. Recently, she was spotted placing a few packaging boxes outside her balcony after hanging out laundry, while 3-year-old Marat tried to help out obediently.
On further observation, the boxes had the logo “D Mind and The Prince,” a branded English language acquisition educational kit for children that many wealthy parents in Hong Kong have recently bought. “D Mind and The Prince” costs an exorbitant HK$70,000.
Despite the actress’ simple lifestyle, she prioritized her son’s early education. Her big-ticket purchase for Marat’s learning kit was apparently influenced by his godparents Kevin Cheung (鄭嘉穎) and Grace Chan (陳凱琳). An insider revealed, “Kevin is very concerned about his two boys’ education–his elder son Rafael can already speak Mandarin before turning three, while Grace would also coach him in English every day. Kevin had advised Winki to change her parenting style, and focus on letting her son pick up languages first.”
