TVB Launches Gay Dating Show “Boyscation”

After Hong Kong’s ViuTV announced the release of eight new variety shows, TVB felt pressured to release groundbreaking content to regain younger demographics. In preparation for TVB’s Anniversary season, six new variety shows will be released, in which gay dating show Boyscation <仔仔一堂> is generating the most buzz.
After Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) stepped into TVB managerial roles, FAMA’s C-Kwan (Stephen Cheng 鄭詩君) was appointed Creative Director of their J2 channel in September to generate new content and shows. Although Stephen has only been on the job for one month, he is already assembling a promising lineup.
Among the new variety shows, the highlight is TVB’s first show catered towards the LGBTQ+ population. Hosted by openly gay actor Vinci Wong (王賢誌), Boyscation <仔仔一堂> will be a reality dating show featuring 10 male contestants who hope to find true love. Many hope the show can break down stigma and barriers faced by the LGBTQ+ community in Hong Kong.
The contestants include Hong Kong actor Howard Chan (陳皓雲), influencer Juzco Nam (藍源瑋), chef Kenny Yang (楊平), Taiwanese swimming instructor Kevin Tsai, a college lecturer, and a floral designer. Well built and good looking, many of these contestants declared on their social media that they are participating in Boyscation and did not mind openly stating their sexual orientation.
Boyscation is slated to air in November, and will be competing against ViuTV’s popular King Maker IV <全民造星IV> competition.
Other Variety Shows in the Pipeline
Under Stephen’s guidance, another new variety show is Oppa’s Cuisine <男神廚房> hosted by Carol Cheng (鄭裕玲). Featuring male celebrities who will cook, Hins Cheung (張敬軒) and Owen Cheung (張振朗) will guest in the first episode. Filming has already started, but the broadcast date has not been announced yet.
Other shows include: We’re All Wildlings 2 <野外步出2> hosted by Milkson Fong (方紹聰); new music show hosted by Alan Kuo (柯有倫); a paranormal reality show set within TVB Studios; and a show about convenience-store cooked foods.

Now this is surprising, considering that they’re the CCP/PRC pockets….kind of surprised the big 6 government hasn’t banned this…
wow I am surprised that even TVB is doing this especially lately with PRO-CHINA and CHINA trying to screw up HK democracy … I will support this because its gonna be a ground breaking show for the LGBT community and jeez Kevin Tsai is really good looking lmao
This is a very good move to encourage more acceptance. I guess China may stop shows like this in the future but for now, Im glad for this step forward by TVB.
This article doesn’t say if they going to air on TVB jade or J2 channels?
As C-kwan is creative director of J2, if he in involved, then they should be airing on J2.
