Oscar Leung Rejects Christine Kuo’s Love
Being able to separate life from acting and reality is what all successful actors should achieve, according to Tiger Cub’s <飛虎> Oscar Leung (梁烈唯). On the day of his interview with good friend and onscreen partner Christine Kuo (苟芸慧), Oscar’s phone was ringing from his girlfriend’s calls. To not hinder the interview, Oscar completely shut off his phone. Christine said, “You’re not afraid your girlfriend will be angry?” Oscar immediately replied, “Afraid of what? I don’t care if you’re the king or queen, I’m at work!”
Christine Kuo Falls for Oscar Leung
Although Oscar and Christine have known each other for a while, Tiger Cubs is their first collaboration. Oscar laughed, “It is the first collaboration of Goddess Christine Kuo and Peasant Oscar Leung!” Oscar joked and said that if he were to ask Christine out for a date in real life, Christine would immediately say yes!
Christine admitted, “Yes, you (Oscar) have a big chance! Do you really know how great you are? You’re attentive, serious, funny… I think I can come up with over a hundred things about how great Oscar is! First, he is really attentive; very considerate and gentlemanly. Second, he’s very perceptive. The sudden things he says can really touch your soul! He surprises you all the time! And of course, I don’t need to tell you how funny Oscar is. Just seeing him makes you so happy!”
“Your praises are making me feel so shy!” exclaimed Oscar. “To be honest, I’m a very quiet person. Why do I always smile when I go to work? It’s because when I grow quiet, my colleagues will ask me if I’m sick, and everyone will ask me if I’m unhappy. I don’t want to affect their work; I always keep an excited mode so my colleagues will not worry for me. If I have to film a sad and emotional scene, I will not go into the makeup room that day.”
Oscar is a Ladies’ Man
When asked if Oscar is a popular boyfriend target for many girls, Oscar said, “Not really. There are not a lot of girls who chase after me in real life, but I really do have a lot of female friends. In TVB, most of my close friends are girls. Besides Christine, I’m also really good friends with Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣), Natalie Tong (唐詩詠), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Vivien Yeo (楊秀惠), Elaine Yiu (姚子羚), and Mandy Wong (黃智雯). I have fewer male friends in comparison!”
Christine said, “You’re a ladies’ man!”
Oscar laughed, “Hahaha! Yes, I admit that!”
Christine explained that Oscar’s easy-going and attentive personality makes him popular among girls. She said, “He can feel what a girl is thinking, and he uses a guy’s perspective in helping the girl fix her problems. That’s why a lot of girls like to share intimate stories with him! I feel safe talking with him.”
Oscar joked, “That’s why I know a lot of secrets in TVB.”
“But I know you will keep them as secrets,” Christine confidently said.
Oscar clarified that he is not always as happy as he seems. He explained, “I also have many personalities, but not to the point where I’m schizophrenic! I can be really happy one minute, and really sad the next, and then really angry after that. When I am attentive, I can also get careless as well.”
Oscar Gives Christine Advice
When Oscar was asked what he thought about Christine, Oscar was full of praises. He exclaimed, “Beautiful of course! Being beautiful in the inside is what matters to me the most. Christine is not only beautiful in the outside, but also in the inside. That is rare! Unlike many artists in the circle, Christine is not a schemer at all! She’s very real. She’s very straightforward. She does not fuss over things.”
Currently being cultivated as a TVB fadan, Christine is given many opportunities to work with some of Hong Kong’s top television actors and actresses. The highly anticipated Ghetto Justice 2 <怒火街頭2>, in which Christine stars as Kevin Cheng’s (鄭嘉穎) ex-wife “Lynette,” is slated to air this summer. Christine was also cast in a major supporting role for the blockbuster drama, Beauty at War <金枝慾孽（貳）>, which stars TV Queens, Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯), Ada Choi (蔡少芬), and TV King, Moses Chan (陳豪).
Oscar also sees a bright future for Christine. He said, “She’s very professional and a hardworking person! Although the company is putting in effort to promote her, Christine does not feel complacent. She works harder than many girls who can speak Cantonese well. Her Cantonese has improved so much, and I know she worked really hard for it!”
Oscar, who portrays SDU sniper, “Chong Cheuk Yuen,” in Tiger Cubs, has a crush on his friend’s girlfriend “Ting Wai Wai,” who is portrayed by Christine. Wai Wai later breaks up with her boyfriend after discovering her true feelings for Yuen, and takes the initiative to kiss Yuen. When asked if Oscar had an urge to ask Christine out in real life, Oscar said, “I want to, but I did not. I am able to separate my real life from my acting roles.To be honest, I already have a great girlfriend. She’s a very nice girl! She is my Michelle Chen (陳妍希)! Yeah, that sounds corny, but I feel so blissful right now. Christine is super awesome, but we’re better as friends. I like Christine, but I know that we will not get together. But when I’m filming, I really have to like her! After work, I have to withdraw from that feeling. I’ll be in big trouble if I don’t! That’s why after work, I will not call her or SMS her.”
Christine said, “I also asked Oscar for advice in how to separate real life and acting. He told me that after completing a drama, we should not see each other or call each other for three months. That way, the feelings will not be there anymore.”
Oscar Takes Advice from Chilam Cheung
Oscar said, “It’s important to pull away from your onscreen role. We cannot afford to bring our work into our life. It’s unfair and dangerous! First off, it’s stressful for the actor. Second, it can deeply affect the actor’s relationships with his or her significant other, family, and friends. If the actor’s work begins to affect the others’ family, then that becomes unprofessional, and even shameful. Chilam Cheung (張智霖) taught me this.”

As someone who is not a native nor even a completely fluent speaker in Canto, I am usually quite dismissive of criticism direct at accents. I.e. Fala has been (still is!) criticised for her accent which I didn’t get since I didn’t “hear” it. But then comes someone like Christine and ugh, she is horrendous! She’s so bad that I can’t even overlook it! I can’t even focus on if her acting is good or not, because her accent takes up all my focus! She’s like an even worse version of Aimee (seriously, they look so much alike to me!)
Btw, I didn’t think JJ was bad in Tiger Cubs, so I don’t get the comparisons between her and Christine.

I have to disagree. I find Oscar charming and cute and Joe bland and boring. So I can understand why she would fall for Oscar. What I don’t get is why either of the guys are so into her!
Whenever she opens her mouth, I want to press mute. She’s selfish and self-absorbed. Her aggressive pursuit of Oscar is probably supposed to be “cute” but instead she just look tacky as hell. I seriously get secondhand embarrassment from watching her come on to Oscar’s character.
Oscar (Cheuk Yuen) is way better than Joe (Hon Tou). Hon Tou is so boring, and doesn’t know how to make Christine (Wai Wai) happy, but rather, it was Cheuk Yuen that does everything for them, e.g. decorate the car, the cell phone flower thing, etc. So if I were Wai Wai, I would choose Cheuk Yuen too.
But like Advo said, I don’t understand why Cheuk Yeun and Hon Tou are both into her.

Kate and JJ should be closer. I have rather low opinion of Kate’s acting. If JJ plays a mute, make it even closer.
Is JJ that bad? I watch her in that House of Harmony series and I think her acting is ok it.
Kidd, facial expression wise JJ is good. She is beautiful with that ancient feel in that series you named and I was very surprised by how lovely she looked, even with those heavy makeup. However when she opened her mouth, all illusion gone. She needs intensive voice training or last resort, a good dubber. She can act, but her voice brings her down. And due to inexperience, her body language is horrible. I can still remember in that same series where she walked and she bumped into the stone table or something. It was rather funny. She seems to be shaking a lot, so mousey even when she is playing a confident villain.
However given time and some self reflection, she will rise to the top. She is one of the very few that I like but feel she has so much to work on. But at least she got the basics right; she can act.
Agree, I do like JJ, but her voice is really terrible. Even in Tiger Cubs where her acting is good, her voice is still terrible. When she’s supposed to portray a fierce vixen, she’s supposed to have a strong and confident voice, but you can actually hear the shakiness in her voice. I rather they dub her especially in the beginning of her career. Many actresses will benefit from that such as JJ, Aimee and Christine.
Voice can be trained. And I don’t find JJ’s voice that bad. Tolerable especially when she is a Mando girl.

I actually don’t mind Kate and JJ but Aimee and Christine just irritate me, not only their acting but just their presence is enough to turn me off.

I like JJ more than Aimee too and I don’t have any problems with her speech. I guess, I don’t have as good an ear for language as you guys. So it says a lot, that I even find Christine’s speech obnoxious!

Kate’s Eyes on the sky vs Linda’s L for love, L for life, Kate won is something well deserved. Linda did a terrible job with the movie and made Stephy shined like a gem.

She should play more deceptive, calculating and villainous roles, she has a face that suits it. I liked her in Relic. 😀
She’s quite sexy as well, something that a lot of TVB actresses don’t have so it is fresh to see her onscreen. Eg. Tavia, Linda, Fala, etc…
The unique image of Kate. Like Linda with sweet, Myolie with special exaggeration expression, Fala with feminine. They have strength. None of them are perfect but at least they have something unique.
I totally agree with you Magic and think that Kate should definitely portray more villainous roles. She did a pretty good job in Moonlight Resonance as the deceptive and scheming daughter of “Sa Yee” during which I totally hated her character because of her actions. I think it’s her eyes and lips that give her a seductive look.
The whole storyline with Christine Kuo is so irritating!! TVB is still making these pathetic characters and pathetic storyline?? Her presence is so out-of-place in this drama – as if TVB just threw her in as a joke. Please don’t tell me Oscar will end up with her. New actress or not, everything about her is just awful awful awful!
It’s insulting to compare Christine to Kate. Even though I’m not a huge fan of KT, but she is infinite times better than this one.

Yes Kate is definitely much better and tolerable than Christine and since Tiger Cubs is an action packed and male driven testosterone thriller, there really is no need for her character in this series. Probably just one of TVB’s antics to give her some screen time to generate some audience love for her.

He is a great actor and funny but macho, mandom and hunk character just doesn’t suits him (it s really unconvincing)
He’s not really required to be manly and macho in Tiger Cubs…Just a really charming normal guy… who had to work extra hard to get into the Tiger Cub and is now working as a trained sniper shooter! =P

The reason that they don’t captivate your attention anymore is because Linda and Tavia appear in almost every series now and so they’re always in audience’s faces and don’t give off that fresh feeling anymore. They’re overly used by the producers whereas in the past, they were in less series and weren’t overexposed as much.
Yes, Tavia looked great in MR, that series is still on top of my list….too bad there won’t be a sequel as Lau Kar Ho has left the company.
Until now I still dun understand why MR is liked that much. It is ok for a family series but it lacks the real depth.

MR had its flaws but I found it better than HOG. But neither shows warranted the level of hype and ratings imo. But that’s just my opinion.

Wow, I’m actually impressed with Oscar’s interview. His statements about disassociating yourself from your character, being respectful of your significant other by not hanging out with attractive coworkers… I think it’s all refreshingly honest in a way that most actors aren’t. Most of the time, I feel like they make light of it in front of the media. Sounds like Oscar has a clear view of the side effects of working alongside very attractive costars, and has made a conscious decision to be loyal to his girlfriend. That sounds like true love right there; good for him.

Yes, Oscar’s approach is very respectful, which he thanked Chilam Cheung for his advice. It is much too easy for a male star to succumb and flirt with female costars. According to Anita Yuen, she knows of many HK actors who are considered to be “good men” succumb and have affairs in mainland China while filming there.
Oscar’s suggestion to not call Christine Kuo for 3 months after their collaboration is a good suggestion. Also, in the interview, he said he wants to pursue her, but he won’t, since there is no future. He hinted that while he may be tempted by his beautiful costars, he will not do so. He does appreciate his girlfriend, Tina, very much, since he often mentions her in every interview.
I’m very impressed by Oscar’s way of thinking too. I’m so infactuated with him. It makes me like him even more. I wonder if he ends up with Christine in the drama. I think they’re cute together even though her acting is not that great.

Oscar’s girlfriend’s name is Tina. However, Tina resembles Taiwanese actress, Michelle Chen, to a certain extent, so he often calls Tina, “My Michelle Chen.”
Christine’s acting is totally not good. Her expression is so bad! Kate is just pouching her lips out.. grrr
but i think JJ is pretty good in tiger cubs and especially in Ghetto Justice 2.
