“The Penthouse” Screenwriter Returns with a New Thriller Drama
South Korean screenwriter Kim Soon OK known for her work in hit drama The Penthouse, is returning with a new drama with a star-studded cast that includes Uhm Ki Joon, Hwang Jung Eum, Lee Joon, Lee Yoo Bi, Shin Eun Kyung, Yoon Jong Hoon and Jo Yoon Hee.
Titled The Escape of Seven, the drama follows the lives of seven people who got involved in the disappearance of a girl. As the truth unfolds, the characters’ lies, and desires unravel itself in a complex story filled with dramatic turns.
After starring as the show’s antagonist in The Penthouse, Uhm Ki Joon will be making a comeback in the upcoming drama. In The Escape of Seven, Uhm Ki Joon stars as Mathew Lee, a representative of one of the largest mobile platform companies and a secretive identity. Fans are curious to what role he will play in the intriguing incident.
Hwang Jung Eum will be showcasing a new image as she takes on the role of Guem Ra Hee, a competent representative of a drama production company. Believing that money gives meaning to her life, the character will be searching for her daughter that she abandoned 15 years ago to receive a large inheritance. Unfortunately, her decisions will lead her to unpredictable consequences.
Lee Joon plays a dangerous man with a dark past and lives life without hope or dream. Although the character looks intimidating on the outside, he is filled with passion on the inside.
Lee Yoo Bi plays a dazzling idol trainee from a wealthy family. While the character is charming and appears to have a life, she is living in constant lies. The character hides a dark shadow and desire behind her lovely smile.
Shin Eun Kyung takes the role of Cha Joo Ran, an obstetrician-gynecologist and lives with a wealthy man as old as her father. Meanwhile, Yoon Joon Hoon plays a CEO of an entertainment industry and is skilled at strategizing his opponents’ moves. Jo Yoo Hee will be playing an art teacher who will not hesitate to lie to protect things that matter to her.
The big cast sets the stage for a thrilling drama where the characters’ lives will be intertwined with their own personal motives. The drama is scheduled to premiere in 2023.
