“I’ve Got the Power” Pleases With Superhero Theme
TVB Anniversary series I’ve Got the Power <超能使者> follows a crew of low socioeconomic individuals played by Ruco Chan (陳展鵬), Natalie Tong (唐詩詠), Joel Chan (陳山聰), and Tiffany Lau (劉穎鏇) who suddenly develop superpowers after a car crash. They become superheroes and seek justice for locals in the community.
Natalie’s character has the ability to heal, although she was unable to save her sister who was pushed off the top of a building. Viewers have been quite harsh in their criticism for Natalie, complaining that she is too noisy, her out-of-focus eyes, and tired looks. “I already felt that she had gained weight after The Beauty of War <美麗戰埸>. She looks old and bloated here, nature really is unforgiving.”
Sophia Lam (林靖文), who plays the role of Natalie’s niece, was praised for her emotional delivery in the scene where she asks Natalie why her mother left and when she would return. In another scene, she chases after her father (Carlos Ng 吳家樂), begging him not to leave her behind.
Ruco’s character has the ability to stop time, and he displays this power within the first two episodes, first saving Sophia from plummeting to her death and another time to allow Natalie into the morgue in an attempt to revive her sister.
Excited by the premise, viewers feel that the drama resembles i American series such as Fantastic Four and titles from the Marvel franchise. They also s praised the realistic visual effects during the time stoppage and appreciated the producer and cast’s efforts.

Wow seriously? “Natalie bloated and gained weight”? This is why Asians have the mentality of if you’re not stick thin your fat! I remember at 106 lbs 5’1 stature after having kids I was called fat. But to others I was considered “lucky to be thin after giving birth”. Really shows your the Asian and American mentality.
Just finished ep3 and I’m enjoying it so far. I’m a huge Marvel and Shonen Jump fan and this seems to be a good mix of both. Its so refreshing to see something like this come out of TVB!
I’m enjoying this so far as well! I think the storyline is quite refreshing for TVB. Also, that little girl Sophia Lam is a great actress. I feel like she’s better than a lot of TVB leads nowadays. Her emotional scenes made my heart break. I might not love her acting, but I think Natalie looks great. Where is this weight that they speak of?
