Ali Lee Plays Her Fourth Maternal Role in “The Perfect Man”

Starring Ali Lee (李佳芯), Joe Ma (馬德鐘), Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤), and Ricco Ng (吳偉豪), TVB romance The Perfect Man <有種好男人> is  premiering on December 26. Playing a maternal role for the fourth time, Ali will be a mother with a 17-year-old son in the drama.

Going from Goddess to Super Mom

Recognized for her versatile acting, Ali is especially convincing in maternal roles. From her strong and independent character in Provocateur <與諜同謀> to her winsome performance in Who Wants A Baby? <BB來了>, and to her money-greedy single mother role in Death By Zero <殺手>, Ali has demonstrated her ability to portray various maternal characters.

In The Perfect Man, Ali has a very sweet relationship with her  17-year-old son, Miu Sing Lam (Ricco Ng). He even nicknames his mother as Yau Yau and would behave like her boyfriend. While their backstory is still a mystery, there are undoubtedly anticipations on Ali and Ricco’s mother-son chemistry.

Only 40 years old in real life, Ali admitted it was difficult  to imagine what it is like to raise a 17-year-old son. “It feels like a very distant thing, so I definitely took some time to get the [right] feeling in the beginning. There is a different mode to interacting with an older child.” Fortunately, Ali got along with Ricco very well as they eventually built a solid tacit understanding with each other.

Asked if she desires to become a working mother, Ali said, “I believe everyone wants to make each stage shine its brightest. I am also the type of person who can’t stop working, so even if I have family and children in the future, I will still find something to do. Especially since I am a great multi-tasker, I am confident in fulfilling my life.”

Ricco Felt Very Supported by Ali

As for 24-year-old Ricco who is playing a teenager, he laughed that his biggest challenge was his mature appearance. Attempting to make himself look younger with different clothing and hairstyle, Ricco expressed it was a tough period trying to fix his hair with mousse and clips.

Otherwise, he was happy to work with Ali, who took care of him a lot during filming. He shared, “I initially felt very nervous and stressed because I was a rookie with not much acting experience besides Come Home Love: Lo and Behold <愛.回家之開心速遞>. Ali made the atmosphere feel very lively, so I was infected by her positive energy and was able to relax and perform better.”

  1. Only reason to watch this is for Ali, I hate Joe Ma’s acting,

I don’t mind Rico Ng but really, his role should have been re-cast , he is 27 year old portraying a 17 year old , wtf , & Ali as his mother

    1. Agree. Ricco looks way too old play Ali’s son, unless the plot calls for her to have had a child at like age… 15.

    2. No offense to tvb child / teen actors, but I have never seen one that’s even half decent. It’s like they can only get someone’s kid to get in front of camera to read out some lines whenever the need arises. I can see why they would cast a 27 year old to play a 17 year old. They want someone who can actually act. And not like that bar is high, they don’t even need to be a grest actor, just not be terrible.

  2. It’s because TVB has no more mum figures or paw paw nor mama..all retired or have sadly passed…who else to look be mums ‍♀️ And no more child stars…

Jacky jay and his brother were very cute back olden days..now all teenagers or young adults all grown up…maybe soon their children be child stars!
