“Bu Bu Jing Xin 2” Script Still Incomplete; Sequel to Film at Year-end
Based on the adaption of Tong Hua’s (桐华) internet novel, Bu Bu Jing Xin <步步惊心> was mainland China’s megahit drama last year. The time-travel drama offered romantic escapism amidst the grandeur of the Qing palace. Many female viewers were especially swept off their feet by the drama’s handsome princes, Nicky Wu (吴奇隆) and Kevin Cheng (郑嘉颖)!
The charming Eighth Prince, played by Kevin Cheng, and the faithful Fourth Prince, played by Nicky Wu, mesmerized many female audiences. Both actors’ popularity soared overnight after appearing in the hit series. Time-traveling heroine, Cecilia Liu (刘诗诗), also received recognition from her acting skills. Many audience members particularly empathized with her painful love and anguish in the finale, when she encountered a man resembling Fourth Prince, who did not recognize her. The scene left many audiences with a heartache, yearning for their romance to be continued!
“Bu Bu Jing Xin 2” Fans Produce Their Own Sequel
Earlier, Chinese Entertainment Shanghai announced that the filming of the modern version of Bu Bu Jing Xin 2 will commence in August 2012. Since then, many trailers of the modern sequel have surfaced on the internet. Some of the trailers were created by fans who used different snapshots from old series and then pieced them together.
Recently, a trailer revealing the synopsis of Bu Bu Jing Xin 2 surfaced. The story centered on a family feud, in which Cecilia Liu was entrenched in complicated relationships with the warring brothers. She met a man who resembles the Fourth Prince. Cecilia Liu also has an identical twin sister in the trailer.
Many fans were excited over the trailer, and speculated that the sequel would be aired soon. However, fans will be disappointed to know that this is a fan-produced trailer and not associated with the official production.
Chinese Entertainment Shanghai’s Deputy General Manager, Teng Jingshu (藤井树) stated the recent circulating trailers for Bu Bu Jing Xin 2 were only fan-produced. Ms. Teng said that the script was still in the midst of writing and denied that Cecilia Liu will play two roles in the sequel.
Original Cast Invited to Film Sequel
Teng Jingshu also disclosed that the filming for Bu Bu Jing Xin 2 will start at the end of the year. The company has invited the original cast to return for the sequel. Ms. Teng said, “We will try our best to accommodate the original cast’s schedule, and hope that they will continue to star in the sequel.”
Ms. Teng was also asked if Bu Bu Jing Xin 2 will feature Jiang Jingfu (蒋劲夫), and Gulnazar(古力娜扎), whose popularity rose after appearing in Xuan Yuan Sword 3: Scar in the Sky <轩辕剑之天之痕>. She replied, “We still hope to use the original cast. Jiang Jingfu and Gulnazar may not be involved at all.”

Well, if you pay them their market rate you don’t need to invite them. Just give them the completed script and a fair price!
Funn,
It doesn’t sound like a definite confirmation that “Bu Bu Jing Xin 2” will feature the return of the original cast. Kevin Cheng is now said to be filming “Ip Man” TV series, so that doesn’t help matters!
I don’t find Kevin to be a strong physical actor. No doubt “Ip Man” TV is a big production, but there must have been other quality scripts offered his way.
Seriously? Kevin as Ip Man? Well at least it is consistent with Donnie Yen’s botoxed portrayal but at least Donnie Yen can fight. So Kevin will out handsome his rivals?
Kevin will be out of place portraying Ip Man, he won’t be very convincing IMO.
Somebody needs to give Kevin the roles that actually fit him. His latest roles do not fit him and I don’t care TV king or not. Kevin doesnt look like a boxer or an ancient emperor and definitely not Ip Man.
well if thy cn cme up wth decent script thn by all means go ahead.. if nt delay it… we viewers deserve the besst ppl ..
I think the most difficult is not really the price offered to them, but it is their schedule.. Will they be able to accomodate all of their schedules since they have other projects to work on???
looking forward to see, i cry when watching it
Anyone know if this is a direct sequel or just same cast?
I don’t think it is a direct sequal.. It is just the same cast I think.. But not sure yet…
Finally some news. I guess, it’s both good and bad news that it’s taking them so long. It’s good that they are taking their time to insure quality, but this means fans will have to wait longer. Perhaps I should check out those fanvids while waiting.
Looking forward to this
Ghetto Justice2 is a good example of what a sequel is. Everything is almost as it was, so to speak. The characters, especially the main ones, the location and other aspects remain the same. Also importanat is the continuity of the original story. One can say that GJ2 is a development of GJ.From what I gather, Bu Bu Jing Xin2 is not going to be a sequel although they want to have the same cast. Since they seem to be taking pains and time to write the script I believe the story promises to be good.

Finally, a response regarding BBJX2 from the proper source. I feel that BBJX2 will be a ‘sequel’ of sorts because in the last scene CL ‘returned’ to the 21st century and even bumped into Nicky (now reincarnated) at the Qing historical exhibition. It will be interesting to see if the script move towards a romantic development between these two and, perhaps, other Princes (eg 13th, 14th and even 8th) now all reincarnated gets involved with each other in oneway or another.
It’s a shame that KC always gets put down no matter what sort of role he takes on. My solution is….don’t like it, don’t watch it.
I really love bubujingxin. I can’t wait to see bubujingxin 2. I hope ruoxi + 4 prince can be together and happy ending.
