Ricco Ng Gains First Leading Role

TVB rising star Ricco Ng (吳偉豪) is receiving numerous opportunities after winning Most Improved Actor at the 2022 TVB Anniversary Awards. Promoted to first male lead, Ricco is challenged to portray an undercover cop alongside veterans Joe Ma (馬德鐘) and Alice Chan (陳煒) in upcoming legal drama Extraordinary Prosecution <非常檢控觀>.

Having played many good boy roles, Ricco expressed his eagerness and excitement to finally portray a more complex character. “I’m highly anticipating the filming! I’m not concerned whether I would have a lot of scenes, because I’m purely excited to be given this opportunity. Since young, I’ve watched many crime stories such as New Police Story <新警察故事> and E.U. <學警狙擊>, so it’s always been my wish to star in a crime drama.”

Ricco earned the praise of producer Lam Chi Wah (林志華) after working with him on Communion <回歸>. Thankful for the opportunity, he shared, “Since the producer has great confidence in me, I don’t feel as nervous as before. I know that I will only need to follow his directions, and the results should come out well. I’ve already read some of the script, and I already like the character. Joe’s character also made the story a lot richer.” As for the preparations needed to play the role, Ricco shared that he does not have to specifically bulk or train hard, so he is more focused on crafting a sense of maturity.

With Ricco’s father Ng Dai Keung (吳大強) winning reality music competition Midlife Sing & Shine! <中年好聲音>, some fans hope to see the father and son collaborate in a drama one day. While Ricco does not mind, producer Lam stated, “There are possibilities, but Ricco’s father is busy so maybe he could make a cameo.”
