Nicholas Tse Makes Directorial Debut in “New Police Story 2”
At the 2023 Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART), Emperor Motion Pictures promoted its upcoming films with New Police Story 2 <新警察故事2> as one of its most prominent projects. The action movie is produced by Jackie Chan (成龍) and directed by Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒), with both also starring alongside the original cast from 20 years ago.
Jackie’s appearance at the press conference was a rare occurrence, as he is often not in Hong Kong anymore. He shared the reason why he decided to film a Hong Kong movie again, “Firstly it was the title: New Police Story. I had poured a lot of myself into at the time, and it is also a series that is loved by fans across the world. Most importantly, Nicholas is directing!”
Nicholas laughed as he heard this, “This was all Jackie’s doing! It definitely is 20 years worth of emotions ,and we hope to be able to continue the story. So I’ll go with whatever Jackie says!”
Reprising her role as the lead actress, Charlene Choi (蔡卓妍) joked that she knew nothing about the story yet. “Mr. Tse called me up one day and said I’ve saved you a spot in New Police Story 2! I responded, ‘Great!’”
